endwalker changed stuff so things like the monk, summoner, and astro are different than what was described here. Also it leaves out sage (my main) and reaper which released with endwalker.
This video is a little out of date, as there were a bunch of changes for Endwalker (including adding Reaper and Sage). Tanking is still pretty easy with tank stance generating absurd amounts of emnity. All tanks get some extra survivability in EW. For people starting their first tank, I generally suggest starting with Marauder/Warrior as it will have the easiest learning curve as well as crazy self healing. There's nothing wrong with the other tanks though. I just suggest being careful about starting with a tank at level 60 so you don't end up getting over your head in your first party content. All melee positionals were toned down in endwalker, so it's less of an issue with True North covering the cases where you can't move where you want. Reaper seems to be a really solid addition with a low learning curve and reasonable output for its ease of use. I don't really have much more to add for the melee, other than they have different gear sets between them unlike every other role, so they can be a little more annoying to level up and gear multiple at once. For physical ranged, I started with Bard and still hold a certain love for it, but Machinist really is just more fun for me currently. Dancer isn't too bad but it can be a little too RNG and partner dependent for results. On the casters front, Summoner got a complete overhaul and is probably the one with the easiest learning curve. The first 50 or so levels can be a little awkward, but the job really comes into its own when you get Trance and it becomes nearly as mobile as the physical ranged. This is just my opinion but black mage is mostly for tryhards, while Red Mage is an okay dps with great utility. For healers I think Conjurer/White Mage is a good starting choice, better to start at level 1 and build the fundamentals, similar to tanking. Don't be too scared by it, just don't give up due to mistakes while learning the role. I love healing overall, with the shield healers (Scholar and Sage) being my favorite, though they are better suited for players who know fights well enough to prepare shields before damage is done. Astrologian is also fun for people who like the idea of being a support and helping others do better damage, or for people who just want to hit more buttons per second.
Yeah o was told it was out of date 🤦♀️ I will be reacting to an upto date one soon. I started as bard and picked up White mage aswell. Think I will do warrior as it seems the simplest for a beginner. I'm excited. Thank you for the advice, it all helps so much!
As a Scholar main I'm absolutely not biased in any way shape or form, honest, but I believe that SCH is currently the 'easy' healer. Your fairy does most of the heavy lifting, especially later on when your ground aoe shield adds a fairly good regen in addition to damage reduction on a very short cooldown for what it does. On top of that your aoe is instant cast making positioning much easier, works as well as your single target dps spell all the way down to 2 targets and because it shares its base class with Summoner you get to keep Ruin II which let's you move and dps. Oh and as SMN or SCH level up so does the one you aren't currently playing meaning you get a free max level dps or healer to play with. Tanking in FFXIV is quite comfy too tbh. All you need to do is press tank stance, tag a pull with a couple of aoes and you're tanking. Once you get more confident the tanks are designed to be able to survive wall-to-wall pulls but take it at your own pace and don't let people make you do pulls you aren't comfortable with. Against bosses it's exactly the same and thanks to a universal "raid language" you'll quickly pick up on what a tank buster looks like, what a party aoe looks like etc and which mitigation to use against them. I call tanking dps without positionals because although its daunting at the start it quickly becomes just like any other melee job.
@@steweygrrr Not really, everyone knows sch along with ast are the busier healers during rotation. Def not recommended for a sprout healer, Go whm and understand the basics.
@@selenang2006 SCH is just in very low dungeons rly ez because your pet does all the healing for you, but on higher level it gets way more stressfull.. yeah WHM is nice for beginner because you start at lvl 1 while SCH starts at lvl 30 because you need to start as Arcanist (DPS) another healer how is imo rly ez is SAGE sure you start with lvl 70 but Sage is for me after WHM the second easiest healer.. and _imo_ the best dungeon healer in the whole game
I agree with the marauder/warrior recommendation. It has lots of self healing and is good to learn the basics because it’s not too busy. As a sprout myself Warrior is my main, followed by White Mage and Summoner. I find it helpful to learn at least one tank, one healer and one dps.
A quick word of warning. Since Gunbreaker starts off at a higher level it at least used to have kinda a bad reputation since a lot of players did their very first tank run at level 60. It's a perfectly fine tank but you might want get comfortable tanking first at a lower level instead of jumping in at that high of level. (Before anyone asks I was one of the people who's first time tanking was at level 60, and I don't recommend that. xD)
@@LaccreVT Everyone messes up so don't worry to much about that part. 😀 Just get comfortable with keeping agro while doing your rotation and dodging the ground fire.
As someone who is both a WoW and FFXIV vet (and someone who just now found this video), it helps more to compare jobs in FFXIV not to full classes in WoW, but rather to individual specs from each class since that's about as complex as they get. Also, if you want to tank, definitely start with Marauder (which becomes Warrior) since it's simple and straightforward all the way to max level and probably even into the next expansion. If you want to try a healer, White Mage I think is still the easiest of them to pick up these days.
I recommend starting at level 1 with Archer (which becomes Bard at level 30). This will give you a chance to see how the various boss fights work without having to stand in one spot, which lets you move out of the AoE markers more easily. Once you get to a high enough level to unlock it, I suggest Dancer because it's fun and pretty straightforward, not to mention the *shiny*.
@@LaccreVT Awesome! My main is RDM but I play DNC a lot, especially in lower level content because the rotation doesn't really change much from 50 to 90.
the community is very nice to new tanks and healers cause we really need more healers and tanks, we got too many DPS people are very understanding of new players even if you're a DPS I personally play reaper and summoner atm, but my favorite healer is white mage and favorite tank is between dark knight and warrior
honestly the community have been AMAZING so far. so im loving that. I currently have BRD and WHM on the go...but havent quite figure out how to level them at the same time lol
Use the main story quests to level your main job and use the daily roulette to level your alt job. The main story gives you far more XP than you need to level up your main. You will never need to grind levels to advance the story anymore. @@LaccreVT
@@LaccreVT Just remember if you aren't abusing streamer privilege in dungeons and trials just give a short "I'm new to this ____." or "First time." and people will generally be more than happy to help you.
Lemme introduce you to the start-of-game classes: Archer: Super simple (TOO simple for some people, early on) but gets an unlimited sprint like 10 levels before anyone gets a mount so it's nice for zooming around. Put a DoT on with poisoned arrows and then use regular shots until they proc better shots. Thaumaturge: Pretty explosions. Lots of standing still, but if you can get away with that you have some of the highest damage. Arcanist: You get a cute little carbuncle. You go back and forth between "give myself a buff to my basic attack and spam that" phase and "use my better attacks" phase. Gladiator and Marauder: Turn on tank stance, use your 1-2 combo (eventually 1-2-3), use your damage buff button whenever you can. When you're in a dungeon early advice is to have one kind of mitigation up all the time. So use the general defense button, then the "make enemies weaker" button when that's running out, and so on. Conjurer: Attacks are just placing a DoT and then spamming your attack spell until it's time to refresh the DoT. You can probably get away with waiting to heal until the tank's at 50% or lower, early on. Pugilist: Fastest attacker. Probably the most complicated early on. If you want to keep pushing buttons and keep your brain busy, this is for you. Lancer: Give yourself attack buffs and do two combos - one to buff yourself and lay down a DoT and another to do big hits. Also you can Jump attack, but since it auto-returns you to where you were it's functionally just a ranged attack you can do between other attacks for bonus damage now and then. Rogue: Becomes available to swap to when you get another job to 10. Debuffs enemies so they take extra from everyone, and has a 1-2-3 combo that does extra on the 3rd hit if you attack from behind. Everything else gets unlocked later. That's what the guides don't mention, when everyone who watches them is making decisions about what to play. These starter classes all upgrade into a job with more power at level 30, with Arcanist getting two (Scholar for shield-healer and Summoner continuing as magic DPS). The other combat job unlocks are: Get a combat job to 50: Red Mage and Samurai Beat ARR baseline: Blue Mage (weird mini-game job that plays different from everything else) Start Heavensward: Machinist and Dark Knight Get a combat job to 60: Gunbreaker and Dancer Get a combat job to 70: Reaper and Sage
@@LaccreVT My main, personally Sadly they ditched the aspect of directly controlling your summons, and made them pretty much just show up for a single attack and then unlock a handful of elemental spells on their way out then when you use up the elemental spells, you summon the next one in the rotation for ITS big attack and a refresh to your elemental spell pool
I started as Bard and like it a lot still. I think it is on the easier side for beginners. You can still walk so get easier out of aoe without losing damage. Has a fairly easy rotation that naturally gets added to without throwing off all your built up muscle memory every time and aside from doing damge you have 2 responsibilities, keeping your dots up and using your buffs. Both of those you'll do naturally as those are big parts of your damage rotation anyway.
So a thing on this video, it's from Shadowbringer so some things have changed. Monk now has a lot few positionals now. Even if you don't main it later, I do recommend going though the Dark Knight story line. It's the best Job story bar none. As for tanks, I love Gunbreaker cause explosions make the serotonin flow. And it's rotation keeps me busy. Black Mage best job. You cannot change my mind.
@@LaccreVT Warrior is definetly the best job for new players, it has a ton of self healing, simple and easy to understand rotation and you get a lot of dopamine rushes when you get new abilities like fell cleave and decimate, im WAR main and i highly recommend it
@@Sebs-FFXIV caveat: Warrior has a lot of self healing at later levels. When you hit 56 is when you start getting your main self heal (raw intuition) which reduces all damage by 10% for 6 seconds and all weapon skills used restore HP with a 25 second cool down. Prior to that you don't really have a self heal. At max level, however, you don't really need a healer at all and can even sub as a healer in some cases while still tanking.
I love machinist. Since you said you were interested in trying it, you won't regret it. You get a gun, a mech, and a button that just let's you button mash like crazy for 8 seconds. Good fun. Especially since it's one of the few jobs that's core rotation doesn't really change as you level up. 90% of all the skills after 50 are just upgrades or quality of life skills. While you won't understand until you get into HW and beyond, this means that when you get down synced back to ARR levels when you do roulettes and old extremes and such, the job still feels pretty complete. Unlike say paladin who doesn't get to use it's entire magic side of it's kit, or black mage whose rotation changes entirely every 10 levels, or reaper, which has is just missing huge chunks of its rotation at anything under level 80. Machinist is still fun since all your fundamental skills that make machinist a machinist are still there.
Tanking is chill, can be a bit difficult on raids later, but it's overall nice. I started playing as Paladin and went all the way to Endwalker playing it as my main job.
I always recommend this to beginners or vets that main one class. Try to get a class for every role, so if you have a team or they need a certain role before going in, you can easily jump in and be that person that seems like an expert at everything. A meele / tank / range / magic / and of course healer. Start slow when trying another class, we of FF14 are usually quite forgiving to people if they mess up. There is also so much side content as well if you only rushed to endgame so you could raid with friends, Hildabrand / Gold Saucer / Glam hunting / the works! And on a last note, yes this video is a tad out of date but there are plenty of good ones to watch / funny ones if you like Jocat describing roles of FF14. - From a Bunnyboi.
Red mage gained a few extras with endwalker, things like their big spells at the end of the melee combo are now AOE, theres 2 of them that then combo into Revolution which is a line AOE where you spin your sword and rose petals and thorns project to the target. Part of the fun for me is experimenting with the other jobs, I enjoy Magical DPS but honestly, my favorite to recommend to someone is Summoner. Mostly because it co-levels up Scholar, because they both have the same base class. So in a pinch you could try out healer now and then as you progress you DEEPS! Blue mage is not often shown off in these because they are locked out of a lot of content and was partial a meme/event job and it has some interesting ways of how they play! But in all honesty, the real reason I want to level all the jobs in this game is for fashion, getting the perfect cosplay or glam is just fun!
As someone who Mained gunbreaker on launch ad my first tank it's easy to pick up and learn while also having the ability to master it to a point where it's nutty how much miti you have
Same it's also a ton of fun to play one of my fav meme builds is to only put skill speed materia so that all my gcds are even faster so I can do the combo cartridge skills even more
There is one other job, but since it is a Limited job it can’t be used in MSQ, it’s my favorite job called Blue mage, basically it learns magic spells from enemies, Even Primals like Ifrit. Each expansion it’s level is 10 less than the current expansion cap, so for endwalker it’s level 80 instead of 90. It’s fun though and has its own unique story and even cooler it’s own arena called the Masked Carnival, which allows the player to not only face special challenges, BUT also special bosses from Final Fantasy history including characters from final fantasy five and six. It unlocks after completion of base ARR and it’s quite fun ^-^ if you want to check it out, the job starts with a Yellowjacket in the Linda Lominsa plaza
i will check it out for sure!!! i have just watched a more in depth guide to jobs (up tomorrow) and i was obsessed with blue mage lol. i will be playing it at some point for sure
For a first tank as a newbie, I strongly recommend you start with Marauder/Warrior, it is by far the easiest to learn and the most player friendly and has the best recovery from messing up, and if you master the Job, you are literally Doomguy, an unkillable monster slaying machine. I personally main Dark Knight as a tank because..well, they use a BFS, and what is there not to like about BFS'? As for Melee DPS, Lancer is a solid pick because it has really good survivability and the highest defense out of all DPS characters which gives you good leeway, you just..need to learn how to time your jumps. It is also what I main from the DPS jobs and Aesthethically this job just oozes style and at a high level it's so fun, as you are always on the move doing fancy acrobatic moves. Ranged, well, Archer/Bard is the only real starting option here, but it's a very busy job so I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, however you can unlock Dancer once you get any other job to lvl 60, Dancer has a high support kit and is also very fun to play due to how agile it is. I personally main Machinist as a ranged DPS, because they are just so god damn COOL. For mages, your starting choice is between Arcanist and Thaumaturge. Now, Thaumaturge/Black mage is hella strong, but it is an absolute chore to level it, so I'd recommend you go for Arcanist instead, because it later splits into 2 Jobs, Summoner and Scholar, a DPS caster and Healer respectively, so levelling one, levels the other. Now, summoner is probably the easiest Caster to play now (it used to be the most difficult job of them all before the rework), but Scholar on the other hand is probably the most difficult Healer. It's more of an enabler for everyone else in your team as opposed to a straightout healer(which makes sense if you consider the lore), which can make it very busy but very rewarding and requires some understanding of fight mechanics. It's what I main as a Healer and I find it to be the most fun out of all the healers. Amongst caster DPS, I main Redmage, because I personally depise playing Magic caster classes in games, but Redmage has a good balance of caster and fighter and it's much busier and more agile than a run of the mill caster like Black Mage. Speaking of healers, if you are not interested in the aformentioned Arcanist double path, Conjurer/White Mage is the most traditional and basic healer you can think of in an MMO setting and it's easy to play. Astrogian however easily has the most beautiful skill effects in the game, it also used to be the most busy and difficult Healer before its rework, and it is getting ANOTHER rework in Dawntrail. In the end all Jobs however are viable, and with EW most of them have been homogenized so in the endgame there is little to no difference between them except for small % in dps output so you can play whatever Job that you like the look of the most.
For tank: I recommend MRD/WAR (Marauder/Warrior; Axe go BRRRRR). They have a few buffs that allow them to heal while they do damage. So as long as you time it right you won't need the healer to bother too much; at least for awhile. For DPS: Monks are my personal favorite (though they removed most of the positionals I still do them out of habit) for being my go to for "no worries, just punch" moods.
I guess UA-cam knows that I follow you on Twitch, since it recommended me your video) On my main nowadays I play as Astrologian, but can change who I play as I play with other people switching to other jobs.
when it comes to tanking, all you need to know to start is, turn on your tank stance, spin to win ( just use your AoE to do damage until you are comfortable), and press 1 mitigation skill at a time. once you master that, THEN you can worry about the other things :) . Also, the community is pretty good toward new people. Just let people know when you enter a dungeon, you will get help, and if the heals is experienced, they will know to adjust for you since you are learning. but above all else, Have fun, nothing (except the main scenario quests) is mandatory, and fun is the ultimate goal :) Good Luck in your journey.
So many jobs that are balanced and fun to play vs in wow where they straight up tell players to stop playing a job because they don't like it themselves xD they added reaper and sage in endwalker and viper for dawntrail (we don't know the second job for dawntrail yet but it will be a magic ranged)
LOL i actually went on a rant about this in stream ytesterday. I wanted to play so many different classes in wow, but because i wasnt 'Good enough' i stopped playing them. The toxicity just wasnt worth it
Tanking is generally great for new players because they get access to "Tank Privilege" in which the tank gets to fuck up and not get punished for it, at least until you reach 90. You also get the benefit of faster queue times. Though there is only really a noticeable difference between tanks at the highest end, however you never actually need to be a good tank to clear content. Personally I think Pugilist is the best starting class, if you don't want to tank. A Pugilist will gain access to their 1,2,3 combo at level 6, and their first AoE at level 26. Healing or Healer classes/jobs can sometimes be a trap. The general gameplay that you will experience as a new player playing the healer role can gravely make a new player complacent, furthermore the general leveling experience will not teach a new healer how to perform in that role properly. Casters can range from easy to the hardest job in the game, in the order of Summoner, Red Mage, BLACK MAGE. To play a Black Mage is to suffer, in more ways than one. Physical Ranged jobs, are mostly easy, but Dancer can suffer from having a bad dance partner, which you won't notice unless you're doing end-game raiding usually.
While pugilist is good for new players, i actually prefer arcanist/summoner for new players, playing DPS is more stress free and lets you learn basic mechs, summoner has by far the most simple and to a degree the most boring rotation but its good for new people and leveling arcanist/summoner also levels scholar so they can switch to healer without need to level new job
I main Machinist because it is a stripped-down Ranged Job that focuses on damage. I can focus on my man and the fight instead of tracking all these buffs, praying to RNGesus, dealing with positionals, etc. that Bard and Dancer deal with. For Caster, Summoner and Red Mage are both preferred over Black Mage due to their mobility; Summoner is now a much simpler Job, albeit with some questionable changes (Ifrit, looking at you), and retains rez utility below L54 (which is when Red Mage gets Verraise), so I now prefer it over Red Mage in general. For Healer, you're right that White Mage is most simple to handle, but the new Sage Job isn't that hard to pick up (other than having _Endwalker_ access and a Job at L70). Astrologian is how a Regen healer exclusively, as Sage is the new Shield healer Job; this puts Healers at two Regen and two Shield. For Melee, I've found Dragoon to be most in line with how I prefer to play followed by Samurai; Monk gets crazy busy, as does Ninja, but the new Reaper Job (same prereqs as Sage) is fine and shares gear with Dragoon- but the VFX gets to be a bit much. For Tanks, I prefer Warrior. I solo a lot, and when I can't do it as Machinist I go to Warrior and clear. Mad self-heals, tanky, high damage, etc. all combine into a beast of a Job that is nonetheless simple to run and easy to pick up. Dark Knight is okay, Paladin is worth unlocking, and Gunbreaker works once you get it, but Warrior tanks are dominant for the obvious reasons aforementioned. The next expansion, _Dawntrail,_ will add at least one more Job and likely two. We don't know what they are yet, but they will require _Dawntrail_ access to pick up as well as one other Job at L80. (Please have one be a Scouting Job.)
thank you for this! it actually helps alot. Think i may start with warrior as tanking. Im currently a Whitemage for healing but curious about summoner. And i have Bard for ranged dps, but ive been told it gets harder as i level so im not sure atm if thats the right choice
Personally, my first tank recommendation is Dark Knight, it starts I would say simple but not boring and there’s a lot less pressure and responsibility piled on tanks than in WOW. I don’t personally know the others except Gunbreaker, which I do not recommend as your first tank because it’s like a Hero Class like Death Knight/Demon Hunter where it gives you ALL your abilities right away and it’s a LOT to deal with
I used to be a WHM main ever since XI, but due to the changes over time I fell out of love with it in XIV. The job is just too simple, plus it's main advantage of having big heals is mostly useless since almost every class can heal themselves to some extend, meaning utility is generally more important. And well that's where WHM drew the short end of the stick. Nowadays I main either Scholar or Dragoon depending on what is needed. Just a general tip since not all the jobs are available from the start in the meantime you might want to look into one that is. Basically every job that came out with an expansion has a level requirement starting at 50,60,70 and 80, the older the expansion the lower the requirement. For quick progression you might wanna pick up a tank or a healer since their queues usually pop instantly unlike DPS which may take a couple of minutes to pop since there's far more of those around usually.
Paladin main from the beginning big piece of advice for tanking and healing tell tour team your learning them in party chat and that will take a magority of the stress away as your team will slow down and assist where possible most of the time
Gunbreaker is (imo) the most fun tank to play, but you unfortunately can't start with it. As far as the tanks go, at the start of the game you can pick either Marauder (becomes Warrior) or Gladiator (becomes Paladin). Playing as Dark Knight requires you to finish all of A Realm Reborn and make it into Heavensward content, since the NPC to unlock it is in the first HW city, and then you have to level it from 30-50 before you can take part in any of the content for the level you're at. And Gunbreaker can be unlocked at any time so long as you have a job at level 60 and have the Shadowbringers expac. It unlocks in Gridania, and won't require you to level at all to use it in your current stage of content provided you unlock it straight as soon as you get to level 60.
Definitely try tank. Press mitigation when swarmed by admirers or big red cicle of incoming /dote from the boss appears, and you'll be fine for the first 50 lvl.
I prefer to play Dancer, but I started as a Monk. Both are fast paced classes, and are pretty fun to play. The RNG of Dancer always makes each fight interesting. Monk has the fastest attacks in the game, so it is good if you want to have faster dps. For Tanks, I recommend Dark Knight, as it looks cool and has the Best Job storyline in the game. Warrior is probably the best Intro-to-Tanking Class you can play up until you can unlock Dark Knight though. I recommend not starting with a Magical DPS class for your first job, as they are slow and can seem very repetitive until you reach higher levels.
Dancer looks so pretty but also confused me too lol. I'm starting with bard atm and picked up White mage. Think I may go for warrior to start with. Thanks for the advice 😊
Red Mage is my main which I love because it has StAbBiNg TiMe. But you can't pick it up until later (I think 50). For tanking off the start Warrior is fun, and the quest gets hilarious as it goes on. For ranged starting out I think bard is your only option until later, machinist is the first to unlock I think in Heavensward content. If you want to caster/healer combo do Summoner/Sage since leveling 1 levels both and you just have to do the class quests of both. Also schollar healing is very easy initially as the fairy handles most of the needed healing leaving you free to press your 1 DPS button and 1 DOT. Then you can swap you caster to Red Mage later.
Tanking is probably the easiest role, I might get flack for this but its true. All you do now to tank is turn on your stance, aoe spam groups of mobs, and make sure the boss is facing away from the party and you're set. Really that simple. Edit: Oh, and use your defensive cooldowns obviously
Thankfully, that kind of atititude is frowned upon in most of the community, only time people will kick you in a dungeon is if you go offline and dont come back, are afk for most of the run, or are just over all being a jerk. Tolerance for that kind of behavior is really low here.@@LaccreVT
@@Rivvy250 also 2nd this, we will only kick you for being the guy making new folk feel bad, they are the life blood of our game right now. il take 10 wipes in a dungo VS a party chat "fight"
@@LaccreVT My sister used to think the same way because of wow, but after trying to tank in FFXIV she really enjoyed it. People in FFXIV are very tolerant to new players/new tanks, of course there are some bad apples, but I've never seen my sister get flamed/kicked when playing with her even when she made mistakes. I also agree with what Rivvy said. Tanking is probably the easiest role in the game until you get to the extremely hard fights later in the game when your tanking position, dps, cooldown usage ect. becomes more important.
@@LaccreVT Ditto to just about everything said here, but there's one more benefit to being the tank. Tanks come with "tank privaledge" for learning new fights. Because you are so "tanky" you can make more mistakes and stay alive longer then the rest of your party. Your healer may grumble, but it's better then being a DPS, making one error, and end up tanking the floor because it was the one mistake they just couldn't make. Also be aware this video is out of date, Paladin got a whole rework in a recent patch, and the Dark knight invuln skill is actually good now! :D
For healer I actually find that Scholar is easier for me than White Mage. The fairy carries easily early game, and late game, the shields will assist in stopping damage while you actually heal. It also reduces the work you need to do if you can throw shields on everyone for a large AOE, and use your fairy AOE HOT. That way you reduce the damage everyone takes and still manage to heal them while you can focus on the tank without too many issues. But every person has preference to jobs. I've had someone tell me they don't understand scholar and prefer white mage, it's all good.
originally ~ the reason why I play this game, cause one of my friend says that you can get the outfit shown in the trailer for "Free" after lvl 80 not know how long it would take, cause I thought this was like typical MMO , where you can power thru the quest and just get lvl yeah, playing Dark Knight is really fun and amazing, it's a tank but play like dps , but after lvl 70 , once you get your signature skill, TBN , getsuga tenshou-like skill , I never play a tank like this in any other mmo but the Dark Knight story quest is really mindblowing for me + Heavensward Main story the only regret I have that I skipped to much on A Realms Reborn and only focused after I got to Heavensward cause I wanted to play dark knight so badly~ I rush to the content ~ T_ T
lmfao i mean thats one way to play and MMO. yeah i get that, i have been in ff before but rushed through everything to play with friends and left shortly after. That was 3 years ago. So here i am an oldie noob... actually slowing down and exploring everything, ... so far i love it and it had quickly become my main game
My main is Red Mage until we get the new Dawntrail jobs in Summer 2024! White Mage is the easiest for me because I am so scared of healing! I also am nervous to Tank but I am currently leveling Warrior & it is ok so far!
I played Black Mage since the beginning. A lot changed in 10 years but I managed to clear every raids, trials, and ultimate with it during their relevancy. So don't let anyone tell you Black Mage aren't viable in certain things. To be a good Black Mage, you need to main the ABC (Always be casting) even when you are moving. You'll have several utilities to allows you to instant cast spells. You'll have to decide when to use it. And further more, you'll be forced to pay attention to each boss attacks and learn their pattern. While reading the floor texture like a braille. All these may be overwhelming but it's repetitive. During the fight, you'll start to see the pattern of all things including your spell rotations to a tee. I was glad I became a Black Mage first because switching to other caster role made things a lot easier. And also, it helps you have an edge because of the skills you picked up in Black Mage.
I hadn't even considered black mage tbh but I am now. I was looking at redmage too. Currently on bard and white mage. I plan to play everything so I can truly decide what I wish to main 😊
I have a preference for each role actually. For healer it's a no brainier, white mage. Because I am walking immortality with that moveset and the blood lilies must be quenched. For tank I love paladin because you get a few abilities that make it feel satisfying. Like when I use my get behind me, I'm a WALL ability that makes anyone directly behind me take less damage. Or the ability to just sponge a portion of the damage your homie gets hit by so they don't get bullied by a big attack. For dps I can not rain enough praise on dragoon. The class quests actually have a legitimately interesting story compared to most. The class quests armor sets you get through normal progression are NAME BRAND my friend. Clean fits are the true end game to mmo's after all. Plus it has an easy flexible dare I say dopamine spiking level of mobility compared to most classes. The "dive" abilities for example will instantly close the distance between you and the big bad but there's also an ability for jumping backwards to avoid mechanics. But oh no I'm a melee and I just jumped away, the boss is done with the mean attack but now I have to wal- oh wait DIVE! Dang that's on cool down. I'd walk to the boss but I have no time before it jumps again the rascal... Oh WAIT! My favorite ability of the dragoon is probably one most players think of the least. It isn't hard hitter, it doesn't combo impressively into or around something awesome, it's just continuing to do damage even though the game tried to tell you no.Wgat is it? It's simply chucking your spear at the dumb monsters face! I call it snarpooning. (a joke my friends made about irl cone snails having a deadly snail harpoon btw) Lterally everytime I have to jump away? SNARPOON! Everytime THE BOSS jumps away? Somebody wants to be @&$_$@ snarpooned CLEARLY! Tank wants to pull every gd mob in three plains of existence just two inches ahead of where literally anyone can do anything? I'll STEAL some of your agro I'll be snarpooning so fiercely. And if you get offended and stop tanking? I can just turn on vampire mode, pop my self heal, and use a potion as needed to essentially baby tank complete with a %10 damage reduction I can slap on whatever mob is spoopiest. I literally had a scenario yesterday where I popped my "crit... GUARANTEED!" ability to hasten the defeat of a frankly childish pull (I'm talking 15 mobs easy and man's was in a level 50 instance...) and the wave of crits that I unleashed generated so much agro the entire pool of them turned on me... Sparking an argument between the healer and tank blaming each other the entire rest of said instance. I couldn't tell them it was my fault for throwing a wind scar at that army as I'm on console and typing is just not happening on my end mid instance. My point is if it's a DPS class capable of accidentally being TOO good at their job, I'm on it.
I actually love that you have something for each role. That's my plan too. I currently play summoner but I'm not sure it will be my main... I really want to try paladin. Warrior and sage...oh and reaper
Warrior and Paladin are very approachable tanks, warrior may beat out paladin in comfort, but paladin has more on demand utility and at higher levels has a lot of ranged weaponskills. Red Mage is a lot of fun, you feel very helpful when you dump all your MP to bring back half the party saving a pull. Summoner is also a lot of fun with slightly less utility possibilities than red mage, but you can still rez people. A lot of the jobs are fun and have their benefits, just pick which ever aesthetic you like most and run with it. Gunbreaker for me because sword go bang.
yeah alot of people have suggested warrior. so im hoping to pick that one up. If i get confused or overwhelmed i can always switch. I am LOVING the whole level everythign on one character xD
in high end content tanks might just be the easiest role in progression scenarios only losing to healers once your group learns the fight properly and gets better gear. They might be look scary, I had the same fears when I began playing, but I assure you the role is a lot easier than you might think. Paladin and Warrior are both on the lower end of the skill ceiling for tanks with Dark Knight and Gunbreaker looking more like actual dps jobs during openers and burst phases, which means they press a lot of buttons every 2 min. Warrior specially is very easy at all levels and has the best self-sustain in the game outside of healers of course, Paladin has sustain as well but it cost a lot of MP and you have to stop attacking so if you wanna avoid it if you wanna maximize your damage.
@@LaccreVT Good choice, just take it easy, you can always change your job later. A tip, Arm’s length slows down attack speed and cast speed so its a good defensive ability, something many high level tanks even forget :3
All class are good, So don't worry of which one is better, Play the one you want, each class have their own job that can help the party aswell beside dps ones
@@LaccreVT No worries, The point of leveling is getting muscle memory and once you reach the end you gonna find out the first skills gonna be easy to cast, Even if you gonna rewrite some skill to more comfortable places, Still is gonna be allrite. Just enjoy the game as it gets
I mainly play Dark Knight, but have experience with every single job in the game. If you want to get into tanking, I'd highly recommend Dark Knight, or Warrior as they're both quiet straightforward. Gunbreaker is very fun, but can be quiet difficult. Paladin is not hard, but it's just not as straight forward as Warrior and Dark Knight. Red Mage is a very very fun job that sits at the perfect level of difficulty for me, highly recommend. Machinist is very fun as well, but the gun aesthetic didn't mesh with me. If you want to try healer, then I highly recommend Sage. By far the most fun healer. If you're looking for a starting class though, Dragoon has the best & most relevant story line to the main story, whilst also being incredibly fun.
thank you, this helps alot! i am thinking warrior to start with and go form there. I dont know much about sage tbh, but i currently picked up WHM so im looking forward to trying that out as a healer too
@@LaccreVT not all Classes/Jobs are available right away. For starters you can choose between Marauder/Warrior, Gladiator/Paladin, Lancer/Dragoon, Archer/Bard, Pugilist/Monk, Conjurer/Whitemage and Arcanist. Arcanist is special because after lvl 30 you can either become a Summoner or a Scholar and since both originate from Arcanist you`ll get experience for both, so if your go Summoner your Scholar will be always the same lvl without playing it since they share Exp. Rogue/Ninja can be unlocked at lvl 10. the following jobs start at the lvl you unlock them. Darkknight/Machinist/Astrologien can be unlocked after you have another Combatjob at lvl 30 and have reached the first expansion Heavensward in the Mainstoryquest. Redmage/Samurai can be unlocked once you have another combatjob at lvl 50. Dancer/Gunbreaker at lvl 60. Reaper/Sage at lvl 70. The video from Larry is pretty old at this point and some things have changed/got reworked like Summoner or Monk. Usually all Jobs have their basekit at lvl 60, which translates to their core-ability-rotation beeing available at that lvl with the exception of Redmage/Gunbreaker only really feeling complete at 70 and Reaper at 80 because of the Skills they unlock at that lvl. Arcanist/Summoner get their base-rotation at lvl 26 and Monk get theirs at lvl 30.
If you want to tank Go Paly or Gunbreaker ive played Gunbreaker since intro and its one of my favorite clasess...Its funny In wow i cant tank for crap but i can heal no prob..in FF its the opposite i cant Heal but tanking is a breeze.
yeah im hopeing to tank in this game, wow i hated tanking just because if you didnt know the dungeons you were kicked. How elese were you supposed to learn??
I could suggest jobs for you based off my own bias, but if you truly get into the game you will likely choose your jobs like the rest of us, and that is which one offers the best glamours and aesthetics! I hope you enjoy your time adventuring in FFXIV.
Honestly, most people who have played the game for a while end up playing around with every job. They may have a main, but most also have one or two alt jobs they focus on. Personally, I'm a dark knight main, but like to run dungeons as machinist, black mage, monk, ninja, and astrologian.
i think white mage is the easiest healer to learn but if you go with scholar, it’s def got a higher skill ceiling but imo it takes the most pressure off since it has an answer for everything(not to say whm doesnt but its answer is always the same thing). #teamscholar
I'm a Paladin cause I'm a sucker for Knights and Shields plus the community is so friendly that I was able to get used to tanking. Nothing like pulling ALL the enemies and using Hallowed Ground then popping my Holy Circle spam combo while shouting "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU, BITCH!"
@@LaccreVT Don't worry much about a class' difficulty curve. You can use online guides and practice with NPC's in dungeons. Also practice your rotation with striking dummies. As far as Paladin goes, the best thing is to know what each ability does so you know when best to use each one and in what order. Basically, you use your damage buff and use all your most powerful abilities during the buff window. While you're waiting for the buff ability to come back, you just do your bread and butter combo. You have a combo for single target and a different combo for groups.
@@LaccreVT LOL Make sure you create a macro to say "OH GOD, OH FUCK, HELP!" in chat for maximum efficiency. 🤣 But seriously though, good luck. You can do it!
Tanking is really not that difficult, the main thing to remember is to turn on the tank stance at the start of every dungeon, raid or trial. The FF14 community is very helpful and welcoming with tank sprouts, I am one tank sprout. Just let them know that you are new and they will understand. You can start by pulling 2 or 3 enemy groups instead of going wall to wall in dungeons. At the beginning is better to go slowly because you will not have as many mitigation abilities, the dps probably will not have aoe attacks unlocked and healers will have limited abilities too. Use your mitigation for trash mobs instead of saving them for bosses. Bosses auto attacks are no problem, only the tank busters might require the use of one of your mitigation abilities. And in my opinion tanking is more fun than healing or dps, I play white mage and summoner too but my main is warrior.
im really considering warrior atm, it looks the most fun tank for me plus the healing side of it helps so i dont die. I am slowly learning its not like wow. I tried tanking there and it was like id cut someones arm of, sooooo decided never to tank again lol.
Both Machinist and Red Mage unlock at level 50 once you reach Heavensward. You will need to start with something else (or buy a level boost? not sure you can skip ARR MSQ). The only physical range DPS available at start is Bard. There is more choice on the magical dps side (Black Mage, Summoner). A lot of people start with Summoner because it levels the scholar automatically at the same time. You get a healer for the same effort basically. Imo, if you intend to mainly play range, I would actually suggest to start with a melee job. I started playing the game as Bard and then switched to Machinist. I was quite frankly terrible at it. Always taking AoEs and not understanding how to avoid anything. Then I started to level melee jobs and that is when it actually clicked. The game is designed so that melee dps can actually do damage and avoid big AoEs. Range dps jobs can move freely, but it does not mean that they should move all the time or always stay as far as possible from the action. Good placement is often more important than high moblity. Good placement is usually closer to the boss than what you expect at first.
@@Tani_the_drunk True. You only need to reach Heavensward content for Machinist and Dark Knight due to where the starting quests are located. RDM and SAM both start in Ul'Dah.
Being a tank in ff is really easy, it's just dps but you have to hold aggro and take damage, I was really scared to tank at first but it's honestly just like playing a dps
I’m a Red/Black mage main myself, but I can tell you from experience that tanking is NOT as scary as you think it would be. You’re a DPS with buttons that make you take less damage, that’s it
As a wow head. I would like to the say, that once you experience all of these classes, theyre not all that special... But as a wow head, the class choices are FAN-tastic. Drippiest of Square drip. The reason I play Dark Knight is because of Final Fantasy III. Me, not liking to tank, doesnt even bother me playing the class. If youre new, try to minimize, how many characters you try. It will ruin your experience. Every class basically has 1 rotation. Some will try to argue. Don't listen to them. There's 1 rotation per class with varying RNG procs for that class. Ninja's... theyre ok. If you're a masochist, that is. Also if enjoy seeing the world burn because you're constantly screwing up your combo's. Hopefully... not on purpose.
Best Melee: Samurai with Reaper close on 2nd place. Flashy, big damage and the combos are anything but hard to learn. Best Range: well technically it is Bard in endgame but in the early levels he's so weak and boring and i like the Dancer much more. So Dancer Nr.1 and Machinist Nr2 (cause his base rotation is so mindblowing boring and he lacks support-abilites). Best Mage: Redmage. Yeah Blackmage has potentially higher damage but he plays so slow, static and boring and lacks any support (no heal or revive). Redmage is just so unique with the combination of dual-cast-mechanic and close-combat-bursts. Best Heal: Astrologue. While i do like white mage and sage, both can run out of mana much easier than astrologue and his version of cure II is much better than the white mages. Best Tank: Paladin. Yeah damage-wise he's worse than all the others but he's the toughest nut to crack for any boss. Still i like warrior more in terms of style - a solid 2nd place.
I been playing for almost 3 years now, going slow in the content and nearly finished with Shadowbringers. I can say this game is a ton of fun over WoW with the diversity with one character. Personally think you should play to what you are comfortable with and experiment with the others however you'd like. What did you play in WoW?
i honestly am curious about everything. Ive played almost every class on wow, with monk being my main before i finished. I guess thats why i am looking more to ranged atm so i can learn and not have to be watching where im stepping
Gunbreaker is awesome i was maining warrior then tried gnb and was in love and coz im an 8 fanboy getting the special edition for squalls gunblade glamour
This video is extremely out of date. Its missing two whole jobs, Monk and Summoner play completely differently than they did when this released, Astrologian works somewhat differently (and is getting an overhaul in the coming expansion). For future reference, any video you look up for info regarding actually playing the game, be sure to check the video's release date and go with what is more recent. For no BS videos regarding the game's history, I recommend Rise and Fall of FFXIV by Speakers Network and the 3 part documentary by Noclip.
OK i really have to know, why are you reacting to FFXIV as a newcomer when you have old videos in this same channel about playing FFXIV during Shadowbringers? Heck you even made guides for newcomers to the game.
I am not new to FF but i am new to Lore. I rushed through before to play with friends in end game and remember nothing as i really wasnt interested. Left shortly after due to a bad experience in game. This time i have chose to watch every trailer, cinematic and cutscene to experience lore, learn jobs, mechanics and to actually try the game properly. So basically a oldie noob xD Hope that clears a few things :-). I explain this in the description on every video and also explain this in every live stream.
@@LaccreVT Job stories doesn't matter when you're 5th month into DSR prog with the same class doing the same thing over and over, some classes are more interesting than others in that aspect. I suggest to anyone who enjoys FFXIV to levelup and do all the classes' job quests to see their stories
@@LaccreVT LOL i was just being an ass his video is pretty informative but i’m a zoomer and his sense of humor is palpably aged in my eyes 😭😭😭 i hope his video gave you a good feel for the diff classes tho 🙂
@@LaccreVT I guess you'll see when you actually play the game. Homogenisation is particularly bad for tanks and healers, but all jobs suffer from it. Look up a guide for Dark knight and Warrior, Or sage and Scholar.
would love to see you react to the actual classes before they become the jobs(ex. lancer becomes dragoon etc.) also the non combat ones aka the gatherers and the crafters classes
endwalker changed stuff so things like the monk, summoner, and astro are different than what was described here.
(Before anyone asks I was one of the people who's first time tanking was at level 60, and I don't recommend that. xD)
lol yeah i think id start at level 1 just to get comforatble. Im worried about messing up but atleast lower level i have time to learn
If you want to try a healer, White Mage I think is still the easiest of them to pick up these days.
thank yopu! this helps so much! xD
I recommend starting at level 1 with Archer (which becomes Bard at level 30). This will give you a chance to see how the various boss fights work without having to stand in one spot, which lets you move out of the AoE markers more easily. Once you get to a high enough level to unlock it, I suggest Dancer because it's fun and pretty straightforward, not to mention the *shiny*.
im actually playing ARC right now, just unlocked BRD. Dancer has me interested so im hoping to pick that up later
@@LaccreVT Awesome! My main is RDM but I play DNC a lot, especially in lower level content because the rotation doesn't really change much from 50 to 90.

I personally play reaper and summoner atm, but my favorite healer is white mage and favorite tank is between dark knight and warrior
honestly the community have been AMAZING so far. so im loving that. I currently have BRD and WHM on the go...but havent quite figure out how to level them at the same time lol
Use the main story quests to level your main job and use the daily roulette to level your alt job. The main story gives you far more XP than you need to level up your main. You will never need to grind levels to advance the story anymore. @@LaccreVT
@@LaccreVT Look up unlocking the Challenge log. That's how to level up faster with Leves and Fates.
@@LaccreVT Just remember if you aren't abusing streamer privilege in dungeons and trials just give a short "I'm new to this ____." or "First time." and people will generally be more than happy to help you.
Lemme introduce you to the start-of-game classes:
Archer: Super simple (TOO simple for some people, early on) but gets an unlimited sprint like 10 levels before anyone gets a mount so it's nice for zooming around.
The other combat job unlocks are:
Get a combat job to 50: Red Mage and Samurai
Beat ARR baseline: Blue Mage (weird mini-game job that plays different from everything else)
Start Heavensward: Machinist and Dark Knight
Get a combat job to 60: Gunbreaker and Dancer
Get a combat job to 70: Reaper and Sage
thank you so much for this!!! explains a hell of alot :-)
All tanks are good tanks. in fact all jobs are good jobs. the best one is the one you like best and are best at.
i love this! im excited to try them all eventually
@@LaccreVT Usually these days when people say a job "Sucks" it means theres at most an average 5% difference in performance.
Summoner has been completely redesigned in EW)) And it looks much cooler))
Oh really I may have to look into it
@@LaccreVT My main, personally
Sadly they ditched the aspect of directly controlling your summons, and made them pretty much just show up for a single attack and then unlock a handful of elemental spells on their way out
then when you use up the elemental spells, you summon the next one in the rotation for ITS big attack and a refresh to your elemental spell pool
@Darasilverdragon I miss titan and topaz carbuncle being able to tank
I started as Bard and like it a lot still. I think it is on the easier side for beginners. You can still walk so get easier out of aoe without losing damage. Has a fairly easy rotation that naturally gets added to without throwing off all your built up muscle memory every time and aside from doing damge you have 2 responsibilities, keeping your dots up and using your buffs. Both of those you'll do naturally as those are big parts of your damage rotation anyway.
this is great thak you, i was worried it may get a little too comlicated for me to start with
So a thing on this video, it's from Shadowbringer so some things have changed.
You cannot change my mind.
lol thank you! i am really looking forward to trying everything eventauly. But for a first tank im thinkng warrior ??
Warrior is definitely the way to go if you are new
@@LaccreVT Warrior is definetly the best job for new players, it has a ton of self healing, simple and easy to understand rotation and you get a lot of dopamine rushes when you get new abilities like fell cleave and decimate, im WAR main and i highly recommend it
@@LaccreVT Warrior is definitely the best tank to learn on. At higher levels, it's healing can actually outpace the damage it takes in dungeons.
Machinist is still fun since all your fundamental skills that make machinist a machinist are still there.
i am VERY interested in Machinist. It looks fun tbh and atm thats what im looking for. I dont want a complicated class to then get bored or annoyed
Tanking is chill, can be a bit difficult on raids later, but it's overall nice. I started playing as Paladin and went all the way to Endwalker playing it as my main job.
Aww I'm glad. I really want to try. Just need to just do it I think
You should check out JoCat's crap guide to ffxiv. Those are super good and help a lot.

lol its ok!
Love the random clip of people using the Libre, that little gizmo is a godsend.
Great video! You'll wind up wanting to try a bunch of different jobs, so just enjoy messing around with all of them
i will do!!! excited to try everyone, and the ahivement addict in me wants to level them all
I always recommend this to beginners or vets that main one class.
- From a Bunnyboi.
thank you so much! i am currently watching JoCat and they are hilarious
But in all honesty, the real reason I want to level all the jobs in this game is for fashion, getting the perfect cosplay or glam is just fun!
ive just started with Fashion and im already OBSESSED. and honestly i cant wait to level everything!
As someone who Mained gunbreaker on launch ad my first tank it's easy to pick up and learn while also having the ability to master it to a point where it's nutty how much miti you have
I love the way gunbreaker looks
@Laccreplays I love it, I've gotten 107 out of the 124 spells, some I need to do the masked carnival for
For a first tank as a newbie, I strongly recommend you start with Marauder/Warrior, it is by far the easiest to learn and the most player friendly and has the best recovery from messing up, and if you master the Job, you are literally Doomguy, an unkillable monster slaying machine.
In the end all Jobs however are viable, and with EW most of them have been homogenized so in the endgame there is little to no difference between them except for small % in dps output so you can play whatever Job that you like the look of the most.
thank you for this! i definitely think i will try warrior first, im excited to try and honestly just want an easier one first time round with heals xD
For tank: I recommend MRD/WAR (Marauder/Warrior; Axe go BRRRRR). They have a few buffs that allow them to heal while they do damage. So as long as you time it right you won't need the healer to bother too much; at least for awhile.
For DPS: Monks are my personal favorite (though they removed most of the positionals I still do them out of habit) for being my go to for "no worries, just punch" moods.
thank you for the advice! WAR seems to be my chocie atm. I will play everythign evetually but i think that will be my first pick

On my main nowadays I play as Astrologian, but can change who I play as I play with other people switching to other jobs.
lol haiiii and yeah i think im just goint to level everythign at this point xD
when it comes to tanking, all you need to know to start is, turn on your tank stance, spin to win ( just use your AoE to do damage until you are comfortable), and press 1 mitigation skill at a time. once you master that, THEN you can worry about the other things :) . Also, the community is pretty good toward new people. Just let people know when you enter a dungeon, you will get help, and if the heals is experienced, they will know to adjust for you since you are learning. but above all else, Have fun, nothing (except the main scenario quests) is mandatory, and fun is the ultimate goal :) Good Luck in your journey.
thank you so much! im really excited to try it out and plan to do all jobs...eventually.
As a new player who went to dancer. I can say it’s really fun. It may not be the best DPS I think, but it’s still really fun
Honestly thats what im mostly after epecially going through MSQ
So many jobs that are balanced and fun to play vs in wow where they straight up tell players to stop playing a job because they don't like it themselves xD
they added reaper and sage in endwalker and viper for dawntrail (we don't know the second job for dawntrail yet but it will be a magic ranged)
While pugilist is good for new players, i actually prefer arcanist/summoner for new players, playing DPS is more stress free and lets you learn basic mechs, summoner has by far the most simple and to a degree the most boring rotation but its good for new people and leveling arcanist/summoner also levels scholar so they can switch to healer without need to level new job
thank you for the advice. I think eventually i would love to try RDM as i feel it wil suit me more but for tank i may try warrior
I don’t personally know the others except Gunbreaker, which I do not recommend as your first tank because it’s like a Hero Class like Death Knight/Demon Hunter where it gives you ALL your abilities right away and it’s a LOT to deal with
thank you! i am actually going for warrior first. It seems simple enough for me to pick up as a first and has heals xD
@@LaccreVT There's a lot of cool axes
For quick progression you might wanna pick up a tank or a healer since their queues usually pop instantly unlike DPS which may take a couple of minutes to pop since there's far more of those around usually.
thank you for the advice. I actually just reacted to a Up to date guide. But this helps alot :-)
Paladin main from the beginning big piece of advice for tanking and healing tell tour team your learning them in party chat and that will take a magority of the stress away as your team will slow down and assist where possible most of the time
im quite fortunate to have people who are willing to do them with me so i can learn, Appriciate the advice :-)
Yeah i think im going to start with warrior and then work my way up to gunbreaker when im alittle bit more comfortable with tanking
Definitely try tank. Press mitigation when swarmed by admirers or big red cicle of incoming /dote from the boss appears, and you'll be fine for the first 50 lvl.
Im really excited to try tbh
@@LaccreVT Believe it or not but Dancer (DNC) is much easier than Bard (BRD) and more fun IMO. Its something to experience yourself to find out why.
Then you can swap you caster to Red Mage later.
thanks for the comment, i have picked up Bard for now but i may pick up a caster aswell just to see which i prefer
Tanking is probably the easiest role, I might get flack for this but its true. All you do now to tank is turn on your stance, aoe spam groups of mobs, and make sure the boss is facing away from the party and you're set. Really that simple.
Edit: Oh, and use your defensive cooldowns obviously
I think being the person leading the dungeon worries me. That fear comes from wow. You don't do good or don't know mechanics, you get kicked.
I think il end up trying them all just so I can see which one I prefer. Atm I've gone with WHM just because I've been told it's the easier class
originally ~ the reason why I play this game, cause one of my friend says that you can get the outfit shown in the trailer for "Free" after lvl 80
not know how long it would take, cause I thought this was like typical MMO , where you can power thru the quest and just get lvl
yeah, playing Dark Knight is really fun and amazing, it's a tank but play like dps , but after lvl 70 , once you get your signature skill, TBN ,
getsuga tenshou-like skill , I never play a tank like this in any other mmo
but the Dark Knight story quest is really mindblowing for me + Heavensward Main story
the only regret I have that I skipped to much on A Realms Reborn and only focused after I got to Heavensward cause I wanted to play dark knight so badly~
I rush to the content ~ T_ T
lmfao i mean thats one way to play and MMO.
yeah i get that, i have been in ff before but rushed through everything to play with friends and left shortly after.
I also am nervous to Tank but I am currently leveling Warrior & it is ok so far!
this is great!!! i have white mage, just havent actually levelled her yet. i went in either wanting to tank or dps
I think warrior will be the way forward for me tbh, at least to start with
@@LaccreVT Good choice, just take it easy, you can always change your job later. A tip, Arm’s length slows down attack speed and cast speed so its a good defensive ability, something many high level tanks even forget :3
astrologian is kinda complicated but once ive gotten used to it I love it its fast paced and fun
which healer would you say is easier for a begginer?

Look up JoCat's Crap Guide series; there's solid advice there about each role and he also does a good job explaining all the jobs

woah monk, ninja and black mage?? TEACH ME! lol
i love machinist its so fun
i think white mage is the easiest healer to learn but if you go with scholar, it’s def got a higher skill ceiling but imo it takes the most pressure off since it has an answer for everything(not to say whm doesnt but its answer is always the same thing). #teamscholar
hmmmm i may look into scholar, i currently have WHM but i switched to ARC lol

LMFAO YESSSS! i love this. So is paladin hard to learn?
@@LaccreVT Don't worry much about a class' difficulty curve. You can use online guides and practice with NPC's in dungeons. Also practice your rotation with striking dummies. As far as Paladin goes, the best thing is to know what each ability does so you know when best to use each one and in what order. Basically, you use your damage buff and use all your most powerful abilities during the buff window. While you're waiting for the buff ability to come back, you just do your bread and butter combo. You have a combo for single target and a different combo for groups.

Good placement is usually closer to the boss than what you expect at first.
thank you for the advice, i currently anm levelling BRD so i think il pick up a melee too :-)
Not correct, RDM and SAM are unlockable as soon you hit lvl 50, doesnt matter how far you are in the story.
@@Tani_the_drunk True. You only need to reach Heavensward content for Machinist and Dark Knight due to where the starting quests are located. RDM and SAM both start in Ul'Dah.
Being a tank in ff is really easy, it's just dps but you have to hold aggro and take damage, I was really scared to tank at first but it's honestly just like playing a dps
this is such a relief! lol i was really worries. This its more nervous now, but everyones been so nice so im sure il get it quickly
There is 2 more jobs, Reaper and Sage
Oh noooo! Il have to check them out too!
@@LaccreVT
And there are two more coming in the upcoming expansion
@@exceedcharge1 O_O il be making a whole new video LOL
WoW's class variety (in terms of combat design) is so much better than 14's
i really liked wows combat, i just really love that we can level EVERY job on 1 character. Something i wish wow had
Come to the Dragoon side. We have dragons.
SOLD!!!
@@LaccreVT we also have dragon speak!
Tohm morn, an eskh na
There’s 4 jobs in FF. Tank, melee, ranged and healer. The rest is all flavour.
lol i love this
I’m a Red/Black mage main myself, but I can tell you from experience that tanking is NOT as scary as you think it would be. You’re a DPS with buttons that make you take less damage, that’s it
im hoping ot pick up tank soon, just need to try it out and hopefully i will love it lol
@@LaccreVT the early ARR dungeons are really good for learning the early tank levels and mechanics and such
i will be sure to give them a go @@Sentifray
Hopefully... not on purpose.
thank you :-) its great to hear from wow heads and their experiences
Still i like warrior more in terms of style - a solid 2nd place.
ive found i liek to be able to move whilst casting O_O if im stuck im screwed lol
I guess thats why i am looking more to ranged atm so i can learn and not have to be watching where im stepping
i would probably say try other tanks before gunbreaker.
will do :-)
gunbreaker is an excellent tank and the one I use the most.... Also 1st suck it hooman
Lmfao
Gunbreaker is awesome i was maining warrior then tried gnb and was in love and coz im an 8 fanboy getting the special edition for squalls gunblade glamour
I think WoW has more. Each class has multiple specs so its like each class has multiple jobs.
yeah that makes sense, i guess i still wasnt expecting so many in ff and that we can level everything on 1 character
HowToTank, Put agro buff on, Hit Stuff If die, blame healer,
lmfao but healers are MVP!
red mage is best for dps easy and fun to play
i am so excited to try this on out
If you are scared of Tanking but want to try it anyway, try Warrior. They just don't die.
i think this will be the on ei try first. Im more scared of doing it wrong
You'll be fine, stance on and point them north and the rest plays itself. If something goes wrong we can always respawn. @@LaccreVT
yeah im learning the community is much better in this game than wow xD @@Asako_Gaming
ua-cam.com/video/P8oVV_I-tIA/v-deo.htmlsi=DrTfqskMbS582YPH
This video is extremely out of date. Its missing two whole jobs, Monk and Summoner play completely differently than they did when this released, Astrologian works somewhat differently (and is getting an overhaul in the coming expansion).
For future reference, any video you look up for info regarding actually playing the game, be sure to check the video's release date and go with what is more recent. For no BS videos regarding the game's history, I recommend Rise and Fall of FFXIV by Speakers Network and the 3 part documentary by Noclip.
thank you! yeah ive been told its old.My fault for not checking. Thank you for the advice though :-)
MCH for teh win
When the ad popped up on your screen i went to skip it, then right as you clicked skip and ad popped up for me
lmfao i really should do something about the ads
Too bad you missed out on the Endwalker jobs like Sage and Reaper
i know! people were telling me after that i missed it
What’s the original video?
honestly i dont remember, i thought i linked it. Will do once i find it.
Smn became much more cool after the rework...you just summon primals Also pld got more big deeps actions
Big deeps sounds good to me!
so many jobs... wow - 12 classes - 35 specs
yes but all on 1 character. if wow did that too id be impressed
If you want to try tank, Warrior is the easiest for new players. Lots of self healing, lots of damage.
thats grat thank you :-) The self healing part makes me feel better about it
@@LaccreVT War after lvl 56 is borderline imortal in Non-highend Raidcontent
Sadly this video is out of date. A lot has changed especially with healers.
ive actuallay reacted to a newer one now as i didnt realise how out of date this was :-)
shame whomever linked you this is REALLY behind. Its old, you need an updated version of the classes. (endwalker)
im actually watching some newer ones (up tomorrow) i didn trealise how old this was. Still enjoyed watching it though
Imagine not linking the persons video. lol
WAIT ... i didnt???
@@LaccreVT It definitely happens! lol
@@RobTucker83 im trying to find it, will link it in the video when i do. thank you for calling me out LMFAO xD
Yeah this video is out of data and 2 jobs short
yeah i realised a re did an upto date one. latest one on my youtube
"Dragoon looks fun" that's the lie. It looks fun, but it's awfully boring to play. Atleast in my opinion and opinions differ.
oh really, ive been told it has one of the best story lines???
@@LaccreVT Job stories doesn't matter when you're 5th month into DSR prog with the same class doing the same thing over and over, some classes are more interesting than others in that aspect. I suggest to anyone who enjoys FFXIV to levelup and do all the classes' job quests to see their stories

really lol xD
@@LaccreVT LOL i was just being an ass his video is pretty informative but i’m a zoomer and his sense of humor is palpably aged in my eyes 😭😭😭 i hope his video gave you a good feel for the diff classes tho 🙂
Don't be fooled, they're all the same.
The homogenisation is insane in FF...
But they all look different
@@LaccreVT I guess you'll see when you actually play the game. Homogenisation is particularly bad for tanks and healers, but all jobs suffer from it.
Look up a guide for Dark knight and Warrior, Or sage and Scholar.
would love to see you react to the actual classes before they become the jobs(ex. lancer becomes dragoon etc.) also the non combat ones aka the gatherers and the crafters classes
