  • (Don't miss the ending of this manic instrumental titled "Fiddle Hell"!) Roy Clark was and will always be The Superpicker! From the BringBackMyYesterday channel. This instrumental piece is actually named "Fiddle Hell", we didn't make up the title! :-)

I absolutely genuinely LOVE this. I everyone appreciated this music as much as I do, there would be no war in the world. Everybody would be busy learning to play the fiddle.

Saw him in Las Vegas on pure chance as when checking in, I asked the reservation lady if she had any coupons or promos. She smiled and replied "glad you asked" and promptly handed me and gf 2 tickets to see Roy and company. Wow, what a artist!! Later that evening we saw him posing with fans getting photos and signing autographs. This man was a true professional who loved his audience.

Not only did Roy master many instruments and was known primarily as a country musician , he could in fact play any genre of music on them at the highest level. A true virtuoso musician, and humble to boot. He is missed.

Roy had that genuine humbleness that is so rare today. But it was there in people like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton and a few others. They mastered their craft and never forgot where they came from!

I was once asked who I thought was a good guitarist and musician who could play different instruments. They were shocked when I said Roy Clark. I'm a rock n roll guy. But Roy was too talented to ignore. Even if you didn't like country you had to admire his work and musical wizardry. RIP Roy.

Roy, I'm going to miss you my friend. Vernon and I have.talked about you. There is no one that can play a stringed instrument like you. I hope that one day the Lord will allow us to play "Look Out Below" together. I look forward to the opportunity! God is truly a fan of Country Music!! May God bless and keep you my friend!!!

As far as I know he was strictly a strings man. I've seen him play the harp but not the slide guitar(?). Think he said he just felt awkward with the fingering cause his fingers were too big for it. As for all the other four and twelve stringed instruments I'm sure he could play them since he's use to playing them. The rest is music theory which he knows extremely well.

The lone weekend that Roy performed at the Valley Forge Music Fair, way back in the early 1980's (I was an audio engineer under contract to them), I had Air National Guard duty, and wound up in the Azores for three weeks. Upon my return, I was informed that he performed a 45-minute sound check, with eight different instruments, and purchased lunch for the entire stage and sound crew. At the conclusion of the concert, he pointed towards the master control area, and thanked them for helping the performers sound so good. My favorite guitarist of all time, and my inspiration for learning the 12-string.
Thank you, Mr. Clark, for I spent hours on end trying to learn your style, and enjoying every minute of it!

Its kind of funny, but in my old age, I have become a fan of country music, especially the great virtuoso, Roy Clark who was a happy-go-lucky force of nature. While I do not play country music per-se, I have come to realize that country has always been an element of my style. Better late than never!!!
