  • In this video I cover my travel costs for the first quarter of 2024. January, February, and March cost me $229.41 in gas for the 449 miles driven. I also include a small rant on social media impact on our public lands.
    Thank you for being here.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
    Thanks for watching!

I am amazed with the sense of entitlement that certain viewers feel should be afforded them. It is certainly not your job to provide any information whatsoever of where you are, what you are doing or anything else for that matter. You provide awesome content and more than enough information about the incredible places you visit.and off-grid living. Sadly, there will always be naysayers and armchair critics. Keep on doing what you are doing! There are many of us who appreciate all that you offer and share with us without needing to know information that is not our business, nor should it be!! :).

Too many entitled viewers and only getting worse, on all channels that I watch. Not only entitled, but controlling. 'You should be doing this'? that and everything you can imagine. Unbelievable some statements.

Hello Brian. My first career was in the auto business on the service side. In all my years I don't think I have ever seen a windshield crack that wasn't caused by a rock chip. If you have glass coverage on your insurance policy turn in the claim. Most insurance companies to do not count glass as a claim. Some rock chips are tiny but the way to find them is you take a pen and start from one end of the crack and lightly trace the line. The pen will skip when you hit the rock chip. You are so correct for not sharing your location. I would think that would be an absolute for all UA-camrs. The exception might be a review of a paid RV park and only after they have left. Thanks again for sharing.

Social media is a double edged sword, it shows you a great vacation spot, then ruins it at the same time. I find myself watching too many videos of a place I am going to visit to the point I feel like I have already been there when I arrive. Kind of takes away the fun exploring and discovering it for yourself.

You have EVERY right to maintain your privacy. You do not owe us your privacy and camping on the exact grains of sand that you did will not enhance our camping experience. You share so many really useful things; places to go, things to do, how to build and repair things, how to clean your campsite on arrival and on exit, and so much more. Share what you are comfortable with and we can mind our own business about the rest. Thank you for all you do for so many years; from carving spoons, to playing the flute, to making a meal and more. It is noted and appreciated.

Keep your location private. I know one UA-camr, who was on a cruise ship and he was posting videos. He inadvertently said his cabin number, fans of his UA-cam channel showed up unexpectedly to his cabin! I just recently started watching you because one of your videos popped up on my UA-cam feed. I appreciate you not disclosing where you are. I've experienced going back to a once secluded spot and having it trashed.
Ioverlander is bad for this. Yes it can be helpful but last year I went to a little campsite and it was overflowing with campers treating the place like their personal garbage can and party zone. I found a place farther in. A local came by and told me that place used to be a quiet little fishing spot until it was posted.
There is a lake near where I live that is uniquely beautiful. It was posted on travel blogs and it was so over run and trashed it got shut down for awhile.
Another time I told some people where a beautiful creek canyon hike was. They went and had a rave there. I don't have a channel this was just word of mouth. Places are more and more crowded and quiet seclusion in pretty places is harder to find everywhere. So yeah...shhhh.
