Well Ana, it looks like we're all getting a bit warm this week. We're at 95° today with a heat index of 100°. We have the index cause of the humidity. Feels like tropical heat!!! Have been working in the park the last two days. By the middle of the day I have to change and get into dry clothes. Very humid!!! My rainbow bursts lobivopsis flower look like yours, kinda wilted. I re built a rock garden cactus bed and had to take a break several times after hauling wheelbarrow loads of sand ,soil & gravel!!! Hopefully we get a break! My opuntias are still blooming well , but slowing down. I have to agree with you, mammillaria bocasana has been my longest bloomer also, both regular & rosaflora!!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!! Hi Ana, really beautiful blooms and cacti, once again enjoyed your video, many thanks for sharing! Really intersting also to see how your plants and flowers are holding up still real well at these relatively high temperatures. Btw, most of central Europe, where I live, is currently also experiencing a scorching heat wave ...I had 37 degrees C (99 F) in the shade in the garden today and in the greenhouse the plants were experiencing temps well into the 40s C ...and they were also holding up pretty well - I think that as long as we are providing some shade and do not expose them to the full direct sunshine they will be doing fine. I live in Phoenix and I love your channel! Fantastic! So many other channels come from California or other places that are not as hot and dry as Las Vegas and Phoenix! You cactus bloom so much! I am going to try to take care of mine more like yours. Of course I am so afraid to water a lot in the high temps at day or night. I have rotted many plants! Right now we have temps for 2 weeks of 110º or more and nights not going below 90º. It is SO hard on all the desert plants! Keep up your great work! It is so needed on UA-cam and Facebook!

Hello Ana we’re in a heat spell this week, heat index is 110, so early this morning I watered my tomatoe plants, just starting to get little green balls. Most of my cactus is out underneath the patio umbrella. The hot sun will scorch or bleach out the deep green color. I wish they would flower, most going on 3 years old. Unfortunately I don’t know the plant’s name, I also watch Lyne from the Emerald Isle, learned from her some names as she has same cacti as me. We’re not use to the high humidity here in Indiana, feels like Florida 😅 but I love it, helps my arthritis be less painful. Thanks for showing your lovely flower cactus. I need one of those gardening tool organizer’s.

Gosh its so hot there, here it's supposed to be hot next week, expecting 45-50c in my greenhouse (113-122f), I think it will be about 30-35c (86-95f) outside though aha
I had a single golden torch flower bloom this week at my home in Phoenix. It withered quickly in the 110 degree heat quickly, but it was absolutely beautiful while it lasted.
My rebutia are MVP and just keep blooming however!
@cactus caffeine hi, just found you. When I was a little girl my gran gave me a cactus book and tried to encourage me to grow them in my bedroom. I had about twenty small cacti for several years but I think my mum got fed up with them and they gradually disappeared lol. About 5 years ago in my local supermarket they had a reasonable sized cactus - i said it was a 5 or 6 inch pot, it was in flower, the main plant had 2 little plants plus 2 very small balls of spikes. I bought it for my bathroom window which gets afternoon and evening sun. 2 years ago I was checking it and as I moved the pot around the parent plant suddenly exploded. So I removed her and allowed her offspring to callus. I really didn’t know what I was doing. I planted 2of the 3 large baby plants( i regret not planting the third) and i placed the 2 balls of spikes on the surface. These 2 plants have bloomed each year and are in bloom currently. However they are trying to lay down which means they will squash the 2 small plants still slowly growing. One of the larger plants has a baby growing on its side. So, what should I do? Should I try to re-pot? They are still in the original pot and soil as i didn’t have suitable soil at the time of saving them. They have had a weak fertilizer every now and then. Wish i could send a photo to get advice… my other query is do cacti seeds have to have special treatment before planting? Like for example some seeds need extreme cold or some need to be in hot water. Take care

I’m in Oklahoma and we’ve been under a heat advisory for the last few days. Step outside for 30 seconds and the humidity has you sweating all over. I’m worried about my cactus that are in my greenhouse. It’s 10-20 degrees hotter in the greenhouse VS outside and it’s already 100 outside with high humidity. 🔥 so hot!
Yikes! 100F with high humidity is so uncomfortable for humans. But that humidity will actually help your plants during this heat. Do you have fans in your greenhouse? Good luck! Stay cool. 🙂🌵

Wow I've never experience temperatures that high. Have you ever watered just the flowering cacti a bit extra or tend to water them all at once? I'm sure that having access to water would allow some of the flower to remain open a bit longer. Not sure if you have water restrictions there in Nevada
Since I have a lot of pots, I water them all at the same time. But I make sure the ones that are in bud gets a good drink. This will prevent it from dropping its buds.

Last night we were still at 95F at 10pm. Very early in the morning, before sunrise, we would go down to mid 80’s. As soon as the sun shines, up, up and away goes the temps. 😂🥵
Yaa it’s so heat and here in India since march and kept in increasing and now temp is unbearable 112f since may every single day and not able to enjoy any flower this summer
Oh, I didn’t know India reaches over 110F as well! That is hot. 🥵 Yeah, flowers at this time only lasts a few hours.

@cactus caffeine hi, I was wonder have you heard of clamping a cacti? I watched a video yesterday and I thought it was a little cruel to the plant, basically, you damage the growing core of the cacti to make it feel it is under attack, so it grows pups. Bit extreme.
Many growers now force some cactus to form clumps. This is done by damaging the top or the growing point of the cactus to force it to form side offsets instead of growing a single cactus. I have not tried clumps but I’ve tried hot nailing. 🙂 My video with Rob Roy showed that.

I’m planning to use grow lights for my cactus plants, but I’m worried because the cactuses that I grow like to fully open during the hottest part of the day (our summers are relatively cool compared the the rest of the U.S.) do you ever manage to get cactuses to bloom under grow lights or is it really just the heat that makes them open? The varieties are echinocereus reichenbachii var. perbellus and coryphantha scheeri
I have friends who grow cactus indoors under growlights all year round. Some cacti flowers don’t need heat to open like Echinopsis and Trichocereus. You just have to give them a try. 😉

They are under 50% shade cloth. 😊 Maybe you can put a shade cloth on top of them.
