UPDATE: After 3 years of watching Starbase coverage, it’s come to my attention that the counter weights are 12.5 tons and not 10. We found a label on one of them yesterday. The LR11350 used 10 tons CW’s so we assumed the ones from SpaceX’s LR11000 were the same.
Anyways that brings the total weight to 600 tons. Which means the factor of safety is 1.32, not 1.1!
Wonderful video! Did you made the CGI of the clamps and the entire batch before SpaceX started testing? Looks like serious amount of work in the animation.
@@nectismanta8080 Indeed, Ryan Hansen completed these for us before testing started. It was a very busy weekend figuring out what was going on. He released them on Twitter about 6 hours before this video was released. I'm seeing these renders in lots of other videos now.
@@nectismanta8080 Yes Ryan finished it right before it was lifted in. He actually finished it like 6 hours before them but we realized at the last minute that the yellow swivel bearing was upside down and had to fix it. Lol.
@@glitter_fart Most likely the clamps are constructed to actually have a 100% safety margin, but it seems the function testing exceeds the maximum load only by the estimated 30 %. Enough to proof its function properly. Going all the way up to 200% load would most likely damage the clamps to some extent. Not to break at that point, but to be permantently deformed and weakened.
@@glitter_fart That's probably NASA's first though also.
It is exactly that point in the way Elon Musk thinks that has led us to SpaceX supplying the ISS and not NASA or Roscommon or ESA or anyone else in humanity.
This video shows something really important. Zack can now release videos under 60 minutes and while they are still relevant. Great video, great renders, and great photos! Can't wait to see more.
🤣
rough
Personally, I really like this short-but-packed-with-info style. Keep 'em coming I need my Starship dopamine fix.
I think the renders were done by someone else on Twitter.
Also, it doesn’t matter when other channels post, we are #teamspace
@@rogerhalt3991 Ryan posted the render a few hours before this video went live. We worked together on it and I wanted him to get his own following up as he deserves to. Didn’t want to make the animation exclusive to this video
You're my go-to person to get the best technical details of what's going on with starship launch system. Great episode!
It's called an engineering degree. Always top notch. Cream the crop.
Thank you!! Crazy hearing so many people say similar comments. Means a lot
Good to see they’re testing the clamps and making sure they can withstand the weight. Keep up the great work as always Zack
heh

Bro, I've recently been biging up quality channels, that deliver real value. You're there man! Kudos!
Thanks for providing us with something that's as least good enough for you. I'm glad you have high standards!
The best starship coverage is this channel - great work
As always, amazing and in-depth content Zack! I can't get enough of your deep dives.
Nice job Zack on getting this out and answering some of the questions I am constantly seeing in the various chats. As always, have a great day, and thank you again for taking the time to do this so that many more people can be informed.
Best Starship video I’ve watched the past two months.
Thank you!
Clear and concise.
To quote Monty B: Excellent!
This is the first of your videos I've seen. I'l be watching them all from now on. Excellent work.
Awesome, thank you!
Another fantastic update zac and crew 👊
the most informative SpaceX content. No more looking at robocam videos with no context.
LOve your CSI updates Zack! Keep them coming!
Another brilliant video! Great work Ryan, Zack and, csi starbase team/family!!!
Love your sit Zac, you are so damn knowledgeable that I enjoy your longer vids... but watch them all irregardless of length, thank you my friend, George...
Always love a CSI video!
I'm a retired boilermaker and worked many refineries and PowerPlants your report was so good I enjoyed how you explained it so well I understood it completely since I've had to do multi crane lifts in my career I was on the first big blue lift by Lampson at Hanford Washington in 1979 and 1980 nice to see how far engineering has come l9ved it and great video
Thank you!!!
Great production quality, man. You are killing it.
Great video! As far as I know your video reports are the only ones with meaningful technical content. Congrats from Spain.
Wow, thanks!
Zack - Damn Good VID - So many Channels just rehash old news - while claiming it as exclusive. Thank You
this is a deep insight into the works of the QD system. love it!
Man this is the first time I ever heard of your channel, this was super interesting! From someone whos been following spacex very closely for years and years this was the first time in ages I got actual good and interesting new info, thanks for a great video!
Thank you! Feel free to share with someone else you think might enjoy it!
Best deep dive on this site. Well done mate.
How in the hell does this channel only have 31k subscribers!? Once again, fantastic info, very informative and succinctly presented. I'm recommending this channel to all my friends!
I thought I had already. Thanks for the reminder!
Well, most people are just people, you see. The percentage of them who are interested in space is not very high. Of those, the percentage that is interested in Starship is also not huge and of those, the percentage who are really into the nitty gritty technical details is even lower.
So, yeah. Some channels are for nerds like us :)
Zack, this is more brilliant stuff. You are the only source of high quality, technical analysis that I know of. What's more, you make it clear when you have facts and when it's intelligent conjecture, Truly fascinating, thank you.
Thank you!! Trying to improve each time
Nice! Thanx for getting this whole vid in basically real-time…
Gosh-dang, you found a fantastic neich! Love what you do! Keep doing it! 🙏🏼

You are killing it, man! Good job!
Gotta love these videos! Amazing work!
I don't grok word-pictures. This sort of animation makes everything crystal clear.
I saw the Versabar banner hanging under the launch mount. I looked them up. Then you come out with the great video explaining what is happening. Thanks for answering the questions I was thinking of.
Great channel!
Outstanding job Zack, I'm literally mesmerize watching and listening to your explanations and technical articulations.
I definitely look forward to each of your videos, there's always meat on the bone you might say That is nourishing to us rocket heads out here.
Yessss I was waiting for this, thank you!
Best explanation I’ve seen yet. Thank you!
Excellent video. Short and to the point. Included the details without getting windy.
Another quality engineering review, you are is easily the best channel for in depth Starship content.
Thank you!
Great video, great line of thought, i like the techcnical side of your videos
Beautiful work as usual, Zack. Thanks also to Starship Gazer for all the amazing images. It’s incredible all the information you’re able to gleam from images alone. Keep up the great work.
Nice one, Zack !!! Thanks, everyone involved.
Another excellent informative subject. Thanks Zack!
Very informative. Happy new subscriber here from England.
Wow, nice job on this presentation!!! I loved it!!!
Great presentation all around. I like this “express” format.
This stuff is Amazon. Love the detailed technical videos. Learning a lot
This show is a great way to learn about interesting and exciting engineering topics.
Thank you!
Great info Zach! It'll be great to see what 2023 brings for the SpaceX team.
Love the new format! A deep dive on news that's still breaking!
I won't be changing my format. Just adding to it!
Was not expecting such a method. Great Video! Learned something new
Glad you liked it!
Pretty amazing video. Thanks so much brother!
Nice episode! Lots of "food for thought"!
I love Zak's brain 🥰
Another excellent video Zack! 🤩
Thanks Matt!!! Aren't you on Discord?? I'm not sure why this didin't give you access to my discord
@@CSIStarbase Oh idk lol, link? You can DM me on Twitter if it's secret haha

I feel like I've had 2 birthdays in the past 4 months and this is the cherry on top.
Thank you Zack .. a fabulous update and as usual a full explanation in a language we can all understand ... Brilliant !!!
DUDE!!! That intro! Amazing work, once again.
Thank you! We have an even better one for the next episode
You managed to break that down so a very non-engineer type (as in ME) actually understood the content. I have to admit that the vehicle falling off the mount never crossed my mind. Outstanding vid!
Lol that was a fun animation to make.
Of course it wouldn’t look like that. But it was still hilarious.
Great video. Factual to the point and well produced with excellent graphics and editing. Well done.
Happy New Year Zack! Exciting times!
Same to you!
wow, this channel come out from nowhere and it seem that it is already better than the other tons of channels giving news on spacex.
Thank you. I mostly existed on twitter before this. But I also did some writing for some other youtubers before deciding to create my own channel!
@@CSIStarbase good choice, keep up with the good work.. I become boring of the other channels which they usually repeat the same things, or they make a 20 min video of a tweet.
I like your idea for the channel. Good analysis.
Excellent video and animation and photos thanks guys.
I've been not paying attention to the starship scene for a month or so, but your videos let me just hop back in and understand everything. amazing videos and explanations. thank you!
THank you! I know a lot of people have lost interest so the goal is to inform them on what they missed
Grove cranes are fantastic. I’ve worked with them lots. Massively impressed by your videos. The quality is great and the style is unique in a good way. Looking forward to more good sir!
Thank you!!
Yay! New video I'm excited.
Beautiful video. Thanks for your hard work!
My pleasure!
The special report format was really great. Fantastic content, thank you!
Great update!
I want to thank you for something completely different from what the other channels do.
Really been getting tired of the other SpaceX reporting channels parroting each other. You're going into a little more detail is appreciated thank you.
Thank you! There is usually much more going on that worth talking about other than major milestones. So I try to give people reasons to stay interested in Starship
Amazing Job! I thoroughly enjoy your snooping!
Superb info thanks again.
My friend and I were out at the dunes when they were using Grover the crane. Very cool to now know what they were doing.
Hope you had a good time out there!
@@CSIStarbase Always! Spending most of the winter at Rocket Ranch Boca Chica.
A great vid Zac! Thanks to you, Gazer, and Ryan for such an amazing effort! You guys are awesome!
Enjoy your calm and very informative presentations. Stressing the dynamic forces involved to create a successful launch creates the excitement and interest that is necessary to provide the public support that’s required for our space industry.
Agreed. A lot of people have become disinterested over the last year. Trying to fix that where ever possible by explaining the behind the scenes stuff
Brilliant as always
Wow, wow, what a quality!
Loving the short, yet informative format! Thanks!
This channel should have many more subscribers!
Zack, you are a very welcome addition to the Starbase community with your in-depth analysis of SpaceX's engineering intent. This important function is going to become even more critical as the speed of innovation increases, as surely it will. Thank you
Thank you!
Just found your channel recently but I've been watching a bunch of your older videos. It's a great way to keep up with what's going on in starbase since there is nowhere near the amount of obvious progress as there was in 2021. One thing I will note, is that I personally prefer the shorter 10-20 minute videos than the longer ones, simply because I usually don't have time to watch for more than a half hour at a time, and coming back to halfway finished videos is always harder than starting a new one. Great content!
I understand that. But I don't think people have that mentality when they go to the movie theater. I would like for them to treat the deep dives that same way. I don't like to contribute to the shortening of attention spans that YT is currently trying to promote
@@CSIStarbase fair enough. Love the content either way!
Snap investigation! Nice one! Good to see more testing now everywhere.
Also great demonstration of what could happen when the mount fails. Luckily there was no propellant in Starship 😆
Excellent as always!
1st time I watch one of your video and it is great and your explanations are very clear !!! Thk you
Thank you!
Grover got a wide stance.
The most complete research! Great Video!🎉 🤩
Thanks for the update/video even though I'm not an engineer (am married to a EE w/th 30+yrs experience/12yrs in simulation) I got a lot out of your video & explanation. Thanks again 🤓👍
Thanks!
Thanks Zack, Ryan and Starship Gazer 👍
Interesting stuff! Thx Zack
Fantastic report as always, Zack!

Awesome Zack!!
These shorter videos and the deep dives are both excellent. The level of detail and how informed I become due to watching your videos is on par with the USCSB productions.
