"Finally! A global standard of assistive technology brochure!" - Rejoiced Mai as the gentle breeze made its way through their window paneless lounge/family bedroom, in the comfort of her families furnitureless, 1 bedroom 1 kitchen, tinroof shack. "Just the thought of all those non-binding guidelines is going to make slogging through muddy landslides in my 1st world army surplus indoor wheelchair feel like- - - why it'll like riding in a schoolbus!" she giggles, as her front wheel gets stuck in a cobra pit for the third time in as many weeks. Considering she is riding an adult- sized hospital wheelchair and they can't seem to even afford a closet for their clothes, I'll go ahead and guess that her families material conditions do not seem to be at the level where their main concern is their handicapped daughters daily commute. Maybe once they have a way to keep from being eaten alive by malaria bearing mosquitos that might be an option? This is so tonedeaf that it pains me physically to watch this video.
"In fact, more than 1 billion people need assistive technology, yet only 1 in 10 has access to the technology they need." Surely once the APS26 takes the world by storm, these hurricane defying rugged outdoorsy devices will rain on the poverty stricken children of the world like an assistive monsoon!
well, what the little girl Mai actually needs is an automated, electronic wheel chair, isn't it? but it seems it is way far from what her family can afford.
