I 100% agree with you about the Traxxas UDR being the best desert racer but it might be one of the best RC cars. Especially if you're not in the bashing your car. Just the way it drives it does seem to be more realistic I guess it makes it easier to Envision yourself driving the car most RC cars don't give you that feeling
Whenever my dad comes in the room this is what we watch every time for hours we could watch it all day Thank you Kev for making these Amazing videos keep it up
@@KevinTalbotTV MY MAN!!!! Do you have any videos on the SLASH ULTIMATE 4X4? and KT approved upgrades for it??? If not, maybe drop one sometime!! I just bought one for my son who is 14 and I got it cause he lives 4 hours from me and I figured it's one of the most durable RTR RCs on the market and I won't always be around to help him with repairs.... I need ya KEV!! 💯👌🏼🙂
@@KevinTalbotTV was the little tabs supposed to hold new battery connectors in place? Maybe mounting plate was mounted upside down? Just a guess? Love the vids from IOWA USA!
The UDR looks to be the ultimate drift machine! As far as the one at Redfin, while liquid cooling is cool.. nothing like adding another layer of complexity.
Quick Tip: To get hot glue off of nearly anything, use 91 percent or better Isopropyl Alcohol. I've use this on all kinda of electronics, plastics and metals with hot glue stuck on it. I use it on my Freestyle Kwads (drones), even on the electronics to clean off glue, dirt, and to clean out motors. I just use either a small spray bottle or an eye dropper for small areas of hot glue. Just drip the alcohol on the hot glue, wait about 30 seconds to a minute, then gently start peeling it up. If it is still stuck in some spots, just add a little more alcohol under it and let it sit 30 seconds to a minute and pull it off. For large areas, start on one edge, get a good amount of alcohol on it. wait 30 seconds to a minute and start peeling. Then add more alcohol under the glue where peeled and wait 30 seconds to a minute and continue peeling. Repeat until all off. Be patient, especially on delicate electronics. Just make sure that it is thoroughly dry before powering up any electronics it comes in contact with. The 91% or better dries out fast, but just to be safe, I use canned air to get the most of it off and let it sit in front of a small fan for 15 to 30 minutes to dry out before powering up again.
I think I'd have to go with the Losi Baja Rey The UDR and Mojave are very cool and Kev made his one awesome but Losi is my favorite What ever puts the biggest smile on your face right Kev ✌️
It's amazing just how much different the UDR looks with a new body. Mine currently needs the stock motor reinstalled. I put a 2000 kv 6s capable TP Power motor in mine and it overheated and had a smoke show because of it. I didn't change the pinion or the ESC and somehow it had a catastrophic failure. Either way, my stock motor is still OK and was working fine when I took it out, I just wanted more torque. Last TP Power motor for me as it should have handled the stock ESC and RC just fine, and didn't. Tells me the quality, or lack thereof of the TP Power motors. I may one day put a Hobbywing or castle ESC in it, but the stock ESC has been doing fine.
Tp motors are used worldwide for speed runs, the motors always run warmer than anything else, maybe you had a faulty one, maybe you had a bind somewhere, who knows but they are best bang for buck
Hey Kev, you think the UDR would be a good platform for hitting the 100mph off-road goal? Just a thought. The suspension setup is meant for max speed on uneven terrains right?
im not so sure it would be very stable at that speed but some suspension tuning and some custom aero parts to keep it more stable on the run up and i bet it would do great. but if it landed wron alots going to break at that speed
The UDR is difficult to control at 50 mph with the locked rear axle. Some people put a differential in the back, but it will not be the same again. I think the Mojave or the SBR would be better suited for that goal.
Really I do not know whose fault it is for the poor dragster crash, but I think the blue dragster driver should have been more careful when driving the RC, since Kevin Talbot didn't know it would happen! SO personally, I think Kevin has not made any mistake, well I guess I should say no one's fault then haha!! :D
I love this, I got a Losi 1969 Camaro drag car to race it against my udr and the udr stayed ahead on first run bc my throttle on the drag car was at 75 percent, then at 100 it smoked the udr
and you have almost destroyed the shell of that truck, and your trailing arms are plastic and perfectly fine?? mine broke so easy on my other udr which is the fox edition xd
Totally agree with you on the UDR. There's really something special about the way it drives. Mojave is great but has no soul, I turned mine into a long wheelbase Talion because the UDR took its place as my favorite desert truck.
I’m a big fan of both the Traxxas and the Losi. I just want to let you know that you put out the best RC content on UA-cam! Every video is exiting and everything that happens, from bashing to overviews to upgrading and testing, are better than what’s out there. Keep up the good work! I always look forward to your videos!
As they say, Racing Incident. No penalty to either driver. Painful maybe. That UDR is sweet. I had waffled on wether or not it was for me, but it was dialed on those speed bumps!! Believer now!
Super interested in that water-cooled UDR!! can't wait to see what's going on with it and how he did it. Please do give more info in the next vid, Kev!
I bought a UDR last summer, used for €420, with batteries, charger, light kit and link module. I just couldn’t keep myself from buying it. And I think you’re 200% right, it’s one of the best I’ve ever driven
@@ryano8613 I think I’ll go for the new blue coloured one and yes new in box seems the only way to go sometimes. Then you know what your getting at least!
I love how it has a very realistic suspension setup. That's my favorite part. Axial also had a buggy that has the same realistic style suspension. It's the Yeti XL 1/8th scale truggy. There is also a 1/5th scale baja truck with the same suspension system
Awesome. Great to see the UDR again. I agree, it's the best desert racing truck, just looks so real. The Mojave is cool, but it's like a big Slash really.

I agree but the losi baja rey 1/10 is just as good.
Who’s not into bashing ?
i had the first generation UDR and i only had to replace one trailimg arm and the pinion and spur amd i had it for almost 2 years its still a beast
