This documentary is telling the story of Cambodians living with the dead.
After the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, Phnom Penh has undergone rapid development with the emergence of skyscrapers and construction. However, these high-end buildings are predominantly designed for wealthy Cambodians and foreigners, leaving the lower-middle class and below to reside in flats, rented houses, slums, or even cemeteries. Despite feeling scared, some residents have no other option but to stay.
This episode has been filmed in April 2018.

"But I need to live with it because I don't have enough money. This is what I can afford." Truer words have never been spoken. This is how a lot of people all over the world feel.
It is not the dead one must fear, it is the living.
How does this not have more views??

0:38 i love watching your documentary, from Philippines 😊 Godbless you more.
keep up the good work guys
Thanks.
Very informative video. It’s sad to know that the Cambodian government is allowing foreign investors to buy in their country when their own people are starving, living under poverty and homeless, that’s not ok! I think Vietnamese government doesn’t allow foreigners to buy land or property in their country. Those people living in the cemetery is sad to see. In Vietnam, they bury their loved ones in their backyards or around their homes, but it’s their loved ones & their land. It’s not the same as living in a cemetery and trying to make it home. I haven’t been to Cambodia yet, on my bucket list. I don’t like to see all the high rises! It’s not them, it’s the West and China’s infrastructure and influence! I do hope they live better lives and the government helps their own people! Bless them 🫶🏻🫶🏻🙏🙏🙏
Because Phnom Penh want "fast and fresh money" from outside (mostly from China). In another YT channel, you can watch how China dominating Cambodian economy with resort and gambling house.

Can you imagine in the next 50 to 100 years, the name of Cambodia will be covered by a red color silky robe called "New China"? 🤔
So rather be private section behind all the investor because of the face country ??? Most big company from Malaysia Singapore and Thailand those owner all has Chinese blood . The thing is Cambodia want fast development it’s open for every investor .
Also we all know that China has the most money in real estate . Of course they would dominate. Unlike foreigner most Cambodian invest on villa house or borey rather than condos also there are many Japan and Korea development here it’s just less than China
But the corruption in the country is what make it worst . Now even Chinese start abandon Cambodia Ex : Sihanoukville nowadays is full of crime gun violence and human trafficking
งานดีทุกคลิปเลยครับ ติดตามเสมอครับ

Not everywhere In the philippines
It’s a terrible place to live. I feel awful for these people.
That must be an old Chinese and/or Vietnamese cemetery due to the individual mausoleum-like graves. Cambodians typically cremate their dead. Their ashes are then deposited in a stupa at a temple.
New subscriber here,, watching from Morroco
Thanks for subbing!
We have Filipino people living in graveyard too 😢
I watched the video too,. Do not let china take over your country.
"This beautiful urban lake" - I guess the narrator was not given the footage to watch whilst he read his script
😂😂😂😂
Isn’t the currency called Reel? Not batt? 🤷🏽♀️
The documentary is originally from Thai channel and they translated to English.
Yes it is Riel
Very sad for the poor ones indeed.
Cambodia will always be a "Land of Contrast" and no one can really understand its people's mentality.
4:47 Cambodia uses Khmer Riel not Thai Baht. 😊
The government needs to put their people first, not Chinese money/debt traps. But to be able to build up, they NEED to accept the foreign money which comes with strings attached. Very tough situation.
Most things said in this video about Cambodia are correct besides salary, salary income is wrong, and the average salary in Cambodia right now in 2024 is around $250-$350 monthly. 2009 average income was nowhere near $457 said in this video. 2017 income was definitely nowhere near $1376. If you're able to get $400-$500 monthly right now in Cambodia you're lucky. 2024 the most paid provinces is Khampong Soam right now which is mainly business run by Chinese casino and othere, average salary income there is around $350-$400
They serve where the money is and despite surviving Pol Pot, the Khmer people are still trapped under a tyrannical dictator.
Egyptian living in cemetery too
That old lady blames capitalism but its crappy west taiwan investments building all those skyscrapers around her land 🙄
Crappy investments. That's capitalism.
@@allegraferrente7980 investments held by people from a communist country. 🙄
You have to be a fool to buy a condo in cambodia. Just outside your fancy apartment there will be starving folks willing to eat you alive.
Heartbreaking to see what's happening to My Cambo People. I've had the PRIVILEGE to kick it and spend time with Cambo's. Cambodians are horrible people. bad people. in every sense of the word
lots of vacant properties.
Over populations is the big problem around the world, people should stop having too many babies and first fix the economy around the world or next, this is scary to say it but we will be eating one each other literally.😢
Cambodia has enough land for Cambodians. The corruption has sold the nation to Chinese
Chinese colonialism.
