Hell yeah! What a collab, really comes to show how far our little community has come. I would absolutely love to see more, Dweeb!!!
Like... His face ? 😎😎
More seriously, yeah we want more of this, feast time this video is 🤝
This group is so supportive. I love this community! ❤
Me too and honestly I find a lot of love and acceptance in the video game community platform Wars notwithstanding
Ditto!
Bro summoned the Avengers of the retro handheld community for this😎
Dweeb, you and the other Retro Round Knights are heroes of this community. You're jumping through hoops to keep the history of those works of art alive while big names (or big N-ame) of the industry are butchering it for stupid greedy reasons. Thank you for all the awesome work you do, I appreciate you so so much.
That was really nice to hear. Thanks man 🍻
This is the Avengers for retrogaming nerds
Prepare yourself, I'm gonna hit you up for a future episode!
@@TechDweeb OH BOY 🙏🙏
Oh wow.... I thought my retro catalogue was HUGE and I literally have discovered a new game from just about anyone, those were without a doubt hidden gems! Thanks Dweeb, amazing video, amazing collab!
Collabs are the best 😏
Awesome video, and honored to be part of the collab! Keep up the amazing work TD!
Russ: I have this game, I don't know if you've ever heard of it, it's called Contra.
Can you play with a dpad?
@@TechDweebonly sometimes
I tried playing it but can’t get the diagonals right
10:45 TechDweeb calling himself "handsome". Get it? Because of the hands? I lol'd.
Let's have a hand for that joke!
These jokes are getting out of hand
Isn't TechDweeb a hand model professionally?
I don't want any mention of a job that includes a hand... please... don't...
This needs to become a series, most of those channels are mostly concerned with the hardware side of things which is cool, but I love getting recommendations for games to try out since I was basically a DOS kid and I don't know many retro games apart from top 10 lists or hidden gem lists. Personal favorites are just a little well more personal.
Brilliant idea, this community is easily the most civil out there, no one hates no one, all support each other, and we all benefit from it! More please Mr. Dweeb ❤
Well said :)
This video was so much fun, incredibly well done as always!
Your arm must be soar from fending off those old ladies at the bowling alley with that sweet hat.
Ah yes I agree with Mr Sujano on Street Fighter on GBC
Definitely gonna check this one out
i found this one accidentally a few years ago and the mechanics are so nice
If you're using some emulation handheld why not just play the arcade version of alpha instead of the crappy game boy color version lol
I freaking LOVE that capture the flag game! Totally forgot about it! Thanks techdweeb
It was so good! Even playing it now is an adult it's great, nice that there is a turn-based strategy game that isn't all bazookas and fireballs.
Bringing all the community together! Love this one, Dweeb! 🧡
7:10 Final Lap Twin! Yes the story RPG mode is really fun. Highly recommended & strangely still underrated.
I cant believe it existed for so long and ive NEVER heard about it!
@@OzymandiasWasRight You will love it! Still remember playing this on Turbo Express. Unfortunately Turbografx system was very underrated system.
Chapeau Tech Dweeb, you’ve nailed a great new series. Bonus points for getting Russ to do a comedy UA-cam reaction face for the thumbnail! 😂
Oh my gosh! A clash of my favourite channels! Thanks Dweeb!
My hidden gem is
'Record of Lodoss War' on Dreamcast. From my understanding, it strays from the lore of the anime in order to better service what it is, a really good Diablo clone. In fact, the best on any consoles of that generation, if you ask me.
I'll give it a try!
Thank you so much👍Sounds exactly like something I'm looking to get into at the moment.
@@greyghostinfinite You're very welcome! May the potions and loot be with you.
Awesome list of recommends from the retrotubing fellows! Thanks for including me in the fun! ❤❤ stubbs
Thanks for joining! I'm excited for the episode with the apple, I've done some fun edits 😘
@@TechDweeb My pleasure sir, and haha I know my body is ready for the apple episode, but is my heart?
Absolutely loved it. This format is so good and having everybody we love in an episode giving their different perspectives is a super cool idea. Great Job General Dweeb.
Thanks buddy! Looking forward to future episodes with OTHER special guests ;)
15:29 What's with the Dragon Quest 8 cover? :D
Yes, was confused as well :)
Doh!
Brilliant as usual TD. Im glad you took the lead as Sylvester Stallone in the Retro game world version of the Retro inspired "The Expendables". Cameo cast heaven.
14:08 Steel Empire is one of my favourites it was great to hear this get mentioned.
Speaking of hidden gems... Tales of Eternia is super underrated. Everyone knows the series because of Symphonia on the gamecube, but Eternia has such a nice little cast and the combat is genuinely fun.
"Don't lick your handhelds." Stubbs: *Feels attacked.
He's blocked me on socials because of that
😂😂
@@TechDweeb😘
Sega Genesis: Beyond Oasis. This is my hidden gem. It's basically a Zelda Beat-em-up Action RPG for the Genesis / Megadrive.
Oh my god, Capture the Flag! I absolutely loved that game. I remember trying to get my mom to play it with me because I was an only child living on a farm. In my adulthood I think I'd completely forgotten about it.
Same! I talked my mom into playing because I had no one else to play with! And she did. What a sweetie.
My personal hidden gem is Metal Storm for the Famicom/NES. It’s a robot platformer game. I love it because it has a really interesting gravity inversion mechanic. The graphics are top-tier, and the controls are incredibly smooth. All that creates a very immersive experience.
Love the concept of this rapid fire format, and the topic too! Can't wait to see more episodes
Fun fact about apocalypse on the ps1, Bruce was going to be a secondary character in the game so all of his dialogue was written and recorded as though he was reacting to what the main player was doing, but testing of the game found people wanted to play as Willis.
Woah! I didn't know this. Blew my mind, I need to learn the rest of the lore now. ❤❤ - Stubbs
Seeing all of you in one video puts a smile on my face. BTW, we need odin mini 2 content!
I've got an awesome one. "Snake Rattle'n Roll" one of Rares early NES titles and it is a killer game. Tough as nails and satisfying as hec. Quarky and fun.
Wild Arms WAS a hidden gem until it was rediscovered. That's why they call it "hidden".
WIld Arms was not a super nintendo game, he meant Wild Guns lmao
@@SvensPron The second amendment would be a lot clearer if it did say the right to bear guns.
This was amazing! I love what you did here bringing everyone together like a little family of friends. This is the heart of retro gaming right here.
Holy cow, Capture the Flag! I used to buy all sorts of magazines that had shareware on them and I remember playing that game! Must've been 8 or 9 years old back then, what a game!
Dude I’m all in for this series hell yes!!! Russ and you have been my favorite channels as of late :) cheers to success and more collaborations down the road
My hidden gem: the 1982 arcade game, "The Pit". It's a single screen precursor to the likes of Boulderdash. Dig down into an alien pit, evade robot bad guys, grab a diamond, and escape through a monster-filled pit before the enemy tank destroys your spaceship! So much character squeezed into such simple graphics!
That actually looks like a lot of fun. I love arcade games from the early 80s.
Holy cow! It's like Super Retrogaming All-Stars! Fantastic, guys!
NES - Chip n' Dale - Lots of fun playing in coop
Yes!!!
Absolutely love this! Keep those awesome collabs with fellow retro enthusiasts coming. Great job, TechDweeb!
Capture the Flag is such a great choice! I haven't played a serious game of it since the 90s, but I always make sure my Carr Software folder is one of the first things I copy over when I get a new hard drive/PC
Thanks so much, Stubbs. I've been looking for apocalypse for sooooooooo long. I played it as a kid but couldn't ever find it because I barely remembered anything about it at all.
Should have just asked Stubbs! 😛
SUCH a great game, time to play it again my friend 🧡
My favorite hidden gems are Rastan (Arcade & Console [sms] ) and Black Tiger (Arcade). Thank God for emulation!
Great idea for a video and nice to see everyone taking part :)
I feel like a lucky dweeb that so many cool people said yes
Every hidden gem video that doesnt list Shantae (great game, not hidden anymore) heals my soul
The Retro Roundtable is the collab I always wanted. The channels that got me into retro emulation and handhelds.
I think a lot of people already are aware of Solomon's Key, but not enough! So i think it still counts as a hidden gem. And yeah, Darkwing Duck i only found out in older hidden gems videos, and is now one of my guilty pleasures.
Oh 100% Solomon's Key! I found that while hidden gem hunting. It's awesome!
My favorite hidden gem was Take-Two Interactive's 1996 FMV DOS game RIPPER. It has Christopher Walken, Paul Giamati, Blue Oyster Cult, Cyberpunk, puzzles, B movie acting, and the type of PG-13 story that made me feel super cool to be playing it as a teen.
Will definitely check out some of these hidden gems. Thanks for reminding me that Qix exists too!
a few minutes after shadow of the ninja being recommended in this video I found out that it's being remastered. That's pretty cool for those that want the game with newer looking graphics.
Wow, that is an impressive cast, congratulations on pulling it off! Great video!
Ok, TechDweeb. I think after an episode like this, we need a face reveal sometime soon so you can join these other fine gentlemen at the table!
his face was there tho, along with his ten jointed opposable strands of hair
I'd love to get a peek at TD myself, but it would be like when KISS decided to take the makeup off just one time.
They went from Gods, to men.
TD, if you read this- Don't change a thing. You ARE the Man. Bravo 👏 👏 👏
My face is magical. Literally. If you see it you'll turn to stone.
@@TechDweeb Yeah, I had that issue a while back too. 🙃
I remember Capture the Flag! I played it all the time on one of those "500 Great Games" Dos shareware compilations that our dad would sometimes bring back from work trips. Thank you for the memory unlock!
This was a really fun video! I love it! My hidden gem is Cosmo Tank for the OG Gameboy. Many good memories there.
Yeah I found that game while hidden gem hunting. Neat game!
This is incredible!!! 👏👏👏 So stoked to see the next entries! Thank you for bringing all of these boys together for us!
Some girls coming too!
@@TechDweeb O heck yeah!! 🙌🙌🙌
This is frickin amazing. I hope there's so many of these!
Yo! I gotta “hand it” to ya! You got a great series going here, please keep it up!
Oh wow, I totally forgot about capture the flag! I remember playing the crap out of the shareware version.
My hidden gem is Circuit Breakers for the PS1. It's not amazing single player, but get three or four friends together, and it's the best racing game out there.
Epic! Great video. Looking forward to more of these!
One hidden gem is on DOS ... "Archimedean Dynasty" (original German name "Schleichfahrt") ... it's an Wing Commander style post apocalyptic sub marine fighting jets game with an amazing atmosphere and story (with video story telling). It's an action shooter with strategic elements. It runs very well on Dosbox and also on RetroArch fully stretched on my RGB30. (cheap available on GOG)
Man, if creative was a person... it's definitely the Dweeb. Love this style of video. Well freaken done!
Thanks for saying so!
Enjoyed the video. Final Lap Twin is definitely something I'm gonna enjoy as a fan of Lamborgini American Challenge for the SNES, but with betting instead of a set amount to be paid for loosing. I'd say katamari damacy is probably the least hidden gem on the list here. It kinda blew up because of the absurdity in early online stuff at the time. You could roll a ball up and pick up people. It was shocking to people. Very fun game though. Highly suggest.
Magmax for the NES and Revenge of the Gator Pinball for Gameboy are two of my favorite retro hidden gems.
Apocalypse was a fun game with Bruce Willis, another like it also on PS1 is the game ONE. The vibration on some guns was pretty nuts, btw anyone playing on Odin 2 when the game starts up in Duckstation it starts as a digital controller like some PS games did so just toggle the analog/digital mode in settings to get the proper twin shooting instead of the face buttons, also you need to enable vibration in Duckstation in the touchscreen settings on Odin.
@ThePhawx ! I love your hidden gems pick (I won't spoil it here), it's one I often try to get people to play. I bought it thinking it was one basic thing, and started playing and discovered just how magical it was. Great choice, dude! Nice choices all 'around. Good job getting the roundup, Dweeb!
Brilliant!
We need more videos covering cool games to play on our handhelds. Greatly appreciated!
I love this a lot, thanks to all the awesome people who will contribute to this series
I loved the snk vs capcom on the neogeo pocket. Was such a fun little game. But it had a sister game called snk vs capcom: card fighters clash also on the pocket, which was a way bigger game and so much fun to play!
Love Apocalypse also Skull Monkeys,Einhander and Ergeiz. All also on the PS1
Oh man, I remember the share ware Capture the Flag.
For a hidden gem, would Alundra for PS1 count? Sprite based action RPG, but a much darker tone than anything Zelda has to offer.
Final Lap Twin was techincally the first JRPG I ever played back when it was released back in 1989, and was what got me into the genre as a whole. I recommend that game to people all the time and rarely does anyone take me up on checking it out. I hope this video gets more people to play it. It's an awesome Dragon Warrior/Early Final Fantasy wannabe and does it's own things, including hidden loot, areas, dungeons etc. Absolutely a treasure of an early JRPG.
AMAZING CROSSOVER! You guys are great!
This is an excellent collab! Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Whoa! I had that capture the flag game on our pc when I was younger. I played it a lot!
Later when we had a newer PC, I played mainly rage: incoming and total annihilation ^^
My retro suggestion is also Dos, I think. The game was called scorched earth, I think...this was a while back. Regardless, you controlled a tank and tried to blow up other tanks. You got ammo upgrades, picked coordinates, fired away, and it was an absolute blast back in the day.
Yes! I played a ton of that game! It's like an early version of worms
As I am finishing the video, Capture the Flag is an amazing game! I remember playing it as a kid! I emulated it a few years back, but now want to see if I can get it working on an Odin 2 🤔
Warbirds on the Atari Lynx with multiplayer linked up. That's a blast with friends!
Man I really wish I had kept my atari lynx. The two times I had it, once as a small child, the other repurchased as a 20 something adult! Should have just held onto it all
Brilliant idea, and so great to see everyone embrace that they are more alike than anything, and not competitors. Right now, this is the best scene.
This was inefficient way of getting everybody's best game out there. There's a reason I subscribe to you. It's not just your naisley stone we learn stuff here.
I'm diggin' the Arthurian themed collab! I've got a recommendation, and while it's not a hidden gem, I do feel it's overlooked and sidelined a lot. Vagrant Story for the PS1. Throwin in Final Fantasy Tactics as well for good measure. B)
Dragon Quest Monsters lookin neat! 👀
No way, Final Lap Twin for the Turbo Grafx 16. Great choice the Phawx !
Love this collab. Can't wait to see more.
I love this idea! And kudos to the awesome creator community coming together to do this!
Great idea and great video, thanks for putting this together. My hidden gem is "It's Mr. Pants" for the GBA which is an amazing puzzle game made by Rare and published by THQ. I feel like i never hear anybody mention it, but it's one of my favorite Tetris-ish puzzle games on any system. It's almost like a reverse Tetris.. you place blocks to clear the board. Good stuff.
No way I LOVED that Capture The Flag game as a kid! Shareware version. Probably off a magazine cover disk ❤
Really loved the cast AND the recommandations. More please!
You're a real artist man, love you.
Amazing stuff, my good Dweeb. Always look forward to a new video and even more so when a multitude of my other favorite Retro UA-camrs are included!
Small nitpick with the editing -- when Zu is talking about DQVII, there's an insert of an image of DQVIII. Not sure if that was on your end or his end, but for the sake of being an absolute alpha nerd, I felt the need to bring it to your attention. 😅
Yeah I know. My own brain fart there. :S
Great video Mr Dweeb, also great to be introduced to new content providers like your self, keep up the hard work and drink more root beer 😊
I really like this collab idea, great way to grow the community! I haven't really seen most of these creators which is cool
Not as hidden as it use to be but Soul Blazer on the SNES. Still one of my favorite games to this day.
Definitely counts as a hidden gem
Awesome 👍 a little recommendation from me , 'spindizzy' for the sinclair spectrum . Marble on a 3d landscape at its best 👌
So excited for all the episodes, thx a lot !
Great video! Love the camaraderie. One of my retro hidden gems has to be Kwirk on GB. I never owned a GB growing up (I'm and 80's kid) but I had friends and family that had one. I never really played Kwirk until I met my father-in-law (in 2002). He had an OG gameboy and a couple games but he was always playing Kwirk. He showed it to me one day and I got HOOKED. My father-in -law passed away a few years ago and as a gift to my wife, I got her a red GB Pocket with a copy of Kwirk. We play it once in a while and have fun solving the puzzles but most of all we remember my father-in-law while playing it.
This was so great, looking forward to more chapters. My hidden gems are all the Intellivision games I grew up with. Night Stalker, B-17 Bomber, Star Strike and both D&D games (including a 3D one!) stand out.
Nice one 👍🏽 hope to see more Dweebs in the next chapters.
Slap Happy Rythem Buster Ps1 is my hidden gems, a fighting game combine with hip hop music, really enjoy it when i was kid
What a nice bunch of retro round table knights.
