Since I installed the two recent updates I've been amazed at the increased performance. I thought I'd totally cleaned out my lawn with the Nox 800 but the Simplex is now finding new stuff. I used to use field mode constantly but from now on its Park 1 all the way.
How is this detector doing WAY better than your tests with the red bucket?!? In the video with the SP24 coil, it wouldn't even read an iron nail at 6-7" deep. This video is what prompted me to purchase a Simplex (already had an AT Max and wanted to compare), but I'm finding the AT Max find items SO much deeper than the Simplex... although I love the design and sounds of the Simplex so much more.

Now that's one deep detecting bit of graer I have been doing it 2 years just over tested every ace range from 150 to what iam useing now the 400i with tourndo coil I have been saveing for the new apex witch video will be out for it 15 may ..I have used lots of different coils but te you what that metal detector is well good brother will be keeping one open on that one you use it seems to be so sensitive and pick s up so well thanks Aaron brother
I'd be wary of doing that. I updated mine from 2.68, the version that came with the detector when I bought it, to 2.76 and then to 2.77. I can tell a big difference. The 2.76 and 2.77 versions tones just aren't the same. They seem scratchy, weaker and not as solid. The pinpointer is also not working the same. If yours is 2.68, I'd suggest you keep it at that. I want to change back but Im having no luck. The only good thing about the update is the mute function, but I could go without it. I don't even use the park 1 mode. And others I have heard from are having the same issues.

The only 2 faults I can find with this machine is 1. The shaft flexes too much for my liking. (Might can fix?) 2. The proprietary wireless headphones. I know the Garrett ones will work, but they're even more expensive. Had I known that the machine wouldn't pair with my headphones, I would have still bought it but I would have got the package with the headphones. I am open to any headphone suggestions.

I can only get about 8 inches in the garden with mine, with copper pennies or silver soverign. Im on 2.76 so will update and see what happens
