"ANÚNA : Christus Resurgens" - For Easter Sunday. The Earth is reborn, the light returns to the world. This Irish chant dates from the 12th Century. ANÚNA would like to dedicate this beautiful piece, here arranged by Michael McGlynn, to the memory of all those who died at Easter 1916.
Christus resurgens ex mortuis, jam non moritur, alleluia
Mors illi ultra non dominabitur alleluia
Christ has arisen from the dead and dies no more, alleluia.
Death will no longer have dominion over Him alleluia

I can attest that this is every bit as gorgeous on the 100th listen as on the first.

Spiritually uplifting as always. Your dedication to those who died in the Easter rising is quite fitting. As an Englishman I lament the way our unenlightened forebears tried to suppress the Irish language and culture and rejoice that it survives and is enriched by ensembles such as yours. I thank God we now live in times when we can share and appreciate the cultural heritage of our two islands together. Ireland has suffered much at our hands in times past but largely through the forgiving spirit of your people I believe we now live in friendship and mutual respect. Long may you continue to delight us with you beautiful music.

+Charles Peterson Surely, largely through ths forgiving spirit of the Irish people, but also through the educated, enlightened, or just kind and sensitive spirit of some Englishmen, as you seem to be. And do you see? Music brings peoples closer, it creates friendship, mutual appreciation and respect, while politics creates trouble. Morals: paraphrasing the May '68 motto "make love, not war", let us make music, not politics! Warm greetings from Spain!

Thank You... As An Irish Person, I Feel There's Still Some Resentment Over What You Did To Us..... But I Don't Hate You For It, One Of My Best Friends Is English And She's Lived Over Here Almost 12 Years.... She Loves This Country And The People That We Are... I Wish To Visit Your Beautiful Country Too Someday..... Always Forgive, Never Forget.....

You mean you have never been to Great Britain...? How can you feel any resentment for a country you have never been to?

Charles Peterson you are still running our land,i lost family in the rising and sorry but i hate the stigma sttached to it and the fact the truth is not taught to my children in school.
Michael great as always,a true and fitting tribute for all lost

Latin text (roman Catholic o Western) and English translation
    Alleluia.
    English translation:
Christ, rising again from the dead, dieth now no more. Death shall no more have dominion over him.
For in that he died to sin, he died once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
    Alleluia.
He died for our sins and rose again for our justification,
    who liveth unto God.
    Alleluia.

What I Find about All Aunua Music is the Passion that all All the Singers have When they Sing the Songs, This one Is My Favourite.

Listening to this magnificent performance by Anuna of this Medieval Irish chant, has been an Easter tradition for me. Though I listen to it quite a bit the rest of the year, because it is such a splendid performance. It is sad that such a violent event took place in 1916 on Easter itself, the deaths of so many on a day associated with joy and renewal. Easter became a day of sadness, and a day to commemorate those who lost their lives that day.
The Irish people are a strong and resilient people. My great, great, grandparents, were Irish immigrants to the US. My great, great grandfather arrived in the US at age 19, and settled in Philadelphia. Moved by a speech by President Abraham Lincoln, he enlisted in the US Calvary, fighting for the Union during the Civil War. His bravery during the Gettysburg battle, where he fought in Fairfield Pennsylvania, earned him the Medal of Honor. The George C. Platt Bridge , in southeast Philadelphia, is named for him. He married Eliza Kelly, and worked as a carpenter in shipbuilding, a trade he learned in Ireland.
Anuna doesn't just bring Irish music and culture through their performances, but history too. A history I am making an effort to learn.

+Ian Anderson I agree that it is very odd. Maybe there is as much or as little to this religion as to your own. Either way this isn't a platform for religious debate although your lack of punctuation is tempting.
