    This was the video I was looking for there is a lot of yellow areas close to where I live and no other videos show me what was the significance of these areas and more importantly whether it was legal to fly in them or not. You have answered my question concisely and I really appreciate that

    How haven't you got even more subs? I love these videos! I'm on a binge-watch
    Really informative and well explained.
    I'm going to link to these from my website as instructional videos.
    More please. Great work! 👍👍

    Thank you - exactly what I was looking for. Just considering buying my first drone and wanted to see where locally I could fly ... got the drone assist app and saw LOADS of yellow areas making me think I wouldn't be able to do much locally. But they're mainly geological ones so I can 😁👍

    Interesting video and nicely put together - looking forward to your future videos.
    Just a heads up on two technical points on the actual video.
    Your talking heads part has the audio only coming out of the left channel - I fell into that on one of my videos. It simply means your audio is mono (which is good) but has only been set onto the left channel and not duplicated to the right channel. The solution is to duplicate the mono so it comes out of both left and right channels.
    Second point is the music is too loud compared to your taking to camera. I’m listening through headphones and after I’d set the volume to your voice my ears were blown out when the music came on.
    By the way - your voiceover came out on both channels.
    If you’re using Davinci Resolve right click the audio and select clip attributes and you’ll see the two channels.
    The reason I’m so familiar with all this is I did the same on one of my videos and a friend who listened through headphones alerted me so I could fix it.

      Thanks for the heads up. I am using DaVinci resolve, but I’m new to it, so the advice is very welcome

    So do you need to request for authorization for those yellow shaded areas also I realized some areas are not color coded in drone assist but the moment you plan a flight the status changes to red zone even though it wasn’t shaded

      Yellow areas are warning areas and as such you can fly in the airspace. You might find if you ask to take off and land from the owners of the land covered by the yellow warning they might refuse you permission to fly. If you behave responsibly and fly from those areas without asking permission and a ranger or owner of the land sees you doing this that might ask you to stop, or even leave. As long as you’ve not damaged any wildlife you’re unlikely to have broken the law

    Great video, thanks.
    As many SSSIs come under Natural England, isn’t there a blanket ban on drones in these areas, or is it mainly about taking off and landing from SSSIs, rather than overflying them.
    Vast areas of the East Coast’s beaches now have SSSIs so does this mean drones cannot take off and land in these areas, even if there are no bylaws prohibiting drone flights?

      Hi thanks for the comment. I think many land owners will deny requests to TOAL from their land just because they think they’re the easy target to sue if there’s a problem with the flight. National trust, and English heritage are in this group too.
      Yellow areas are just for warning and it’s not expressly forbidden to fly drones there. Just don’t disturb the wildlife!

      Thanks for your reply. Hue swaths of east coastal beaches are now SSSIs under Natural England, however people still participate in jet skying and surfing in these areas, unless I am mistaken.

    Nice video thank you! Drone assist is great but be nice if they had a chart/legend on web site/app explaining the colours. I know it shows on app when you click on an area but a separate legend would be nice! Bit confused about yellow areas near me, one is a graveyard and says ground hazard, operation of your drone may raise security or privacy issues? Is this just because they might be a funeral or someone mourning? Like I said the drone assist app is great but sometimes unclear about certain area restrictions.

    • @Firefly_UAV
      @Firefly_UAV  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your comment. The yellow area will just be a courtesy to avoid that area at times. Places like train lines, just use your common sense and don’t get too close to them. Obviously this is all subject to your drone mass

      @@Firefly_UAV Thanks for the reply. Yeah thanks for clearing that up! I have a massive open field near my house so I fly my Avata 2 there and other areas more built up I take my Mini 4 Pro (sub 250g). Thank you again!

      It could be worth getting an A2cofc as you can then fly the avata 2 in the A1 subcategory- just not over people

    Great video I am a new drone operator and am enjoying your content i’m finding it very informative I am still confused about small airfield in the yellow area with no frz is it just that there is an increased risk in the area? Or of the airport rules come in and have to be 5km away could you clarify this for me as I live within a yellow zone of a small airfield and am 2.34km from the runway! Any help would be appreciated sorry if you’ve been asked this question 1 million times just trying go get my head around it

      Thanks for your comment. I’m glad my videos have helped.
      If it’s just a small airfield with out a FRZ then you’re good to fly. Remember that it’s always your responsibility to see and avoid other aircraft, so make sure you’ve got a good view of your drone especially when flying near small airfields. Have fun flying!

    Found the yellow zones quite confusing on the map, I.e whether they were simply caution warning areas or restrictions, the area I’m in seems to be full of them making it a bit of a nightmare for those new to the hobby.

    Good informative video . I'm extremely new to the drone world, I only have a 'toy drone' at present but I'm about to invest in either a dji mini 4k or Potensic Atom . I have the Drone Assist app and now understand how to use it much better thanks to your video. My question is (over and above the SSSI areas ) how , in your experience , do you deal with local councils and their bye laws. I live in Bournemouth and have been told by a few people that its forbidden to fly in local parks etc run by the council. I've tried finding out further information on their website but there doesn't seem to be anything relating to drones . Once again many thanks for the information provided, I've subscribed to your channel and watched more of your videos, keep up the good work.
    Cheers Terry.

      Thanks for your comment Terry. If you’ve checked the website and can find no mention of any bylaw and looked in the park you I tend to fly to look for signs then I’d say you’ve done your due diligence. Somone did do a freedom of information request to all the councils in the UK to ask about drones and bylaws. I can’t remember where inseam it, but I’m sure you’ll find a thread about it on the grey arrows website. If you call and ask for permission they are likely to deny that permission as the did in one of my videos on clitheroe castle a couple of years back. Also be aware of the airshow in Bournemouth and the temporary restrictions that might go with it - check drone assist every time before you fly.
      Good luck with your droning and have lots of fun!

    I don’t think the law is actually relevant in regards to SSSI sites. The majority of these are private and will have their own rules regarding drone flying and should be adhered to. I have had an interaction with a drone pilot who repeatedly told me he was within the law and simply would not accept that I could prevent him from flying. The police had to be called and the gentleman was removed from site, it was all rather unnecessary.

    • @Firefly_UAV
      @Firefly_UAV  18 днів тому +1

      Yes you’re correct. Any land owner can stop people from taking off and landing from their land. Theirs a lot of disinformation about this and al lot of it comes from ‘auditors’. I have covered this in my take off and landing video. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who don’t understand this! I’m sorry you had a poor interaction with someone flying a drone
