Just wanted put a disclaimer:
This was tougher than the game. They highlighted Sam's innocence. The actor who played Sam was so adorable. I sobbed during this episode.
Kathleen pretty much said saving kids was worthless only to be killed by a kid that wasn't saved.
It's wild what this show is putting us through.
I can’t say enough how much Bella is killing it as Ellie. I can’t praise her performance enough when it came to her reaction to Henry’s suicide.
I like how this show really draws out "Okay so which side of history do you think you're on in this scenario? You sure? You really certain?"
Kathleen's quest for vengeance ends up dooming the entire community.
“Was that Jelly and Ellie” 😂. Great reaction video as always. Such a very good emotional devastating episode this was. Poor Sam and Henry. ❤️😭
Yep this one hurt. Part of me was hoping they would change the ending too. But the further it went the more it looked like they were going to stick with the original and it hurt even more. Made worse by the fact Sam looks so much younger here. The fact they made Sam deaf was very interesting as well. The kid actor was actually deaf in real life. Fantastic actor for someone so young.
I think anyone considering thumbnail to be a spoiler should stay away from YT :D I think that "giving the healing blood" was a good enough teaser for hoping that he wouldn't have turned, but of course it had to happen. One of the main shocking points of the game and if they had survived it would have changed the original plot too much. The best apocalyptic story ever shouldn't be changed that much.
The third episode was fantastic. I like to think everyone can grow and learn, but if a homophobe watched the whole third episode and still felt the same afterward, then that person is truly very far from the light.
That gasp from Ellie when Henry did what he did got me. Beautifully directed 🔥
Ellie and Joel switch sides at the end. That was the Tess moment from episode 2. Ellie runs ahead while Joel is still waiting at the grave. Tess gave Joel a mission he wanted to fulfill as her last wish.
The kid actor who played Sam is actually deaf in real life! Such a great heartbreaking performance from him.
Kudos to the creators for heaving deaf character!

This show keeps doing what I genuinely thought was impossible. They’re taking entire chapters of the game and somehow condensing them into hour long episodes and they DON’T FEEL RUSHED! We got the backstory of Henry and Sam, and Sam being deaf was an idea Craig Mazin had that Neil Druckman loved so much that he said that it made him angry (in a good way) he didn’t originally put it in the game. We also saw the tunnel community which is one of my favorite levels in gaming history because it tells an entire story just from looking at your surroundings, plus it was great to see Ellie and Sam just be kids and forget the troubles of the world. And then the scene when Ellie tries to heal Sam was so heartwarming which made the ending even MORE heartbreaking than even in the game. And finally we got to see not just a horde of infected but our first
Kathleen's right hand man (Jeffrey Pierce) who was killed by the Bloater is the actor who plays Tommy in the games too 😀
Henry didn't have to check Sam's age, he was including him fully into the conversation and not a subject of conversation. Henry could've just answered himself--just a small detail that I really appreciated.
