    What a great, versatile petticoat. I’ve never seen a ruffle made with cord, what a brilliant idea. Three gorgeous looks and one petticoat. Bravo!

    I’ve zigzagged or serged over cord to make longer ruffles for years as I can’t seem to pull threads without breaking. Your method looks so much neater and smoother though! Definitely adding to my bag of tricks!

    Making that ruffle with the cord amazed me. I'm now wondering if the 'smashed ruffle' is done the same way, but with a cord run through both the top and bottom seams of the ruffle. Hmmmm.
    Some very handy info, here. (Crossing strap low so they don't show at the neck line. So obvious and I never would have thought of that!) Thank you for the video!

    This will definitely be useful for making the skirt of a fashion plate I saw in which the hem was padded and the bodice goes over it with tabs extending past the waistline, similar to some dresses between the 1820s and 30s

    Wow what an awesome project! Thank you very much for putting this video together and sharing it :)
    I love the colour of the silk and how well it works with all three outfits.
    I am super excited to try your ruffling method because it looks like a fantastic alternative to using ye olde two rows of gathering threads, one of which will usually insist on snapping! Is that a technique they would have used in the period too?

    The cord is such a neat trick, never seen that before. I guess you can't really see the machine stitches with the fabric being ruffled, right?

    • @DamesalaMode
      @DamesalaMode  2 роки тому +1

      No, they really disappear thanks to the gathering! If you had a really fine fabric it may be better to do it by hand, but I probably wouldn't bother then, either 😉
