Pastor Tony Evans, I have never been in your church though I grew up in your neighborhood 50 yrs ago. 20 yrs ago I came across your 10 Best sermons of the year. Now I order books and sermons and listen to them over and over. All have sinned. Pressure and stress can be immense in this world and all of us are willing participants in sin. Maybe not sexual but anger, physical or mental abuse to others, etc. I care for you Pastor Evans deeply and most every day I lift you up before our savior. Another favorite pastor of mine is Pastor Robert Morris. Wow, if someone looked me up over last 35 years what would they find in me. Pastors will from these times forward will walk in added pressure to not make an error in judgment. Such pressure is immense. How many 50+ year old pastors are wishing for the finish line. My own pastor is about 65 and I can tell the great pressure he is under these days. God be with our pastors and leaders. May the great evil that is in internet be stopped. It makes the best of us gossipers. I repent of any negative words I have willingly read or wrote.

I watched JONATHAN preach this message and he NEVER ONCE spoke against his dad! He uplifted his father, reminded the church that Tony was there for every one of them during THEIR problems, and he was proud to be standing on the podium to GIVE BACK to his father for all he had done! I don't see Jonathan Evans accusing his father at all here.
I see him explaining something to not only his father, whom he Loves & Admires, but the church members & listeners as a whole. That there are extra struggles for being a person of GOD, man or woman because you are living close To HOLY SPIRIT. You want to please HIM. Jonathan was teaching you don't have to put a front of perfection on all the time. Of course you want to lead by example, but when we struggle at times we may need to express to someone, a confidant or counselor. Don't suffer by yourself because you weren't created to be by yourself.

People should have the same kind of grace and mercy that the Lord has bestowed upon us all. Let's not judge unless we want to be judged. We do not know what his sin is but God knows and will deal with him just as God will deal with us all.

We are called to pray for our enemies so if we are called to pray for our enemies why wouldn't we pray for a believer that is going through? Absolutely NOT! He went against his own father “publicly”, a man who despite his falling into sin he came back and confessed to the world what he had done after he had gotten right with his God! The Pharisees taught the Word of God, but in self-righteousness, not in God’s heart of love and forgiveness!

I am a member of OCBF and the incident you are referring to NEVER happened! I’m there every Sunday and no one stood up and said anything. Pastor Jonathan preaching was taken out of context, listen to the message and you will see don’t believe everyone who is on the media.

I saw and heard Jonathan sermon that Sunday, and he was not rebuking his father, he was preaching a powerful sermon, as a matter of fact he, was thanking his father for allowing him to speak in his place. I even recorded it so I can go back and listen to it again.

If Johnathan is married his only real obligation is to his family not his father! His father was wrong but yes, that should not have been done publicly. Allow Tony a chance to apologize and make it right or move on.

His son did not sound like he criticized his father on that. It just sounded that he and his family was surprised (just like the congregation). So, should we assume that the family, therefore, is not close? What do we care - it sounds like a normal family to me - where information can be received at a later time.

They just want likes to get paid, they don't even have proof about Pastor Evans being mocked. You can't believe what some these people are saying, they just grabbing stuff from other sites and throwing them together.
This goes to show that when God puts you in His church, nobody can remove you but God. If the board puts you there, then the board can remove you. If the people puts you there, then the people can remove you.

Me and my wife stand by you Sir, and what the son did in the pulpit was wrong, simply put.
We all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God!

What am I missing? I haven't heard anyone confess any sins how are you going to forgive something that you know nothing about? Confess your sins to one another and forgive one another another it starts with confess I have heard no confession of anything. Sounds like a politician that wants to keep the corporation going. The young Evans' son may mean well but it is written.."REBUKE NOT AN ELDER". I don't believe that was his place.A little something for the church to consider;this was a sin in the past;not an ongoing sin? Is that sin forgiven or not?Is it under the Blood or not? Except they believe his confession was based on the fear of exposure rather than repentance,I fail to see the reason for some of these extreme reactions. I fear that the body of Christ may lose genuine leaders who love God to this current 'move....I fear that we may replace them with something worse if care is not taken.
There's only ONE person that walked this earth that was perfect.. only ONE. Pastor Evans is a stand up Christian man with Christian values. IF anyone else was perfect on this earth there would have been no need for the cross. But WE are not this includes pastors..... hence repentance forgiveness and salvation. I live in Florida, My father pastored when I was young. The pressure of everyone looking at your family and judging is immense. Instead of taking the beautiful taught word of God from his messenger and hearing the words and wisdom he preaches. People want to stand and judge... shame shame. I listen to Pastor Evans everyday at work and have learned, listened and absorbed the words he preaches and try to live a better life according to scriptures as does he and his family.

Why are so many people expecting pastors to tell their sins? That is not scriptural. The words to only confess your sins to God, not man. You can confess your faults to man, but not sings. Why does word say this? It's because look at what it does to others when you confess your sins. First, you are opening up spirits when you tell sins. You have lost all your trust and respect of the people you confessed to. If he stepped down, then so be it.
Go back and read Gods word, because the Bible clearly says confess your sins to one another. You are misguided, " First, you are opening up spirits when you tell sins.", is wrong, you have already opened yourself to evil spirits when you committ sin. When you open up and confess your sin and you sincerely repent, you are shaking away satans power over you in that area. James 5:16 clearly says, “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” God assures us that while our relationship with him is personal, it's not private.
