- So What's Better, an AUTOMATIC G35 or MANUAL G35 ? 2020 ( OWNED BOTH )
So after owning an automatic G35 for almost 2 years and a Manual G35 for about a month now, believe it or not I can already tell what is better in so many different ways. Hopefully this video can give an insight to those who plan on going to manual and hopefully describe the experience.

I also have had both and in time I’ve come to realize that automatic is much more comfortable. Manual is more fun though.
Yup, I just got out of work after a 9 hours shift for the first time and it was tiring to drive haha
BeDistinct especially in traffic Anyways make that Money Cuzzo🙏🏼🤙🏼
Im getting auto, bc thats all they have and it is more comfortable to multi tast while driving terms
Auto is just as fun when you switch to manual mode
Bro why does it look slow😢
I can't wait til my son is this excited when he drives his first manual - this is a beautiful moment in every mans life
It definitely is fun man and this is me taking it easy because I’m breaking in the clutch
Just to find out he likes autos
I had a manual for seven years and it was fun every single day. Just be ready to fix the crankshaft and camshaft sensors on these cars because they will go out 👍.
what’s stopping me from driving a manual is idk how to drive one 😂
I bought a manual G35. I haven't driven it yet and idk how to drive it yet but i will eventually
@@davidrosabal269 I’ll buy it off you lmaooo
@@SoCalgardener i didn't out insurance yet nor the tag, dude sold me it with very little oil i didnt know about until recently
@David Rosabal I’m about to be in the same position as you. Have you learned how to drive the g35 yet?
@@avn4975 no the guy fucked me over pretty hard, i had to get a new battery, been waiting 2 weeks to put the new starter and i am hoping the engine is still good and not blown because this guy probably put a tiny bit of oil before i got there to get it. I cant drive it cause of that
For 30 years I've driven manual in a lot of different cars and it's fun especially when you downshift. Much quicker response than an automatic but that's the only thing I miss. Right now, I'm just looking for comfort with driving an automatic. ✌🏾
Keep up the good work with those vids!
I feel like In a manual I’m in some rollercoaster and when I get in automatic it’s like the end of the roller coaster you know, all smooth and easy.
@@BeDistinct and Who Doesn’t LOVE ROLLER COASTERS?!?
RiP to the Gold G.
If your a real car enthusiast you’ll appreciate all builds , both are fun tho I’m trying to get a manual soon
Bro honestly so happy for you cause i had a auto Celica GTS and when i got my 06 g35 coupe manual i know exactly how much fun you had learning and mastering that skill and how much fun it is to learn and bang gears🤙🤙🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait for that man, I bet it’s gunna be hella fun
xavi tech ahaha never noticed but I originally wanted a Z but couldn’t find one clean and the G i have now popped up for a really good price so i said why not......still looking for a Z tho
@@xavierbeltran7201 so weird you said that my last car was a 2000 celica GT manual trans. And now I have my Baby 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT Sports Edition. NO COMPARISON I LOVE LOVE LOVE My Beautiful Car! It looks & sounds SO AMAZING!
All about self preference we appreciate all g’s
Manual weekend car automatic daily car but if i had a choice id daily a manual 😂
I’m in that choice haha I only have one car
I daily drive a manual car, I really enjoy driving manual cars but after a while my left leg gets extremely sore making it hard to shift gears and to start from a stop. Im looking at getting an automatic with a manual mode for my next car, so that I can have that manual feeling without killing my left leg with the clutch.
this is the only reason i dont wanna manual. too much work for daily traffic. especially the traffic i deal with. auto makes more sense. i want to have a fun side manual car one day though
From what I understand the automatic G35 came with variable valve timing on the intake and the manual g35s came with variable valve timing on the intakes and exhaust also according to my window sticker from purchasing the car new my manual has 280 horsepower
I think that is rev up vs non rev up with the vvt difference. The engines are the same the power different is because there is less parasitic loss in a manual trans for all cars. Auto has to go there a torque converter and more steps that drain the HP. Manual goes from engine pretty much straight to the trans.
Revup = intake and exhaust. non = only intake. You can tell from the bumps on the front of the engine 2 = non 4 = revup.
auto is ok for the g35. its considered a luxury car
I can say that even in my auto g35 sedan 04' stock I literally get that nice pull feeling from it.
Just bought a new DE today & I came home to this 😂👌🏽
I’m so happy for you man living a dream come true and it’s only gonna get bigger :)
Hopefully brotha 🤘🏽
Manual. I remember having an automatic 98 Honda prelude and my coworker had a stick shift Chevy cavalier and he beat me in a race and ever since then I’ve only wanted a manual. Now I got a 2003 stick shift g35 black on black. I love my car
Mbn I’ve been looking for a g35 manual but can’t find any😔
@@NSRTalonzo they’re really hard to find especially ones that aren’t destroyed
Damn brev
bro the auto on my 01 prelude went out at 109k miles, absolute garbage as any prelude owner would tell you. the manual swap is complete now and she feels like a whole nother beast 🙌🏼
Got a black on black 03 coupe 6spd with the brembo package it's so nice
The only difference is the Rev-Up VQ35DE which came in years 2005-2007 (Manual only).
Any year manual G35 before that is a non Rev-Up VQ35DE.
All automatics are non Rev-Up VQ35DE’s, and I also read someone say the “sport package makes the manuals faster” but that’s not true because my 2006 auto VQ35DE came with the sport package. So this said, the only differ is the rev-up motor but just because it’s a rev-up doesn’t mean it the best engine because in fact the rev-up engine is trash when it comes to reliability, sensor always going bad & what not.
2004-2006 Auto G35’s are the best engine to go with, if reliability isn’t your top priority then have at it. Don’t swap it lol just manual swap!
I've had an 03 auto and an 06 and 07 in manual. Manual is much more fun. I was actually able to track both set ups as well, with mods. Both were doable but manual preferred. There is a transgo transmission upgrade kit that makes the auto shift "fast as hell." Supposedly. If that's the case, the auto seems like it could be as fun as manual, as far as being in the right gear at the right time
what’s the trans cargo kit
@@StreetHeem it's a valve body upgrade that makes the auto shifting much faster
Just came across your video I’m definitely subbing
They’re both the best. Can’t change my mind. VQ35 FTW!
I’m in the market for one right now and i’ve been searching for the right one for months and this is literally the vid i’ve been wanting 😂 I don’t know how to drive manual yet but i still might get the manual just because i’ve seen when you tune it it looks way more fun ngl
Definitely 100x more fun when you tune it
LEARN TO DRIVE A MANUAL BEFORE GETTING Your G! 😬
I got one for sale lol
Had both owned a g35x when I lived in Cflorida but since I moved to michigan I bought a 6mt and love driving it i drive 60miles a day (all highway i live in the country) and being my 3rd winter its not bad but the 35x would be nice for the snow and when I'm in city all the stop and go is annoying so I plan on buying another 35x . And as far as more power its just gearing ✌🏿
Seen some comments about driving an automatic on manual yeah you’re right you will wear it out more but.. everytime you turn on your car may it be auto or manual you’re wearing it down anyways. I say enjoy yourself 😎🤙🤙
03-04 auto and manual had the same engine
05-07 auto had regular DE and manual had revup with a little extra HP
👌🏽 solid
If you wanna go cheap then automatic but if you wanna go expensive manual is your choice 😭 got my 05 g35 coupe automatic for 3k only , literally just go for the look of this car 🔥
Love your g35 coupe… keep on driving it
Lets hear that story bro 🤦🏻♂️💯
Manual or Auto - same power. Different final drive ratio though - especially in the earlier years.
Manual made more power in the 05-06 model years
4:08 you said “the manual beats the g35” 😂😂😂
I’m dyslexic af when it comes to filming lmao 😂
I prefer a Dual Clutch Automatic Transmission with Manual Triptonic shifting and paddle shifters like my 2015 BMW 435ix
LOL Does it come w/ a matching pacifier🤣
SHOW US THE DRAMA ABOUT THE G35 !!
Haha I might have to do it
Went from a Manual G that I had for 4 years and before that a manual tsx, but a week ago I just bought an Audi S3 and man I miss that that manual life😭
I just turned 30 and drive my auto over 6sp usually... Gettin old haha (neither sre g35s)
@@MiraSubieGirl ya bro honestly after 7 months of owning the S3 the dsg auto transmission is fuckin crazy the shifts are soooo fast. Honestly don’t think I’ll have a manual daily again after feeling this haha
@@jordanscott483 Just treat that gearbox well. They are amazing but when they break my god... Expensive. Im a Mechanic :) Privet from Russia!
In Vladivostok I am 3hr flight from Japan :) I got 3 Jdm cars 😖
I have an 06 automatic coupe. I'm sure manual is more fun but I feel like I would beat on my car alot more if it were manual.
💯 I feel like I am lol
kinda on the fence to get a manual g35 sedan with the vq35hr. Would it be a good buy?
auto is just as fun in manual mode rolling peel out in first banging it into 2nd 3rd Rev match when downshifting when slowing down it's beast
ITS SO NOT THE SAME!!!
horsepower wise there were two versions of G and only the manual got the "rev-up" version of G. i believe 03-04 manuals had an option of rev-up engine and it was in all manuals 05+. I think it makes like 17 hp more than non rev up
03-04 manuals were not rev up cars and had 280hp and 270 foot pounds of torque. The 05-06 manuals had the rev up with 298hp and 260 foot pounds of torque. All autos regardless of year were the same at 280hp.
Ive been driving a manual transmission driver for 25 plus years, and it will continue to be that way til the day I die. 4 Life ninja!!!....
Let’s hear that story👌👌
I need to learn how to drive a Manuel 😩
I’m currently deciding between a G35 or 350z manual. I’m currently driving an beautiful black automatic 2006 Rsx which I plan to keep as my daily but I miss driving stick and I want something fun
350z if ur looking for fun and performance, g35 if ur looking for fun and luxury. That's literally the only diffrence
Manual is better if you want to control your car. Auto is better when it comes to being in traffic. If it was me I would choose manual
Definitely, traffic sucks, even in an auto haha but it is more comfortable
i wish i leanred Manual before i bought my Auto G. Would of went Manual if i knew how
where did you buy the hood of the automatic
Should I buy a auto or a stick kinda a newby at stick ?im in the Seattle area lots of hills 😂
I just got a g35 06 manual with stage 2 clutch and i dont even know how to drive it💀still learning boizz
How's it going dude? I want to buy a g35 manual and it would be my first manual car too 💀
Manny
Bc you can kinda get more power by shift at the best time
Bro u live in north sac ? That’s crazy I do too 😭😂
Gotta here the old G story
I think i saw you driving today in your honda accord. I finally spotted you!( i think)
I didn’t drive the Honda at all today lmao 😂 I worked all day 💀
bruh rip
man had the same hair and same grey accord.
Noti gang
Driven both but I prefer manual
Need to hear the story 😂😂
Ooo might have to drop the story
Yes we need one lmao
Did you tune your matic?
It wouldn’t be a issue manual vs automatic if you know how to use the tektronic’s shifter or paddles you can still hit those high rev number on the dash….it sad 😢 that people still don’t know how to use it that option in them G35 and G37’s
Can you retrofit them if your g35 didn’t come with that option
Tbh yeaah I've Had Both But then I did a Manual Conversion on mine and tbh for me Give the car more of a profile because say you see a real Nice G or a Z and obviously first thing your gonna do is go and look see if its manual or Auto
What's the cost for that?
We some trumpets boy😂😭 and I can prove with videos of Mexico yes it shifts faster than a manual
TBH I drove manual for the first time a month ago. It was fucking hard. And yet I still desire to shift my own gears. I have an auto g35 and you know I ride in manual mode. Even in auto it’s fun to shift your own gears.
I live in Los Angeles. It would take me over an hour to get to work, (my job was only 10 miles from my house) I would fucking hate driving a manual.
So whats better, comment below
TimeStamps:
1:28 why i chose an auto
3:23 video begins
The manual g35 got the vq35de revup motor basically vvt on both exhaust and intake cam. The auto on the other hand has the regular vq35de with vvt on the intake cam only that's the power difference between auto and manual
you can get an aftermarket exhaust cam so doesnt really matter
@@teekay6848 didn't know that thx for the info
I want to hear the story
What are those head lights called
I’m currently saving up for a G and I don’t know how to drive manual, and sure it looks cooler but my philosophy on cars is I don’t give a fuck about performance I just want it to look cool. call me a pussy idrc, automatic just seems more my style , I’m a relax chill driver I don’t drive aggressive I don’t beat the fuck out of the gas but I do want to learn manual but not be judged for having a automatic G lol, like sorry I have personal preferences
Manual g35’s have the “sport package” so they do have alil more HP
I have a automatic and it’s the sport package
fix up your rev light shift
have you use regular 87 octane
I’m looking for a g35 right now but I don’t know which to get if I should go auto or manual pls pls pls help me out
up to you, but honestly I really enjoy the manual version.
I wish I had a g35 might get a m35
Manuel
Rev gauge is a tachometer
Have you learned how to stop and start while going up a steep hill yet? Remember you have a parking brake if you need it & Can be a helpful thing so you don't roll backwards.
Haven’t gone too extreme to the point where I need the e brake but yea
Well in aus you have to do a hill start when you go for your license
We all need the stories I even messaged the guy to get answered
Haha omg 🤦♂️
Tell the story ofc
The manual is faster cause no torque converter and all that, also the window sticker said the auto has better torque but the manual has more hp
What’s stopping me from driving manual??….. MONEY, currently tryna sell my automatic and get a manual but all the guys I’ve texted on offer up ain’t texting back
You should powder coat you’re wheels till you get new ones. They will look good.
Yea I’m actually thinking of sanding them and painting them myself for now and see how they turn out.
I regret getting an automatic, I want to manny swap it but idk how to go about it...
i’m in the same boat, watch 350z 5AT to 6MT swap on yt it’s a full tutorial on the swap
The auto g37 pulls way harder
It’s a whole lot of work, if you can find a used car lot with a manual 350 to trade your auto in for. Since most Americans can’t drive manual, they’ll likely be happy to take the auto from you
In the city automatic
Out away from big cities definitely manual.
My old G would chirp even on 4th. My auto one now doesn't do that 😒 😕
EXACTLY!!
I have an 04 auto
That’s how I started 👌🏽
@@BeDistinct but not where you ended

Are they relaible tho
Vq35 de rev up 2005-07 mt has more horsepower than the de 03-07 at
What website would be best for to look for a 2007-2008 g35
I’ll say look at a app called OfferUp and also look at Facebook market place
Oh shit this bi about to pull and then it doesn’t cause you’re in a G35 😂😭 i love it tho
Lmao 😂
When I down shift my auto in manual mode my car slows down a lot without touching the breaks is this normal?
lol yes very much so it's normal it's called engine breaking look it up
yeah manual g35 came with more horsepower than the automatic because auto was a 5 speed & yk the manual is a 6 speed lol! I have an 08 350z 6 speed manual & all ima say is manual> auto all day!
Okay good, yea cuz I heard that but didn’t know if it was true
Clicked on video. Paused it. To write a comment and leave.
Manual better.
Yo that air bag light is annoying asf but its easy to get rid of if you want just turn your car to the on position and when it turns off flip it to the accessory spot and repeat 4 times
Ima try it see if it works
2003 automatic g35 with 103,000 miles for $3,750. Problems- needs crankshaft sensor replaced and needs a full paint job. Should I get it or what? It’s a coupe btw
Mine is good and reliable and also needs a paint job but the mileage Is cherry
Always owned a manual my 03 coupe is 6mt.manual rules.
Yo what happened with the golden G? Let us in on it!
He sold it there’s a video
The manual has a little more horsepower due to the lack of a torque converter, however, the auto shifts quicker. In a drag race, the auto will probably win low end, but the manual will pull high end. Of course, an upgraded auto with a shift kit and tighter torque converter will lose less power and win out over the manual in a race.
Top secret diffuser 👀
I still have mine 👌🏽
