Still love the frontal look of the original model. Great video.

Amazing journey - how did you have enough fuel? The map on your website does not look like it has enough fuel stops to cover your journey? Did you ever run out of fuel and need to wait for assistance? It is incredible you could do this journey.
With rear tanks, that can be seen in the video, for a total of ~36l for the XRV and ~28 for the CRF. An extra makeshift canister was necessary for the latter on the longest stretches. More details in this section: www.africatime.bike/p/tecnica.html#serbatoi (you can use the auto-translate option of the website to get it in an understandable, albeit funny, English)
We got fuel in all and only the places marked in the map. Never run out this time, but that happened to us 80 km from Atar on the Tidjikja-Atar piste in 2006 (there wasn't a single km of tarmac there at the time and we lost our way a couple more times than hoped). We managed to get help from local nomads (paid help of course...). It's otherwise very hard to get any kind of assistance.
Amazing.
Is it possible to see the locations or the track? Awesome video!😎
Thanks! You can find tracks for this trip in the map that is included in this blog post:

'Stupendo' ❣️ I had a similar RD07A and think I recognised sceneries where I rode in 2012 Maybe I missed it in UK but which AT you found best in its element... ⁉️
@@africarie Thanks! More HPs make the CRF1000 a clear winner while riding, but still, the XRV is unbeatable for its simplicity and ease of maintenance/repairs. For a long overland trips that can make a true difference. We still love it better.
@@ItsAfricaTime I am not surprised and I switched to a Ténéré 660 last year after a few happy years on an 990 ADV: in the end reliability is more valuable than power imho. Keep the shiny side always up!
I would pay everything to make such a trip.
Nonostante mi piaccia quella nuova io continuo a preferire il 750, parere personale...
Which bike was better;)
Short answer: The CRF1000 for horsepower, but the XRV for ease of maintenance and reliability.
Long answer: see www.africatime.bike/p/the-verdict.html !
За музыкой не слышно двигатель. Очень жаль.
Einfach nur edel, eben Africa Twin by Honda !!!
