- When it comes to African big games, the hairier the better, the skins are quite different and some say its due to the salting they do in Africa, Im not sure, but they are not as easy and stretchy as NA games. Hope you enjoy the video.

Nice to see someone else, besides myself, traditionally wearing a lab coat over their clothing while working! Bravo!
When I get worked up I have to change that with an apron ;-)
@@ArtofTaxidermy I hear you ... especially in the warmer months ... but in the late fall and winter, it's nice to wear one! ;)
Very good video and your an excellent instructor!
Thank you.
Would you be willing to do a video of fitting ear liners and removing cartilage? I am going to be doing a gemsbok for a friend and have always just done whitetails and left the cartilage in and used the bondo method. Really looking for some help!! Thanks, Alex.
Hey Alex. you can easily use bondo for the african game heads too, in fact some taxidermists prefer bondo on africans too...I will make a note on how to do ears no problem but honestly these every video I post has been done months ago and even if I do an ear video today it wont be posted for months till I get to it,, I have a big list of videos that need to be done.
Any tips for a waterbuck? I plan on taxidermy-ing one soon, want to know if you had any tips or warnings about them.
I have only done a couple. They are actually very easy to mount.
DUDE, YOU SEW FASTER THAN SPEEDY GONZALEZ!!
Hahaha, in the video yes..
Have you tried a Jet Smith oryx form?
Not yet.... I don’t do many African animals yo make me want to try different forms.
You don’t use clay for the ear bases? How do you do yours?
Yes I do. It’s probably not that easy to see in the video. Around 5:13 you will see I’m pushing balls of clay into the ear base.
@@ArtofTaxidermy thanks for the quick reply! Watching your videos is inspiring.
Gemsbok are weird. I’ve tanned plenty and some are paper thin while others are borderline Cape buffalo thick.
Well... I don’t tan them. So every time I get them they are almost the same 😄
