    Breaking from their normal trends Rockwood is going with a more a-symmetrical look on the outside of their Geo Pros this year and personally I am here for it! It gives a fun, bright, and young look to this tested, proven, and popular brand of ultralite RVs!
    Now with standardized 12v tank heaters, solar + inverter package, sport tire & axle lift, TPMS & monitor, and so much more these are among the most highly equipped little campers available on the market today!
    Options like convection microwaves and gas ovens are still available and we'd love your feedback on how YOU would want one of these built for your personal use. Let us know in the comments & thank you for joining us again at Haylett RV!

      I think there's more single parent campers out there than people realize. But builders likely think "Well they can work for any bunkhouse so no big deal."

    Besides the old-school thermostat, I see these are still shipping with an old-school PWM solar charge controller instead of an efficient MPPT one. I also hear on Facebook that they're still using a DC power converter that isn't compatible with LiFePO4 batteries, so if you want to use lithium you have to replace that. The good news is all three of those components CAN be replaced relatively easily, but it sure would be nice to not have to.

      My understanding is Rockwood is aware of the limitations but due to supplier challenges they haven’t been able to switch things around

    Absolutely yes on the second solar panel!

  • @TonyYarusso
    @TonyYarusso 3 роки тому +44

    HECK YES on multiple solar panels. Panels have gotten pretty inexpensive now, so I'd cover the whole roof with them if I could, and things that require putting screw holes in the bit between rain and inside is a nice thing to have done and warrantied by the factory.

      many people use eterna bond tape to put flexible panels down just tape and go

    • @richarddietzen3137
      @richarddietzen3137 3 роки тому +1

      @@chefnic71 Tape is not recommended for “rubber” roofs on Rockwood, only for fiberglass. Azdel should have the panel screwed down and sealed to avoid pulling up the roof membrane with (wind) speed on a tape-down panel installation.

    I love the Geo Pro but I always prefer no slide. I think manufacturers should do more "overland" models with more solar that comes factory installed. The days of Gma and Gpa in their $200,000 Class A parking on concrete are over. Most people today want to go off grid, even Gma and Gpa, see beautiful places that require 4x4, and need a more rugged rig that is protected and higher.

    Let me give you a review from an actual owner instead of a salesman point of view. The stereo absolutely sucks, TV is ok. Bed feels like you are sleeping on a sack of flour. All the lights in the unit are awesome even in the daytime, and if one goes out they are like $10 on amazon to replace. Stove is super nice, sink is ok. The size is nice but the water hits the bottom and goes EVERYWHERE. People are having a hell of a time with the 12v fridge keeping things cold but I personally don't have a problem yet. Microwave works well but obviously is small. The bunks are more comfortable than the full size bed but super small. Tons of storage for everything except shoes and a trash can. the shower/tub is pretty nice but everyone in the last month or two has had a problem with the shower surround peeling the wallpaper up on the door side ( must be the same lazy person working on these every day). Toilet seems super nice and doesn't feel like it's going to break. Outside the camper is nice, and the solar does keep the batteries charged. I'd recommend adding a solar on the side panel so you can chase the sun and be a lot more efficient than adding another roof panel. The unit tows really nice and the axle keeps the camper from bouncing around like a sled. Overall I think this is the best in class camper and is actually worth the money they charge. Most units are super overpriced these days and you'd be wasting your money on anything else. Go join a Geo/E pro group on facebook and get some opinions but most people are happy with them.

      I am a 2021 owner.
      I threw out the stereo immediately. It’s the worst of the worst. I put in a double DIN which required a bit of multi-tool cutting. The wiring was incredibly simple. Made a huge difference. Also because we don’t boondock, I tossed the TV and put in a 32” Samsung. I used a converter, optical to rca, plugged the tv into the stereo so we can run sound. I used a 512 GB memory stick and loaded several hundred movies on it. Everything is now seamless for the kids.
      Also, the bed is easily made 10x better by a memory gel Queen topper off amazon for $60.
      We have 3 kids and I tow this with a BMW X6. It sleeps 5 perfectly and is easy to tow.

    You need a extra solar preferably a 400 watt one , 2000 inverter and 2 batteries and a oven . A microwave is useless unless you’re hooked up

  • @charlieb9954
    @charlieb9954 3 роки тому +6

    Convection oven all day and twice on Sunday definitely add the extra solar panel. The lack of camp sites width hookups is putting boondocking as a must do or you stay home.

    This is a great RV. I normally dont like bunk house models but this one is great. I like that the kitchen area does not have an oven. It's got a good amount of room to set up a good kitchen. The storage under the bottom bunk is well thought out both in the up or down position. This area and the front pass through area give this RV amazing storage. It should come standard with the second solor panel since they are economically priced. Upgraded batteries are a must too!
    P.S. A dutch oven, iron skillets and an air fryer can do a lot of things that are normally done in an oven.

    My first RV is a 2019 Mini Lite. It's great but, knowing what I know now, a smaller like this one would have been fine. I will say that Rockwoods seem to be built like a tank and they do good incremental improvements every year. The Azdel, TPMS, digital lock, and solar are all things mine didn't come with.

    I have had our Flagstaff ePro 20BHS with oven (the green twin) on order since February. It is targeted to be completed construction on Aug 2nd. I will likely have a second 190-watt panel installed at the dealer. As mentioned in another comment they should upgrade to an efficient MPPT solar controller and a compatible LiFePO4 battery DC power converter. I agree with improving the shower corner sink with a folding sink in the bathroom.

    The new solar upgrade available for most models from Rockwood Geo pro/Flagstaff E-pro changing the 1000 watt to a 3000 watt inverter and second solar panel should be the standard order. The extra upfront cost will pay for itself and I think most who are looking at this line will see it as such. Now they just need a soft start AC like Jayco offers on the '22 Feather micro!

    Sweet trailer. I would add another solar panel

  • @CC-fx4nn
    @CC-fx4nn 3 роки тому +3

    I prefer actually having the propane oven with the propane stove. It allows me to have the use of an oven without having to have 125V power connected to the unit. If I take a longer trip, then I don't have to plug the trailer in during layover stops to have an oven. We had a pretty nasty ice storm last winter where we were without power for about 12 days, and the RV was more or less used as an emergency shelter. Even though we had a generator to charge the batteries, having a way to cook that does not depend upon having electricity really made a difference.
    The sink in the shower setup is interesting...................you really would not care about splashing water around when you are trying to wash your face as it would just go in the shower. They should add a mirror of some sort above the sink for those of us who shave.
    I think they should just add the extra 190W solar panel so the unit comes with two 190W panels from the factory as standard equipment. The panels are getting cheap enough the cost would be negligible, but I think it would increase the off grid flexibility of the trailer substantially. It would also help to do a better job supporting that 12V fridge on cloudy days when the solar panels are not able to produce at full capacity.
    Although this would not be my floorpan of choice, I think Rockwood is doing a better job then most of looking into the minor details that help make the trailer a lot more usable and enjoyable. I also appreciate their attention to quality control as you detailed in your factory tour videos.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

      Theater seats aren't possible in really tiny trailers like this typically because they are so much physically larger and you cannot install them in a step-up slide most small camper require (since the slides usually land above the wheel wells and have to lift above the floor)
      There are some things without dinettes, though. Here's a sample: bit.ly/3LVYtHP

    Like the clearance and the off-grid improvements, although I don't know that everyone (or even most campers that spend much of their time in RV parks) are going to want/need the 2nd solar panel. I would but I'm out West where off-gird camping is more common, and I would upgrade the batteries with the 2nd panel option. I wish Rockwood hadn't punted on significant improvements in the 2022 models. I appreciate that they are making 2021 "options" into standard features on the 2022 models, but it's really the least they can do with all of the pricing increases over the past 12 months...so ultimately you're already going to be paying for them. I like the extra ground clearance and I'm always a fan of the Shower Miser, but don't love the new graphics. I wish that Jayco would incorporate the Shower miser in their ultra lights...I think that they are the last major brand holdout to not have it!

    I worry about the 12v fridge. I just got back from a camp where a new Arctic Fox and a Mallard both had 12v fridges and they had to run generators all night to keep the fridges from killing the batteries (and, in turn, the furnaces). The fox is less than 2 years old and has solar. It's hard to believe that a boon dock trailer wouldn't come standard with electric/propane fridge. What are y'all's thoughts?

You are not able to run the microwave on the sollar not having the solar system that can handle it, but it is possible. • @richarddietzen3137

    1) I just added the extra solar panel (total should be 390 watts) to my unbuilt late April order. I will be very ticked if the PWM inverter won’t charge lithium phosphate.
    2) I had to tell my dealer to look up the extra panel option “hadn’t heard of it”. Even though I had ordered the 12V fridge and single solar panel, the extra one was additional $440+ according to my salesperson in AR. Not too bad.
    3) Since the prior roof warranty was 10 years, I added the second factory install. The roof is still supposed to be under warranty ( vs a screwed down DIY panel added) with the factory panels, but according to new post-6/30/21 factory warranty (see FR/Rockwood website), the whole trailer only has a one year factory warranty, but 30 days for ‘minor’ flaws. Read it and weep.
    4) So I would like to know if they abandoned the 10 year roof warranty and other 3rd party warranties by the individual equipment manufacturers. The new Forest River one year warranty states no exceptions.
    4.1) I’m pretty sure the online Rockwood brochure states a 55 amp@ 12 volt inverter. This may be the same as the prior 1000 watt PWM inverter. No claim of mppt.
    4.2) I would like to know where the inverter is now located on GeoPro and Mini-light, as I will probably want to change it for an MPPT /lithium inverter after the warranty expires. Some say it is behind the solar control in the wall.
    AND, Thanks all your work and for any additional information.

    • @TonyYarusso
      @TonyYarusso 3 роки тому +2

      You’re confusing three different devices. The “inverter” is the thing that lets you run 120VAC household outlets off a 12VDC battery. This is the thing that’s 1000 watts. The “solar charge controller” is what takes power from solar panels and uses it to recharge the batteries. This is what can be either PWM or MPPT. The one of these currently shipping is PWM, but it DOES support LiFePO4 batteries. Finally, the “converter” is what takes 120VAC shore power and uses that to recharge the battery and also run DC stuff directly. This is the device that currently does NOT support LiFePO4 batteries.

    Extra solar is an easy install with the wire connection already on the roof. I would add a matching panel. Has your service department added hitches for bike racks or generators?
