- The Rudskogen Motorsenter in Norway is one of the latest venues to join the iRacing service. Released during the 2022 Season 4 build, Rudskogen is one of the included tracks with basic membership. Considering that plus the new shiny factor, it’s likely to get some major use in the coming months.
Enter Dave Cam, who until recently, had put aside his Traxion.GG Track Guides for more fun content like the Pick N’ Mix and more recently, his POV of the Week series. With a new track on the table, Dave is back on the grind to get you all prepared to take on the circuit.
Utilising the Global Mazda MX-5, another piece of included iRacing membership content, Dave is ready to spill all of his tips, tricks, and other knowledge to get you up to a safe pace. This is not about hot laps. It never was, and it never will be. This is Dave’s slow and methodical approach to learning the 14 different corners around the 3.254-kilometer (2.022-miles) track.
Make sure you’re taking notes! Dave has braking points, corner entries, alternate lines for overtaking, pit entrance and exit, and so much more. With this knowledge in hand, coming from first hand experience, you will get faster just by default.
Be sure to also check out all of Dave’s content on the Traxion.GG channel. As already mentioned, not only are there plenty of track guides, but also other fun content to enjoy. Keep it pinned!

This is a perfect guide. Even better than those paid services. First class content! I especially liked the overtaking part.
Glad you liked it!
really good video! thanks for this, motorcenter is probably the trickiest track ive been on this season you really have to get in a flow.
This is great. I couldn't break 1:38 before seeing this, since when I got into the high 1:36's and getting faster, and that's after only 3 laps. Thanks for posting Dave.
Amazing combo. This track was easy to learn, and has great flow. I will give iRacing credit for giving us a track we ask for, but thankful they did. I managed a 135.757 best and "won" the practice session I was in.
Amazing. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Hi Dave, you're the man, great guide.
Much appreciated, Dave - per usual.
The video I have been waiting. Thanks a lot Dave!
Hope you enjoyed it!
This is how lap guides should be. Shame I didn't discover your guides earlier, Dave, but I have only just started with iracing.
Top work Dave, smashing the mx 5 myself the slippery little bugger
Thanks Dave...!
Great vid for this week
just started iracing and been practicing this track. thanks for this guide. mx5 is so hard to drive
great guide as usual thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
big ups dave
Thank you! Did a 1.35,032 after following your guide! Before I had 1.38,6xx! Crazy.
Great stuff! Glad you found it helpful
Thanks, Dave. Managed a 1:34.9, what time did you end up doing?
I only managed to go 1:38.5, crazy that there is still so much room for improvement, I feel if I try to go any faster I will end up in the gutter.
had a 1.37.4 then checked top split, 1.35.3 hahahahah
@@kelanomcfc6326 bruh what. 35? :(
@@toodsf1 legit, how?
@@kelanomcfc6326 don't you just hate it when you watch a lap 2s quicker than yours and you swear it looks identical lmao. Idk man.
I got a 36.9 but can't do it consistently. Gotta grind I guess
when you call for lifting with no brakes, are you doing that for consistency? what is the theory for when to simply lift vs lift and brake
I think you underestimate some of these racers "abilities" to deny that overtake in turn 1 🤣
Amazing guide however! I knew when I saw turn 3 i had to run over here and learn the course! Cheers!
Did they fix the tires yet or is it still like driving on ice?
😊👍
Dave, Have they changed the handling characteristics of the Mazda in the new season? To me it seems to want to change direction on braking much, much more than it did last season. There's another car that seems to have changed also, but I'm an old man and can't remember which one it is at the moment. Thanks for another excellent track guide!
I also wonder if they changed the mazda?
Yes, it's changed a lot. It's a lot snappier and aggressive. Unfortunately, the first 2 laps when the tired aren't warmed up yet, it's close to undrivable.
Played this yesterday. Q5 and made up 2 positions quickly, then, 2 laps in a row I cut T1 too much and got slow down… and the 2nd time I did it and I slowed down the guy behind me who was probably a full second behind, fully rear ended me and I got 4x…. I like the safety rating but man does it suck sometimes haha
You should move out of the racing line when serving the slow down :)
@@okkimakki I did :) :) :)
I'm new to this and have been practicing on this track this past week you said the setup is the baseline can you not run the advanced setup with a change to the roll bars in the official race?
Not in rookies :)
@@simracingsouthaussie9130 lol yea found that out after hours of practice honing the suspension for my style and joined a practice and realized I had to scratch everything and learn to drive it the set way haha thanks for the heads up lol
Very nice guide, I did a 1.39 today. Didn’t try after the guide. What was your time? Couldn’t find that in the guide.
same, I did a 1.39 before this video came out
@Danve @03:00 01.35.82 on dash.
@@meawayfromhome wow thats fast, for so reason I am stuck in the low 1.40s, I hope following this guide gets me more time. I tend to just send it, I need to remember smooth is fast, LOL.
What is the grey line in the telemetry box?
steering angle i think
Man I just can’t get Turn 3 right no matter what
I credit Rudskoken teaching me how to trail brake the MX5 through T3,T4! now just gotta learn where the overtaking opportunities are!
Man this track is going to punish the MX5 tires with the updated temperature model.
Hot track and being too aggressive is going to obliterate tires after 14 turns.
I should start with a thanks for your guides.
You didn't do turn 3 on cold tires! THAT is tricky. Touch the brakes wrong and you are going sideways to the bottom of the hill. I feel like I am in a four wheel slide through the whole corner. In fact in lap one, I use wheel spin going into turn 4 to straighten up..
By lap 2 the tires are warmer but turn in a fraction too soon or trail brake too hard into 3 and you are toast through 3 and 4.
I like to practice first with AI. They are always piled up at the end of turn three on the first lap.
You always make it look easy. 🙄
turn 3 for me is just undoable with cold tyres. I just cant do it
@@ersh2k4 Same, I gave up on iRacing after this patch, because 50% of the races, I crash out in the first lap. Not even pushing, it's just unrealistically slippery.
this track is so bad for this car (baseline). Fast lapping is not that bad, but with traffic, it demands too much from low elo players to control the car, which leads to crashes every lap.
worst track design since COTA
