So glad to see you have the car in the wrong setting on the mud/sand. The wheels should not be spinning as the diffs will lock and the breaks would be applied to any spin.
It also just poor driving. You plot your route through the obstacles and drive the car to its ability. Why take the deep ruts when you know the limitations of its ground clearance. Move the car left of right and drive on the higher sections. Just something I picked up with the official Land Rover instructors. No car will do everything work within it capabilities.
I found the gas mileage better than advertised here in California, USA. Maybe the way you drive has a big impact on actual road numbers. After 2,000 miles, I have received an average of 25MPG (don't know your liters/km). I love my Discovery Sport because it drives so much better than the X3 (I have an X5 already). I find the Discovery Sport is more fun than my X5 and now drive that much more daily.
+Pat Shozo Driving style definitely affects fuel consumption. My results are not obtained in a scientific way, though I try to drive every car along similar routes, for similar distance, adhering whenever possible to eco driving principles. This may be a bit difficult in Poland, because Poles seem to have problems reading road signs, and when it says 60 km/h, they drive 80-90 ;) However 25 mpg is considerably better, than what I got (actually close to what LR promises). convert-units.info/fuel-consumption/liters-100-km/12.5 According to this I was getting between 19 mpg US and 22 mpg imperial. That's combined (urban and extra urban). In the US you have city and highway milage. The latter we don't use in Europe, because legal highway speeds are usually well above economic speed for our cars (small engines, and all that).
+Marek Drives do x3 have 7 seats? so compare the x3 with evoque,...not to compare it with disco sport..thats make more sense....this disco is 3 in 1, 1. practicality (space and seat which is family oriented, 2. little bit luxury (brand), 3. little bit offroad...all of this combine into one package with reasonable price...disco is in the place where other competitor not get in...clever for LR
I am sick of these car manufacturers lying, YES LYING about their fuel usage. BMW is about the only manufacturer I have owned that has been even close to their claims.
T Parker True. You might find this report interesting:www.transportenvironment.org/publications/2014-MIND-GAP-REPORT-MANIPULATION-FUEL-ECONOMY-TEST-RESULTS-CARMAKERS%20%20%20%20 By the way, some car manufacturers recognise that the current fuel cycle tests do not represent real life fuel consumption. As far as I remember new fuel consumption tests will be introduced in 2017, and this should make the results more realistic. I wonder, what will be the influence on taxation.
Marek Drives Thanks Marek. Its a disgrace but glad to hear something is being done. I came to this sight because I was looking at buying the new Discovery sport. I think I will pass, I find it hard to purchase from a manufacturer that lies to its customers.
Your "off-road test" is absurd! Any car will be stuck in that way, because no wheel has grip!! The off-road capability of any car must be followed with the minimum of common sense. Is stupid to drive a car, the way you drive.
Yours is the first review I’ve seen where it’s mentioned that you can only have a space saver with the 2 extra seats. Well done.
Nice review. Now i'm off to play my smartboy!

AFAIK ESP is off in offroad mode.

You are showing me the bad reviews, but the land Rover is the excellent
