Just got rid of my G35x for a Q50 3.0t a few months ago. I purchased the G35 with 140k miles. Had it for 6 years, great purchase for me. Transmission went out at around 185k miles. A few small repairs here and there DIY. After that it was smooth sailing until I had problems with the sensors and ECU around 240k miles. Got it to 249k before I got rid of it, loved every moment and I believe it could’ve lasted longer if I was car savvy back then. This car for sure made me a great garage mechanic. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.

I am 45 years old and I am a proud owner of a manual G35 with full bolt ons and Admintuned. I have to say, the goods outway the bad. This is just simply a fun nice looking car to drive with qualities you can't find in any other car at this price range today. Great review!

There's a forgotten just fact people fail to mention these days. I just graduated high school when this G came out and I remember everyone wanted it because of the unique exhaust sound. Nissan spent tons of money just to make that exhaust sound the way it sound. Its very unique and is what made Infiniti's of that era unique with their exhausts. No other cars at the time sound better than the G35 and the Infiniti SUVs of the time.

I was given one , relative who I have helped out on many occasions, asked if I wanted his 2004 with the sport option with 120K on it. . Engine is great,he always took care of that. Paint failure on the roof and left hood as in peeling off. Drivers seat leather is a mess, which I found out is common, Bose amp can be intermittent, common, and the thing thunks over bumps= suspension rebuild. I have a friend who worked at Nissan HQ in quality control, he said they price shop parts looking to save $$ looking for 100k in reliability vs . Toyota which looks for parts that don't break. I have had two Lexus GS cars with none of these problems with age and higher miles. That said the car is a great driver and worth fixing the problems- anyone got a drivers seat?

I was about 22 years old when this car came out. At the time it was my realistic dream car. I swore to myself I would someday own one but by the time I could afford one the G37 had came out and it just seemed like a better idea to buy a new one instead of going for the G35. I'm 41 now and have moved on to an Audi RS5 but I'll never forget the way the G35 had me captivated when I first saw one drive by. I remember exactly where I was. The sound I heard from a block away, the gorgeous looks, and that amazing (to me at the time) fat dual exhaust system poking out the back. I wish the Q60 made me feel the same way but it just doesn't.

Dude as long term revup owner, you are right on the money, from the idle chatter in drive thrus to the doors auto closing on your shins to the 19s clunking over everything, but i still love it. Timeless styling, bulletproof drivetrain, provided its fed oil often. It's never let me down and i used to drive it across the city 7 days a week before covid. Effortless highway cruiser, and swings all corners it comes across. It's like a bullshark testosterone injection everytime you drive it. Its always saying, fuck it, do it. It makes me wonder the question, does the car make the douchebag, or does the douchebag make the car? Why not both. Thanks Nissan.

Fixed my gas gauge by having the instrument cluster rebuilt. There are a couple of resistors whose solder joints fail after many years. Cost about $100 but they also replaced all the lights. Fixed my clock with a replacement cluster off of e-bay. Now if the leather in the seats would last. Oh, and welded the broken bracket in the seat. The seats are not terribly robust and will break if you throw yourself into the car.

Just sold my 07' G35 a few weeks ago. Hurt like hell, but unfortunately it was time. Interior falling apart, gas gauge not working, electrical issues, occasional stalling, small oil leak, etc. But you're definitely right, the engine and transmission were still really solid after the 12 years I had it and the 130k miles it had on it. It's a shame that Infiniti won't bring back the G series, I would've bought another one in a heartbeat.

For the seats, there should be memory modules you can set up to where when you get in t the car it’ll automatically adjust to the memory option you have set. At least that’s how it is for the 2012 G37 sedan. Sadly my chairs went out and am passengerless due to the chair being stuck in incline.

I've owned my '04 since '11 and there are VERY few cars that I would consider replacing it with. The only problems mine has that yours does is the LCA and Comp Rod bushings and the peeling of those vinyl inserts in the back seats. All EASILY fixable.
I've done nothing but "OEM +" mods (basically mods that just free up what the factory had to leave on the table due to US regulations) and it's still rock solid.
Interior is still 9/10, and only real complaint is the soft paint...of course it's 18yrs old now, but I'll get it painted soon and with that it'll be basically a brand new car. Honestly can't say enough about it; it's going to be very worthwhile in the future to have one... especially a 6mt.
