- You REALLY won't be able to fully appreciate this without good speakers/earphones/headphones. Hope you enjoy.
The famous theme from the TV show, from Quincy Jones' 1973 album "You've Got It Bad Girl." Also called "The Streetbeater."
For this one, I obviously used 3 basses:
1. Squier 5-string VM Jazz Bass (main bass line, left speaker)
2. Squier CV Precision Bass (accent bass, right speaker)
3. Fender MIM Jazz Bass (distortion, run through wah pedal in right speaker).
Wah used was from a Digitech BP355 bass processor.
Video recorded with a Canon 5D Mark III DSLR.
Fantastic job and one of my favorite shows .i grew up watching Fred G. Sanford in the 70’s
This is why the world is still an awesome place. Despite how dark technology and social media can be. I was humming this super funky tune to myself, then realized that it was the Sanford and Son theme, then googled S&S theme with funky bass and was lead to you (all within a minute), and something you uploaded 7 years ago. Now I'm smiling ear to ear, and this exercise of yours is still paying off with new views. Cheers!
Well, I'm certainly glad it brought you here, and thanks for taking the time to let me know!
You have a good ear. No one else on UA-cam plays this song correctly. They always miss those important notes and nuances. Great job!!
That's Awesome. ...I thought I heard at least 2 bassists playing in Quincy Jones's original...'The Steetbeater'....Awesome bass cover...of an Awesome song
A genius composition by Quincy Jones. Great bass work. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a kind comment.
Dude! This is AWESOME!👍
My favorite bass player, Chuck Rainey. 👍🏼
I was going to say "One of my favorites," but I think overall I have to agree...he's truly my favorite also.
Awesome! Sadly this song is what made me fall in love with bass 😂
This was one of 'em for me too.
Great job, Tremayne!
Tremayne making that bass motivation for real !
Dam you smoking that bad boy
Sweet!!! I love that song. It's nice to see how it's played.
Thanks! I've been trying to play that on my bass for years. Like 40. Seriously. Nice job, awesome theme for an awesome show. Sanford and Son is my top 2 sitcoms of all time
Hmm mm. Nice job Tremayne. takes me back, use to watch this all the time as a kid.
it must be tremenduous fun to be that good at bass
Thank you for the kind words. It can be fun, but also frustrating not being nearly where I want to be.
Superb!
Awesome!!!
Godd F$#*ing job. Yeah the song does sound double and triple tracked at times. I think you nailed it.
that was insane. Very good. I could never do that mouhahahaha.
Excellent job! I couldn't for the life of me imagine how this was arranged.
Thanks. It took me a bit to figure out, too.
Best cover for sure
OMG!!! So cool! Loved the P Bass in there even though I am a J Bass fanatic!! Love this!
I could play this too, if it weren't for my arthritis!
This funkier than Aunt Esther's face 👍
🤣😅🤣Gorilla cookies

Wow! Thanks for the upload!
Enjoyed that...great job!
oldskool groove Thanks, high praise from you!
Damn this is soooooo good.
That was HOT! Great playing! Do you know if Chuck played that on a Fender J-bass and was it a 5-string?
Thanks! I think he was mainly using Jazz back then, but I'm pretty sure he was only playing 4-string.
Yes! From Blewfoot....
Hey Tremayne Price! I don't usually comment anymore, but I'm having an existential breakdown here. Man, is your groove better than Mr. Rainey's??? Well done sir!
Hi, TheSlow Norris. Thanks for the kind words, but no way in hell do I groove harder than Chuck Rainey! Some of his lines and ad libs are still mindblowing to me.
There were three different bassists on this track. Chuck Rainey, Mac Arnold and Louis Johnson.
I never knew that. :-o Thank you for passing it on.
@@TremaynePrice , I work for Mac Arnold & Plate Full O' Blues. Mac Told me of his recording experience on the track with Quincy Jones. As it was common back in the day, to have a few bass tracks and merge different sections of them together.
Ha! yes! From Blewfoot...
Beautiful!, love love love that show and the bass line!
Tremayne ya big dummy.. 😉...good stuff
😄😄 Thanks!
Dig it.
Ride To Live Live To Ride Thanks for watching.
Need to redo this add some more Bass to it and turn the original theme down so we can hear you playing this just to out
