Great video 😊 Seems like I picked a great time to niche down, worry less about follower growth and go hard on creating attraction content (reels) that then ladders up to my super-specific freebies that then ladder up to the online community that I'd like to grow. Stars aligning maybe? 🙂 Something interesting actually happened the other day (I'm actively implementing the targeted engagement strategy to find my ideal audience) where somebody downloaded all 3 of my freebies and for one of them they had to go into the online store - seems very high intent on their part and I followed up with them. But also just great to see that somebody landed on my profile, understood what I'm about, felt that connection and went ahead to get my freebies because it's all aligned. So they didn't follow me, but they joined my email list. Way better outcome I think 😊
Hey Linda!! You sure did :) Great timing and the starts are certainly aligning ✨ That's fantastic - the person would have had to really want them all to go out of their way to download all 3 freebies, so it was a great move to reach out to them. Email list > followers for sure! Eventually I'm sure they'll convert to a follower but as you said, the downloads and email list supercede that :) - Craig
Hi, you'll be able to grow it but it's going to be a lot slower than it used to be, just because people's behaviours have changed and folks aren't following like they used to (us included). I'd suggest to set the expectation with your client that follower numbers aren't everything - the metric you should focus on is reach - C
I appreciate your videos, thank you. If I’m in a specific niche should I only follow those in my same niche? These would be my competitors, which doesn’t make sense to me. This is what I’ve heard and want to know the correct answer. It seems that if I only follow and consume content from others in the same niche I’m not reaching my target audience. Should I unfollow those outside of my focus?
So welcome! Typically we'd suggest to follow people in the same niche, over and above competitors - in particular, creators. It's advisable to unfollow folks outside of your niche so that the signals you're giving the algorithm are very much aligned with your category. What's more important is that you engage with content in your niche so that algorithm can feed you more content like that, and in turn share yours to those who do the same - C
Good question. Seems to just be on a post level but I imagine they'll introduce an overall view count at some point, it only makes sense to do that (if they aren't from the beginning - they just never said they were going to do that) - C
This is a great perspective on the new update. Make valuable content and they will come. This supports the '1000 true fans' concept authored by Kevin Kelly

I'm not sure what they use to determine whether comments are from a pod, but they've proactively spoken out against them earlier this year I believe. I just had a very respected professional in publishing say that agents and publishers expect nonfiction writers to have at least 10k followers (social media or email list). Nonfic books (not talking academic, different niche) are sold on author's expertise and cultivation of a potential readership. This is not expected of fiction writers who sell a fictional story, nor of poets (well, it's rare they make much money; they aren't agented; and can easily self-publish). So, yeah, even within the same industry, this is relative. (Also, kindly, volume was a bit low on this video.)
Definitely hear you! We work with speakers and a lot of the time they are asked to meet these follower number conditions - we do feel brands should prioritize the engagement of community overall as 10K is an arbitrary number that was carried over from when you needed 10K followers to do a swipe up back in the day. They really should be considering the % of engagement and reach, and then when it comes to a newsletter, open rate would be more important than the subscribers (e.g. a 10K subscriber list with 10% open rate is not as valuable as a 5K subscriber list with 80%) but surface level metrics still prevail in many industries. Also noted on the volume. :) Appreciate you sharing your perspective! - T

THEY KEPP UPDATING EVERYTHING BUT REFUSES TO PAY THEIR CREATORS.
They do, there's a whole monetization program! - C
@@Highseasoncothey do, but it seems very exclusive. I have a few videos that have done very well in terms of plays/views (over a million) - but I have under 2K followers. It will take me years at this point to be able to make money from IG and their program
What is the value of an IG Broadcast Channel? I know nothing.
Hi! It's a way for you to push out information to key followers who actually care about your message - C
@@Highseasonco thank you
Since followers aren't as important now, is there any need to boost your reels?
Hi Kim, for sure. Boosting gets more eyeballs on your posts and that's really what you're after - C
@@Highseasonco Ok, thank you for replying!! You guys are so helpful!
I wish they will take followers away. So nobody have more or less then the next person.
And brands would want to work with you based on how good your content is
Sounds like a utopia :) - C
Im going to be honest, Instagram died way back in 2019
Social media as a whole actually
It’s a fair perspective, it’s changed a lot, and we don’t know where the trajectory is headed but right now people are still thriving on the app, just not as easily as before. - T
I think community is super important!! 🎉 I use IG for that more than sharing memes & sharing content
I don’t actually like TikTok anymore and came back to focus on Instagram. It works for some people but for some people TikTok is not the best . I don’t even use it anymore.
@orendjohnsonjr I don't think k it has. It's been growing increasingly every year since then. Still have seen growth in 2024, and it's not over yet either.
They removed the "recents" in search like last year and not bringing it back so they can force people to pay to get their content in the top views 😂 I miss searching for things and view recent, now your stuck seeing the same thing all the time 😂
Hi! Interesting - on a bunch of accounts I'm logged into, the Recents section is there in Search. Perhaps they're just testing it with a few accounts for now and will determine if they'll keep it. Hopefully not! - C
Hello team....I am going to subscribe to manychat...is there a way to give you credit for my subscription?
Hey Jason! Really appreciate you specifically asking how to give us a credit, you can use this link + code "HIGHSEASON" for a free trial of PRO: manychat.com/product/instagram?HIGHSEASON let us know if you have any questions. - T
@@Highseasonco thank you. I used your link to subscribe to ManyChat Pro. Hopefully you get credit. I appreciate your work.
My feed looks very weird after the update.. can you help me? 😢 I have to remove my content now
Did it change to vertical? They're testing that currently, we don't love it as most feeds weren't built for that, so hopefully they switch it back - C
@@Highseasonco yeah they did.. but only on my work account, my personal one is still the same as always. Do you maybe know if I can turn it back to the old one?
@@chevernybril6354 Ah gotcha. So I saw recently that IG publicly stated that they're testing a 4:5 vertical feed. There's no way to switch it back but I haven't seen anybody who is happy with it lol. I can't imagine they'd keep it, none of our (meaning everybody) content was made to appear in the grid at that size so all they're doing is messing things up. Fingers crossed it'll go back soon! - C
@@Highseasonco Lets hope so thank you!!
You guys are so sweet. Can we work on a Iron sponsorship for you guys because baby daddies shirt is giving college stoner 💨
Omg 🤣🤣🤣 he’s going to love this comment. Appreciate you looking out!! - T
Love your videos, thanks for always sharing your thoughts and insights! I started on January second to take instagram seriously and went from 250 followers to almost 2400 today, what do you guys think?
Thanks for the kind words! That's great, congrats on the growth! Did you have a viral post? - C
One reel had 114k views and a few other ones, maybe 3 or 4 between 10k and 20k…but I’ve been super constant! ☺️
@@Frido1987 Amazing - keep going!!! - C
@@Highseasonco thanks for the inspiration!
hey what about faceless video what that mean and make detail video
Hi! All of these updates apply to every type of content, including faceless - C
@@Highseasonco no i mean that just tell us how to make faceless video on instagram
@@namo-1 Ah gotchu. We can look into that for sure, thanks for the idea - C
Growth isn’t happening anymore because it’s saturated. Everyone tryna grow no one really watching 😵💫.
Definitely part of it! More users = more competition. Part of the game! - C
They do it to control what you watch and listen to. All fun until it's not
Who knows! - C
