    I recently upgraded to the Canon R50 with a Nisi 9mm f/2.8, love the sun flare on this lens. Also highly recommend the Benro Geared Head, absolute precision, much improved workflow. And now with the R50, I can shoot in 4K @30fps with no crop, slow it down to 80% in post and it yields cinematic results. I had to train myself to do slow movements after almost 2 decades of shooting college and pro sports. Did a lot of hand held camera for Islander games and world news now at abc way back when. Miss the ole barn, the Nassau Coliseum was great. Anyway, I really enjoy watching your RE videos, they're among the very best! 👍

      Thanks man! Yea I’ve seen my bruins play the islanders a few times at the coliseum. I have the Benro geared head also, I use it for my interior photography. 👍 I recommend that head to people as well, good call by you. I shoot a lot of my RE videos on a slider now also. I shoot it at 4k30 full frame and don’t even have to slow the footage down usually. Love it! Thanks for the comment!

    Great video! I bought the Laowa for the Canon M50 aps-c shooting real estate photos and videos after returning several that were just inadequate for RE, and frankly weren't nearly as good. The Laowa is a phenomenal lens, a real estate powerhouse. I definitely prefer a manual, just set it to infinity and most everything is in sharp focus.
    There is no need to invest in a full-frame camera with another lens that could be as much as $4,500. With the Canon M50 and Laowa 9mm f2.8, all in I'm at $775. For under $800, you can have amazing and more importantly, professional results.

    With the Canon M50 not known for its great low light capability, I have found shooting in 1080p @24fps and shutter @1/50 yields better results for this camera body coupled the Laowa 9mm f2.8, and find the exteriors look crisper at f/8 - 9, but the interiors are definitely shot at f/2.8. It's true what they say, know your camera.

    • @brianphelps2506
      @brianphelps2506  Рік тому +1

      Yes indeed. Interiors I always try to shoot at 2.8. Exteriors I find myself between f8 and f11 for wide angle shots. If I try to do a more detailed shot outside (50-85mm) I will go heavy ND to shoot at f4.5 so its a totally different look and feel compared to the wide angle closed down shots.👍

    You set the aperture to 2.8, the shutter speed is fixed, ISO to 800 or 3200 base. How do you regulate the exposure then? Do you always use an ND filter?

    • @brianphelps2506

      Inside i am always at 2.8 for my wide shots. 4k60 so im at 125 shutter speed. So yes, i regulate my exposure by my ISO using my native ISO's as much as possible, 800 and 3200 for A74. Outside i raise my f stop if needed to stay at the 125 shutter with 800 ISO if possible. I also use ND filters when needed especially doing my detail shots. @@robtherealtortx 16-35 is a bigger filter size. So you would get a set of ND filters for that lens and then get a set of filter step up rings. If you think your eventually going to get a new lens with a bigger filter size maybe get the filters for that and then get the rings. You can get a variable ND if you want, or get a set of a few that you will have to change according to how much ND you need. I personally still use the multiple filters and change them out. Up to you though.

    I’m still confused. You put a lot of emphasis on opening the lens up to let in light but the lens you are using is APS-C which means you aren’t using the full sensor. I’m not criticising, your picture quality is stunning, I simply am assuming a full frame lens would give you better low light performance.

    • @brianphelps2506
      @brianphelps2506  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the confusion. I am shooting on the Sony A74 in 4k60 for my wide angle walkthroughs. That camera has a super35 crop in 4k60. So that's why I use the 9mm laowa lens because I'm in APS-C mode in 4K60. You don't have the option to shoot in full frame in 4k60 on the a74. When I switch lens to get tighter shots, I shoot a lot in 4k30 so i use full frame lenses then because your able to shoot full frame in 4k30. If I shoot in 1080 60fps or with another camera like the A7S3 i have the Laowa 12mm and thats a full frame lens. Sorry for the confusion, I hope this helps. Any other questions please just ask.

    what if I don't have a camera that shoots log or 10bit because I can't afford the sonys right now( north of $3000 ) any hopes of shooting great shots like yours? Can you talk a little more about your gimbal moves and settings as I feel that's the major play factor for interesting and smooth real estate videos vs buying the most expensive camera ( no matter how great the gear is, if footage is jittery or not just interesting like yours, it don't mean a thang!! )

    • @brianphelps2506

      100%!!!!!! Just get a camera that shoots 60fps. My gimbal moves are slow, look up gimbal ninja walk you will find tons of videos. Smooth walk and use simple moves. Push ins, pans ect, just focus on being clean at first. Then take that footage and put it on a 30fps timeline. That will give you that smooth buttery feel. As far as cameras go, maybe look into getting a Sony A73. You can find them for 1600 or cheaper used. Then just use 1080p 60fps. Then later down the line grab a A74 or A7s3 once you outgrow your camera. I will say this... I used to shoot with Nikon cameras, and the video quality was nothing like my Sonys. But, you can still get great footage with it. The Sony's have superior highlight roll off. You get better highlights to shadows. Also is much easier to color grade and looks amazing at high ISO unlike the nikon. I have a video on here that i shot with a Z6 (in 10bit 422 color going through atomos ninja V), i will link it below. But if you are asking for my opinion and you don't have a body yet, go Sony. I wish i did earlier. But whatever you get just make sure it shoots in at least 60fps.

      @@DronieBoy Here is the link for the phantom luts. You get all the luts when you purchase, they are amazing. Some of my other videos on here you can see different style luts from the lut pack. The last yoga video i uploaded was with the Eterna lut, in case you want to see another style. Not sure what camera you have, but if you have the A74 just get the A7s3 luts. Have you tried pro res with the atomos or do you use xavc?

      Atomos won’t record raw with a74. I only use the atomos for viewing when shooting. I usually shoot in XAVCS 4K for all my projects.

      @@brianphelps2506 Thanks for getting back. Can it shoot pro res 422 or any of the other codecs?

      @@lavishlinks6607 no. If you get the A7s3 that will do 16bit raw and pro res 422 through atomos ninja. To be honest I love the files coming right out of this camera. Easy to edit and they look amazing. If you want raw, then go a7s3. I love that camera also but the a74 has some benefits over the a7s3 for what I do.
