I already know this developer and this game. Easy Red are his best games. For one dude, he does great. It feels so much better than the first one as well, and he works hard on it.
I love this game. I used to play battlefield 1942 against bots with my brother. We had 2 PCs hooked up to each other via a single lan cable so we'd just spend hours squadding up and taking on the bots, hopping in tanks together and blasting away.. just turning the game into out own little co-op sandbox. This game allows for that exact experience and it's made us both so nostalgic.

I have played battlefield 1942 and battlefield Vietnam but I can’t get them to work on my laptop even though I have the discs plus the first disc for battlefield 1942 is cracked
I am usually a "vehicle" person (using your terms here!), and the tanks in co-op are hilarious, I gotta admit. Between the commander practically begging for the driver to turn the front to another direction, the gunner ignoring the tank one degree to his right because of the limited line of sight while it's turning to shoot us, and the poor coaxial gunner either waiting for a target or never running out of them, it's a really fun activity! ...except for that one horrible mission where the German tanks are outnumbered, like, 4 to 1 and the AI accuracy of the enemy ruins any fun you could have had. Which, like you said, is definitely historically accurate but makes for a not-so-fun game mission.
The developer just hired new sound designers and modelers to improve the game. I have been following this game since it launch and I can say it is really fun even though it has some flaws. 8.5/10
IMO, weapons are 6/10 sounding, models are mostly fine for my taste maybe 7/10 even if the textures are pretty plain, but the first person weapon animations are the main thing that makes the game look worse than it needs to. Hopefully the modeler addresses that in the process.
@@KvltKommando I have got great news for you haha. The sound designer dude is reworking the guns and he is super talented. The animations as far as I know are going to be fixed soon. If you are curious you can contact the developer and ask about it on the discord server.
I made a suggestion on their discord channel once, the developer said soon afterwards that it was a good suggestion, and within two days he had patched my suggestion into the game (I told him among some things that being able to switch control to your squadmates would be great, and lo and behold he did it). Although the game is obviously very janky, there is a lot of heart and effort put into constantly improving it and I think that counts for a lot.
God, I had a nation devided on ps2 as a kid, and I liked it at the time tbh, especially when I got the god mode cheat, never got around to secret missions or the pacific though
It was kind of neat seeing the Italian's fight the Germans. Its often never explored in media but Italy was divided after the Allies invaded and took the south of Italy and Mussolini was imprisoned. Mussolini was then broke free by German Commandos and he took control of Northern Italy as a puppet to Nazi Germany. This led to a short civil war for about a year between the south of Italy (The Kingdom of Italy) and the north of Italy (Social Republic of Italy), though conflict between the two was extremely limited and most of the fighting was done by the Italian Resistance movement.
Based on the old font (the triangular A's and such) this is a couple weeks old build. We already have better infantry movement, new sounds and a few other tweaks. Marco the developer is super active on Discord and is open to suggestions. As a BF1942 vet, this is the best WWII game we've had in a while (in terms of sandbox) and the potential is HUGE. The AI is good and again, has been improved based on this showcased build. Come along and join us. Also Jarek didn't mention you can host these missions [and custom ones] ONLINE! PVE and PVP is a thing. It's such a steal and worth your time and will only get better.
Wait a one man team and the AI is good? how? AI especially Good AI are from what I remember really hard to make and time consuming. Remember a lot of games that people was like they have great AI problem was that the AI was scripted in that game so if you did anything that deviated from how the devs expected it fall flat. then we got HL2 combine AI that was good sadly the environment they was in did not let that show. and then moders just ploped them down in one huge group on a map whit nothing but the basic auto generate Nav points mesh meaning they had no info about the level like this is a tiny bridge dont stand on it if you can and so on. then problem number two HL2 Group AI works on only two member in each group can fire at a time, 1-2 must move or reload if they need to reload. and special exeption if there is a shotgunner that can /should try and rush/close in on the player and rapid empty the barrel so durring a short window 3 memmbers can shot at the player at the same time. problem came that a lot of player would make maps whit 1 huge group of combine soldiers (20-30) soldiers all in the same squad and thoes only 2 would fire + 1 the shotgunner if he was clsoe enouth, and another 1-3 or so would look for cover exept that kind of info was not inserted into the map nav data so they couldn´t really find any good cover. another thing is the fact that as soon as one memmber of the squad knows where you are the rest know where you are. this is fine if the squad (2-4 memmber) are all in the same room looking the same way. it causes problem if one of the squad is on the other end of the map while the one that spot you is on its own.
I did mention there is single player, coop, and multiplayer in the video. I would think online is the assumption with shooters unless stated other wise.
@@Zack_Wester they are surprisingly good in the game. They take cover, suppress enemies and retreat if they are outnumbered, sometimes they flank. They are kind of dumb inside buildings though lmao

@@Zack_Wester Well I'm a bit of a fan of hunting down and trying these games that give you 'maps and bots'. Ravenfield, Brass Brigade, BF2, BF1942 - you name it. And Easy red 2 definitely has the best feeling bots ever. Naturally they can only be so smart when it comes to an open map game like this but it feels like a real singleplayer game AI. Meaning bots use vehicles, will dismount when disabled. You can order them around and even switch like in Enlisted. They can mantle low cover, take cover , get surpressed, AI medics can revive units, they surrender if a point is captured and they're still around during capture. AI planes will fly around and actually do accurate runs. Tanks crews are multi man and they do their job fine (Kinda like ARMA!) Considering again you have custom made maps of variable quality and randomness, that are probably not tested extensively by their authors - I've never had the AI get completely stuck or break down. It genuinely feels random each time. The game gets updated fast and we have the potential for the best bot game here, it's so worth it.
It's nice to see a well known creator cover this game and bit just shit on it because "thE GraPhiCs arE BaD" or the game has jank (looking at you BigFryTV). This thing was made by one dude, it's extremely impressive for that and isn't even a bad game either, it's really quite good.
i liked easy red and a front too far back in the days they were released, but i hated how cluncky they feel. When easy red 2 was released i was like, well lets support this guy and have some fun, what i didnt expected is to love this game so much. 1 or 2 updates per week, a lot of content added, and fixes for everything, this was one of those games with what i said it was worth the money, it still feels a bit cluncky, still feels early access but it is really good for being an one man's work. also Jarek you forgot one faction, there are polish soldiers too
@@Jarekthegamingdragon no they've been in the game. I believe you unlock polish soldiers in the later missions of the Anzio campaign. I think sometimes they're also mixed in with the Brits as well

I bought this game because i wanted a semi-realistic ww2 shooter, that 1: doesnt require a good graphics card and 2: doesnt rely on multiplayer only, since i sometimes have days where i just dont feel like getting destroyed by better players or getting shit on by better teammates for not doing my job. This game is PERFECT for those criterias. If the developer/s can push this game towards a bigger crowd so that the servers get a bigger population than just 2-3 players per server, i can really see this game becoming the new battlefield 2, something i really wanted for a long time
This a great case of Passion over Greed. Sure,it isn't a Battlefield looking game on RTX going hyper-turbo mode, but there is quality here, there is a good amount of focus and knowing what exactly he wanted to do, instead of changing plans every 2 seconds because the suits want to follow a new trend

I bought this game a few days back and honestly in a few months I can see this game being akin to a single player enlisted. It's genuinely really enjoyable with no grind.
Didn't even know he released a sequel. Loved ER1 but it lacked content. Happy to see they brought out a new one. Also didn't know it was just 1 guy. Radical
This seems like a cool game and I do hope that it gets more support. I would love to see this start to be worked on by a team because this has the potential to be what everyone wants in a modern day WW2 FPS.
I notice you mention Red Orchestra 2 pretty often in your videos. It’s probably my favorite multiplayer game of all time. You should do a video about it if you haven’t already because there’s still full servers daily.
Easy Red 2 feels like what Battlefield could've been if they veered towards more grounded, even paced, laborious gameplay than trying to imitate and compete against Call of Duty. And the fact that Easy Red 2 was made by one singular individual, and can competently stand up to games like Call of Duty and Battlefield and not be torn apart, hell, even LOVED by its community, and the developer WILLINGLY takes feedback. I hadn't played it in a hot minute, but I could tell the significant differences between when I first played it and today. Its constantly improving, constantly getting better. Its just so fun to play. Even if for a little while.
I am reminded of enlisted where you control a squad, and vehicles are very very clunky in that game plus each person or tanker is an actual person that can die.
This is honestly my favorite new WW2 combined arms game. It gives me Battlefield 1942 vibes, but much more updated. It's crazy how much is actually in the game.
I played this for the first time today after seeing your review. I had no idea it was done by one developer. Absolutely phenomenal work! Thanks for the upload Jarek! It’s always a good day when you drop new content man, you’re one of the few solid reviewers out there who hasn’t sold their soul. It’s a very interesting game, kudos for having the Italians vs the Germans as they did side with the Allies at the end of World War II once it became apparent the Third Reich wasn’t able to fight on 3 fronts and the Allies started really putting in work. The game somewhat reminds me of Enlisted to a degree.
Not that it really matters, but the *does technically* have a magazine, it's just fixed internally. So in a way you were right both in the moment and in the editing chair 🤔 Also, it's a testament to the work and care put into this game that I could tell which footage was of the Italian faction by the Beretta Model 38. That's not one that's far forward in a normie's awareness of WW2 guns
I love the graphics. It's got a real nostalgic early-to-mid 2000s feel to it, a throwback to the golden age of WWII shooters and doesn't have all the gloss of modern shooters.
After watching this review, I went ahead and bought the game. And OH BOY, this legit became one of my favorite games thanks to the straightforward mission editor, it feels really cool making ur own missions with whatever you want. Thanks for doing the review!
Just here to say the dev is still working on this game. Animation overhaul that i believe applies to all weapons comes any week now. Stalingrad dlc is a lot of fun
It’s coming to Switch. This is a MUST buy and the ONLY game on the platform like it. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for something like Battlefield to come to Switch. Also... CUSTOM MAPS? Bruh. That is just too cool. Cant complain about not enough content when you can make it yourself or download more!!! 😎 I hope this dude makes TONS of money for his work so he can update and patch this game up to be the best possible game ever!
I'll be THAT guy and say that the Garand does have an internal magazine so you were correct when saying that you shot the last round out of your magazine. The only time this would be incorrect is when talking about a revolver, a single shot weapon or belt-fed weapon. Saying you "emptied your clip" is wrong in all but a small amount of cases while "emptied your magazine" has the highest chance of being correct, second only to emptied your chamber and emptied your weapon.
Loved a front to far but it'[s jank got to me... this looks so much better like a mix between a front to far,BF1942/1943, and a Day in infamay. I'll have to try it thanks for the reveiw!
Looking forward for the Nintendo Switch version. How it will pan out (planned release 1:st september). According to the developer, it aims for 720p/1080p, 40-60fps. Does sound promising, esp. as it will be only 7.99 USD on the eShop.
The first Easy Red game was a vastly overrated game (dev size doesn't really matter at a certain point) and I cringed at the "better than cod ww2" reviews it kept getting. However, Easy Red 2 looks to be a biiiiiig improvement over the original and I'm happy for the dev going forward.
You should consider re-doing this review! The game is a lot better now. Much better first person animations. Planes have been rebalanced so that strafing is viable. Better voice actors. The USSR was added as was an entire Battle of Stalingrad campaign. France is being added next. There is also now a fantastic D-Day campaign covering not much the beach landings, but also the initial battles to pushing inwards such as Carentan and Pegasus Bridge. Tons of new vehicles and weapons have been added too and it has workshop support!
I know why its Italy vs Germany. The developer is Italian, and Italians have convinced themselves they were never with axis. They never took any responsability for having joined the germans, and even to this day they will try and guilt trip Germany about the second world war. (stuff like Italian politicians buying add space in German newspapers reminding them of how the Italians ''spared'' them humiliation during the Paris peace treaties). So yes, the Italians have managed to convince themselves they were the good guys in the second world war
Also the campaign where you fight the Germans as Italians is the incident where Italian soldiers in Kos island became allies with the British and the Germans didn't like that so they pretty much got massacred.
Yeah you definitely haven't played the game. For one, Italy joined the Allies after it's capitulation in WW2. Two, the game has 3 campaigns. The first campaign covers the Battle of Anzio, before Italy capitulated and thus Italy is on the side of the Axis. The second campaign is in the pacific (so not relevant to your comment) and the third campaign is the Invasion of Kos by Germany after Italy had capitulated and joined the Allies. In the Invasion of Kos, British and Italian forces are on the same side as is historically accurate. Due to game limitations, the British aren't seen as a separate faction during the Invasion of Kos though, but their vehicles and soldiers randomly spawn within the Italian forces. So sometimes you'll spawn as a British soldier and other times an Italian soldier. This is specific to the Invasion of Kos campaign. It happens in a few other campaigns too though. For example, the Italians and Germans are combined in a few maps from the Battle of Anzio campaign.
I would reccomend ro1 wich is pretty cheap on steam its running on first unreal engine and thers no bandaging system but when someone shoots you in your leg u will fall down if some one shoots you in your wrist the gun will fall from your hands and u have pick it up. There is a building system tanks are fun sometimes the game feels janky but its 17yo game it has a community that keeps modding it servers are still full sometimes mainly later in the day… its amazing to see ppl still moding and fanbase still active i would recommend this geme if you liked ro2 or rising storm 1-2 or if you like arma 3. Besides its dated graphics and sometimes buggs (mainly when you drivng a tank or any vehicle) its a fun game and in the 100+h i have on it ive had a blast playing it. But if you dont have any experience with the last 2 games its gonna feel pretty bad one shot one kill so you gonna die a lot if you dont take cover grandes and bombs actually have shrapnel.
Games like these usually have dumb as bricks AI or Godlike AI, this game definitely has the latter in terms of shooting skills. I've found there's approximately a 200-250 meter killzone radius where the enemy AI will INSTANTLY know where you are regardless of foliage and cover in the way and accurately light you up. It sucks but since its a single person developer it's understandable the AI isn't very complicated.
That's not true, The AI in that game cannot see you through bushes, Plus they don't have accurate shooting, they mostly suppress you, when you get killed it's because you have to take cover, Plus don't forget about airplanes, They target you if you were a squad leader.
@@Russell970 Mmmph their Iine of sight is inconsistent at best, I've charged a group of Italian NPCs in a village without them even turning abound. Maybe the GodAI turns off once you close the 10m gap
You should check out Predator: Concrete Jungle. It's an old, kinda obscure PS2 game from 2005 that was absolutely atrocious. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it when I was a kid

Reminds me of Red Orchestra 2 tanks. Sitting in a T-34 surrounded by Germans while yelling orders at your tankmates is a lot of fun
just shoot faster but honestly the best way to deal with them is to hold back and snipe the hostile tanks

So if you put the wrong artillery coords in then it bombs the wrong place, potentially killing half your team? That is cool

@@Jarekthegamingdragon no they've been in the game. I believe you unlock polish soldiers in the later missions of the Anzio campaign. I think sometimes they're also mixed in with the Brits as well

I bought this game because i wanted a semi-realistic ww2 shooter, that 1: doesnt require a good graphics card and 2: doesnt rely on multiplayer only, since i sometimes have days where i just dont feel like getting destroyed by better players or getting shit on by better teammates for not doing my job. This game is PERFECT for those criterias. If the developer/s can push this game towards a bigger crowd so that the servers get a bigger population than just 2-3 players per server, i can really see this game becoming the new battlefield 2, something i really wanted for a long time
This a great case of Passion over Greed. Sure,it isn't a Battlefield looking game on RTX going hyper-turbo mode, but there is quality here, there is a good amount of focus and knowing what exactly he wanted to do, instead of changing plans every 2 seconds because the suits want to follow a new trend

I bought this game a few days back and honestly in a few months I can see this game being akin to a single player enlisted. It's genuinely really enjoyable with no grind.
Didn't even know he released a sequel. Loved ER1 but it lacked content. Happy to see they brought out a new one. Also didn't know it was just 1 guy. Radical

The thing that makes this game stand out for me is that it's single player focused first and the level editor is really fun and easy to use.
I enjoyed watching you stream this game, You're underrated on the twitch platform.
This seems like a cool game and I do hope that it gets more support. I would love to see this start to be worked on by a team because this has the potential to be what everyone wants in a modern day WW2 FPS.

Easy Red 2 feels like what Battlefield could've been if they veered towards more grounded, even paced, laborious gameplay than trying to imitate and compete against Call of Duty.
And the fact that Easy Red 2 was made by one singular individual, and can competently stand up to games like Call of Duty and Battlefield and not be torn apart, hell, even LOVED by its community, and the developer WILLINGLY takes feedback. I hadn't played it in a hot minute, but I could tell the significant differences between when I first played it and today.
Its constantly improving, constantly getting better.
Its just so fun to play. Even if for a little while.
I am reminded of enlisted where you control a squad, and vehicles are very very clunky in that game plus each person or tanker is an actual person that can die.

This is honestly my favorite new WW2 combined arms game. It gives me Battlefield 1942 vibes, but much more updated. It's crazy how much is actually in the game.
I played this for the first time today after seeing your review. I had no idea it was done by one developer. Absolutely phenomenal work! Thanks for the upload Jarek! It’s always a good day when you drop new content man, you’re one of the few solid reviewers out there who hasn’t sold their soul. It’s a very interesting game, kudos for having the Italians vs the Germans as they did side with the Allies at the end of World War II once it became apparent the Third Reich wasn’t able to fight on 3 fronts and the Allies started really putting in work. The game somewhat reminds me of Enlisted to a degree.
The Italians switched sides during the war in October of 1943 and fought the Germans for about 18 months. It’s interesting.

I love the graphics. It's got a real nostalgic early-to-mid 2000s feel to it, a throwback to the golden age of WWII shooters and doesn't have all the gloss of modern shooters.

It’s coming to Switch. This is a MUST buy and the ONLY game on the platform like it. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for something like Battlefield to come to Switch. Also... CUSTOM MAPS? Bruh. That is just too cool. Cant complain about not enough content when you can make it yourself or download more!!! 😎 I hope this dude makes TONS of money for his work so he can update and patch this game up to be the best possible game ever!

I'll be THAT guy and say that the Garand does have an internal magazine so you were correct when saying that you shot the last round out of your magazine. The only time this would be incorrect is when talking about a revolver, a single shot weapon or belt-fed weapon. Saying you "emptied your clip" is wrong in all but a small amount of cases while "emptied your magazine" has the highest chance of being correct, second only to emptied your chamber and emptied your weapon.

The first Easy Red game was a vastly overrated game (dev size doesn't really matter at a certain point) and I cringed at the "better than cod ww2" reviews it kept getting. However, Easy Red 2 looks to be a biiiiiig improvement over the original and I'm happy for the dev going forward.

You should consider re-doing this review! The game is a lot better now. Much better first person animations. Planes have been rebalanced so that strafing is viable. Better voice actors. The USSR was added as was an entire Battle of Stalingrad campaign. France is being added next. There is also now a fantastic D-Day campaign covering not much the beach landings, but also the initial battles to pushing inwards such as Carentan and Pegasus Bridge. Tons of new vehicles and weapons have been added too and it has workshop support!

I know why its Italy vs Germany. The developer is Italian, and Italians have convinced themselves they were never with axis. They never took any responsability for having joined the germans, and even to this day they will try and guilt trip Germany about the second world war. (stuff like Italian politicians buying add space in German newspapers reminding them of how the Italians ''spared'' them humiliation during the Paris peace treaties). So yes, the Italians have managed to convince themselves they were the good guys in the second world war

Also the campaign where you fight the Germans as Italians is the incident where Italian soldiers in Kos island became allies with the British and the Germans didn't like that so they pretty much got massacred.
Yeah you definitely haven't played the game. For one, Italy joined the Allies after it's capitulation in WW2. Two, the game has 3 campaigns. The first campaign covers the Battle of Anzio, before Italy capitulated and thus Italy is on the side of the Axis. The second campaign is in the pacific (so not relevant to your comment) and the third campaign is the Invasion of Kos by Germany after Italy had capitulated and joined the Allies. In the Invasion of Kos, British and Italian forces are on the same side as is historically accurate. Due to game limitations, the British aren't seen as a separate faction during the Invasion of Kos though, but their vehicles and soldiers randomly spawn within the Italian forces. So sometimes you'll spawn as a British soldier and other times an Italian soldier. This is specific to the Invasion of Kos campaign. It happens in a few other campaigns too though. For example, the Italians and Germans are combined in a few maps from the Battle of Anzio campaign.

I would reccomend ro1 wich is pretty cheap on steam its running on first unreal engine and thers no bandaging system but when someone shoots you in your leg u will fall down if some one shoots you in your wrist the gun will fall from your hands and u have pick it up. There is a building system tanks are fun sometimes the game feels janky but its 17yo game it has a community that keeps modding it servers are still full sometimes mainly later in the day… its amazing to see ppl still moding and fanbase still active i would recommend this geme if you liked ro2 or rising storm 1-2 or if you like arma 3. Besides its dated graphics and sometimes buggs (mainly when you drivng a tank or any vehicle) its a fun game and in the 100+h i have on it ive had a blast playing it. But if you dont have any experience with the last 2 games its gonna feel pretty bad one shot one kill so you gonna die a lot if you dont take cover grandes and bombs actually have shrapnel.
Games like these usually have dumb as bricks AI or Godlike AI, this game definitely has the latter in terms of shooting skills. I've found there's approximately a 200-250 meter killzone radius where the enemy AI will INSTANTLY know where you are regardless of foliage and cover in the way and accurately light you up. It sucks but since its a single person developer it's understandable the AI isn't very complicated.
That's not true, The AI in that game cannot see you through bushes, Plus they don't have accurate shooting, they mostly suppress you, when you get killed it's because you have to take cover, Plus don't forget about airplanes, They target you if you were a squad leader.
@@Russell970 Mmmph their Iine of sight is inconsistent at best, I've charged a group of Italian NPCs in a village without them even turning abound. Maybe the GodAI turns off once you close the 10m gap
