Absolute golden. What a blessing to have this available to listen to. It's truly a shame that these ideas don't resound through popular culture and captivate the minds of more people. As I am typing this I am reminded of a quote that Dostoyevsky's underground man said, "I like to refer to humans as the 'ungrateful bipedal.'"

22:47 That whole segment is powerful-
“When Percival asks the question, remember: he only had to ask it! He didn't have to be wise enough to answer it; only to ask it! … I'd take an enormous encouragement from the fact that I have _only to formulate_ the question; I don't have to be smart enough to answer it. Somebody has said that it takes 90% of one's energy to formulate the right question, and only 10% to answer it. To ask a real question is to be very close to its answer.”

I deleted my previous comment where I complained about music. I enjoy listening to this guy so much that I decided to give this another listen, and am glad I did this time.
That said and I’d suggest being careful with the use of music in videos like these. I imagine that I wouldn’t be the only person who would stop listening because of music I find to be too distracting.
Still, this is a great video.

I’m listening to "He" on Audible now. It's Robert's book on the grail story. It's slow going because there's a gem in every paragraph to ponder. 😊 As there is in this video too.

Maybe it is the third time I watch and especially hear this recording. It is so beautiful and elegant how he speaks and explains so clearly with not one word to many! What I was hit by this time is the importance of awareness to transitions, thresholds, huge and small ones - entering a house through the frontdoor - leaving the kitchen - ending a meeting and so on. And how we don't have any ceremonies or rituals in my culture any more and especially no awareness. I am so grateful you share his wisdom here with me/us 🕯thank you from my heart! (I've even bought some of RJs books now even English isn't my language) ❤

Thank you for uploading these gems! There used to be a collection of his audio recordings on UA-cam (including The Mahabharata, The Wounded Feeling Function etc.) but they have been removed for copyright infringement. Leaving no alternative place to listen to these materials - one cannot even buy them! If you know of some way to access them please let me know 🙏🏽

The copyright claim was for the photo image of Robert that appeared on the thumbnails and in the videos mentioned by David. The uploader was asked to voluntarily remove them. They had the opportunity to use a different image and then re-upload the videos. They did not do this so UA-cam deleted their channel. This is a tragedy for those who cherished the videos. I suspect the audio in the videos were pirated as well from some as yet unknown source. It would be great for the community if the owners of the original audio recordings could, or would make them available.

      Such an incalculable loss 😔
If anyone is able to track the source that posted those videos on You Tube and ask/ offer to help repost them with the needed small alteration, it would be a tremendous contribution to our collective psyche.
I lament that I missed them!

I have been living in India for the last 50 years - periods of 15 years at a time, and in the United States at other times. modern India and Indians do not have the level of awareness or the presence that he is speaking of. It isn't like America, but it surely isn't what it used to be. It has embraced much of the practices and tendencies of the west, thanks to American power, technology and inclinations.

How come, that at around 40min Robert Johnson says that ever since the wound of the fisher king Western man has had trouble with creativity? Western society has arguably been the most creative in the world in the past few hundred years. How might Robert Johnson explain this?

    • @RobertsWisdom
      @RobertsWisdom  5 місяців тому

I think Robert might ask what level of creativity are you referring to? He's speaking in an inner sense.

@@M-i-k-a-e-l Honestly I don’t even know what a spiral movement is. It just seems to be the case that most psychological issues don’t go away instantly or forever. There are typically triggers that may remain triggers for a long time or even lifetime.
Jung, as I understand, not only treated his patients’ issues but also prepared them to deal with ongoing aspects of their issues, not expecting them to be completely cured.

Holy Wow. Here's a meaningless statement that strangely holds a little meaning yet - If this man had been born 500 years earlier than today, I feel sure he would have become a Christian mystic that we would be studying and reading about in Sunday school.
