Beauty procedures are addictive, once the first is done everything follows. Having an ill daughter and finding it hard is not a fault to anyone and nobody’s “dark truth”. Finding it hard to adjust to fame is quite normal since it’s a big change in anyone’s life. Everyone has ex’s they miss and regrets. They missed Lisa and Matthew not because they are perfect, but because they went straight out of the spotlight and dealt with minor roles and attention, they also didn’t feel the need to share their experience and/or didn’t have anyone to force them to share what they didn’t want. These are no dark truths, these are shared thoughts and struggles which everyone would’ve had in their situation and are being used against them and it makes no sense.
What about Phoebs? And especially Matthew Perry! He was struggling with addiction and all during Friends. He even said that there were some parts of the job that he can't even remember acting he was so high/drunk!

It must be hard for them to have to revisit Friends all the time. It must remind them that they're only famous and rich because of that show and basically nothing else they've ever done. They will be Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, Ross and Monica no matter what they do. That, to an actor, means that your job opportunities are going to be restricted to certain roles. It can't be easy for them to be constantly reminded of the glories past and the failures present. Anyway....
Well, the same goes to many actors..... Daniel Radcliffe will always be Potter, Dicaprio Jack from Titanic, for many people they will remember Keanu Reeves as Neo from Matrix or for the others he will be that John Wick killer..... I guess that's why some actors don't try to be famous and are doing a normal job at local theaters or in small budget movies.
