Overall, great video! Very informative, thanks! I will say.. if people are watching a "beginner" ceramics video on UA-cam, we probably do NOT have a kiln at home... I'm only pointing this out because firing info, like where or how when I don't have my own kiln, is exactly the sort of info a beginner like me is looking for (the info about how you fire your students' projects for them was helpful). Thanks! 😁
I love how detailed were your videos... I was searching for a part 3 and how you fire them etc. I wanted to make a couple of ceramic tiles for my coffee table, and I am not sure if I can find somewhere to do thd rest of steps for me or not.
Hi, your ceramic tile tutorial is the most detailed on UA-cam! But, how did you get the other colors on the tiles before you added the glaze? Also, what kind of kiln is best to purchase for a project this size? Thank you! And great job with these videos! They are great!
Oh wow! Thank you! I just used the squeeze bottle to glaze the entire tile. You can also put a solid base color of glaze before you do the details. My current kiln is a Skutt KM 822-3. But research the size of kilns you need for what you do. Also make sure you look into the power outlets you have. You may need an electrician to set up the right kind of outlet.
The temperature set for the kiln (the cone), depends on the type of clay and glaze you use. Each clay needs to be fired at a specific temperature depending on what kind it is. Typically when you buy clay it will let you know what cone to fire it to. Same with glazes.

Those black and white tiles are awesome

@@HardShellSlimySnail Thank you so much! :D
This is so helpful! Thank you! I want to make a tile and imbed flowers on the top. Maybe you could do a video on that?🙏
What kind of clear glaze do you use please? Like what is it called? Thank you
Mayco Glaze NT-CLR Clear One Dipping
I love this great job
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing amazing works! and these tiles don't need bisque firing before glazing?
Thank you! I used Underglaze on the green ware. I did not bisque fire them.
Hi, how were these tiles fired in the kiln without them warping? Thanks!
I just lay them flat on the kiln shelf. If you are having issues with warping maybe fire at a slower rate.
I was hoping to get some information about the firing in the kiln. what degrees ? How long ? But very very good class otherwise . Thank you so much

@@HardShellSlimySnail thank you very much . Very good explanation
Hey! How much did it cost per tile? I want to make a whole room out of them! And can you make them water resistant for the bathroom?
The cost depends on the cost of clay and glaze you buy. Tiles are waterproof because they are fired in a kiln with a glaze.
By Chance is that Ryan Farish music in your background?
Wow. Thanks 😊
Thank you! Great!
What about the tiles that they are selling how do they get the slab
Most tiles made for stores are made by machines. They use a giant slab roller.
Thank you this is my dream
How do we join your zoom class
When I have Zoom classes I will announce them on my website under Classes. (Right now I do not have any scheduled) hardshellslimysnail.com/classes/
Ah yep, you got it here too.
Lovely and helpful but a bit slow and repetitive in some parts, feel like talking very basic, sorry I am a bit impatient too😂🤣
