I remember watching him on Hee Haw as a kid and having no clue of the monstrous talent he was. I am grateful that UA-cam has enabled me to revisit his work at an age where I can actually appreciate his genius. Thanks for sharing!
That is a bang on comment, and respectful. As a kid, you never realise how good you've got it, or have any idea how to really appreciate something. I listen to all sorts of music, hip hop, rave, rock, classical and general pop music. My ethos is, if they took the time to play the music, I can listen to their effort for 3 minutes, if I like, I'll be back, if not, I'll give someone else a chance.
I've never seen anyone with such an intense look on his face while playing. It's like his mind is directly connected to the guitar and is about to explode.
I first heard this on an old LP in the late sixties. Then I was fortunate to see him perform in the seventies and Malagueña was his curtain call. No one can play this better. Period.
I believe this song separates guitarist into 2 categories, Those that can play at a higher level and those who just can't get there yet. This isn't just a 3 chord melody.
If anyone knows, please explain to me how he threw in distortion there near about the 2/3 mark so clearly and without much effort. He somehow creates distortion with ease and makes it sound clear and pure.
He could have played that on a washboard and made it sound as perfect. He was one of the most talented guitarist that has ever lived. He needed no accompaniment.
@@joyceibanez8207 A washboard, eh? I love him too, but that's a bold claim. I mean, they entered this game in Spanish. Right away I figured they'd probably been playing Malagueña since they were four. lol On the other hand, we are talking about Roy Clark. So, there's that.
@@elizabetholiviaclark "Washboard" merely a figure of speech. Meaning Roy Clark was just that good. But of course you know that. I speak Spanish since birth but unfortunately I can't play guitar. Wonder why? Some how I feel cheated.😢 Your last name, were you by chance related to Roy Clark? 🤔 You and yours be Happy and safe.😊

I was influenced by him as I grew up without realizing it until I was an adult.

It is 2024.
I am 67 years old.
Never seen anyone better.
Not even Willie..

When he got serious, it was incredible to watch. Like watching a piano virtuoso go to work.
One of the great guitar players ever. RIP Roy!
He had more talent in his little finger, than I have in my entire body! RIP Roy,never missed an episode of Hee Haw.❤
.
Malagueña played by a cowboy. Roy Clark is a genius. My respects.
I don't know how many times I've watched this video, It just gets more and more (betterer)!!!
Absolutely 1 of the best guitarists of all time
I first heard this on an old LP in the late sixties. Then I was fortunate to see him perform in the seventies and Malagueña was his curtain call. No one can play this better. Period.
I think the flamenco players doing this on a classical guitar are great in their own way. Not better or worse, but different.
Amazing work from Roy! Loving his playing!
1:35 is the first of my favorite parts while 2:30 & 2:37 are the last couple of my favorites.
This gets bettered and bettered everytime I hear it!
There was no other!
Absolutely incredible! Roy Clark actuality broke a string during this performance and managed to complete it as if nothing happened.
Roy was totally it with his love of music! And he looked like a little boy who was always in mischief!
Just an incredible talent and man.
God bless all here.
I met him many times with my dad and I still play it 🤣 since I have been 8 from Hedgesville wv
I ❤❤❤ THIS TUNE!!!!
What a player.
I could watch this for hours on a loop.
God's Blessing.
Even with a broken string he's great
always love Roy playing guitar!!
Thank Roy !
Thanks Gary Uncle Joe and the Band
The all around Best

This always impresses me 😊
I think he's serious here. One of the very best ever.
Peace, Love!!
I still record Hee Haw and of all the stars that are on it....there was never Any that could do as well as Roy!
Still as awesome as last time I saw it.
BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO 👏
Wow!!!! That's how you play a drum kit. Just hit the hell out of it and hope for a noise.
I like Roy. His guitar (here) is the badest guitar worldwide...His name : OVATION !
That was BRUTAL!!!!
The Florence of the guitar. Watch his lips as he plays.
Brilliant player, brilliant man.

Great talent
4:26 epic absolutely EPIC
He broke a string there at the end
FAN FECKIN TASTIC.
The broken string didn’t bother him on lick.
He can play any style on any stringed instrument.
Still had 11 more.
If you didn't see it, you would never have known it.
FAN FECKING TASTIC!!!
He looked like my first husband. In fact, they could have been twins.
Not even surprised that string broke.
It was trying to escape!
Not many people play this on a six string.
and on a 12 string it sounds incredible.
Why does it look like he has a broken guitar string lose and flopping around?
He broke the string.
Ah, that's what I thought too. Hard to understand how he made it sound so great with a broken string.

Si la hubiera tocado con una guitarra española el sonido no se distorsiona tanto, ah y acompañado de LA TUNA.
