Totally matches my journey, after 24 years of no lessons (in hindsight not smart, I just assumed that back in 1998 every golf teacher used the same universally adopted method, LOL) floating around hcp 17, my eyes were opened in a proper club fitting last year. Now adopting stack & tilt, but realize now with the help of this video that 24 years of intuitive roll release have made my downswing rotation a bit lazy (I cannot exit my handle to the left to fade the ball for the love of god) and I also hardly use ground force. Love your take on the golf swing. +1 subscriber. I don't care much on the clubhead speed aspect, but shots just come out just more predictable - not relying on the fickle timing aspect of the roll.

As to whether this body rotation/passive hands tip increased my clubhead speed, I don't know. But it really made a huge difference in my ball flight and direction, especially with my driver. I was tending to fade, cut or slice most of my drives, even though I have my driver set up for a draw bias. Using what's in this video, I'm still tending to fade but it has cut way down on my right-hand ball flight. I'm hitting a lot more balls dead straight and where I'm aiming. On top of that, this also fixed my weight shift problem (I was tending to reverse pivot before). I'm keying on the body rotation through the downswing and everything else just follows. You picked up a new subscriber. Thank you!

I always thought the so called flash release was slower. Thanks for showing me why.

The hard release looks like Rick Shields!!! lol

Interesting comparison. What about a fade shot? You need stronger hands to control the shot ? Hard to do it with passive hands on my side

Interestingly, passive hands is my feel for fade. Tighter grip tend to close the face for me and I just try to lead with the left shoulder for that left path

All you need is the club face to open to the club path to hit a fade. This can be achieved with either release

I see you are on skillest app. I’ve used 2 coaches on there & then finally went for in person lessons.
2 online coaches never identified that I needed more foot flair, a pre shot routine, grip change & shoulder tilt to make meaningful changes to my game.
How do you get the best from online lessons?

Striving for a passive release absolutely
