It´s super awesome to see Dennis playing songs that would later be attributed to Adrian Smith, such as Killers, Another Life, Drifter, Wrathchild and Ides Of March!! Awesomeeeee
Agree, I always felt Bruce should never ever sing these songs, I don't mean that in a negative way, it just never sounded right at all to me. Also, boy the British kids were so lucky, I couldn't even imagine being alive at 16 or so going to a Maiden gig then, wow!
I bought this on cassette many years ago. One of my favorite aspects of this show is that Dennis Stratton is playing songs that appear on the second album. He, of course, does not. However, the best aspect of this show, is that even at this early stage, the fans were already singing along with the first album songs. Not many bands can generate that kind of dedication so early in their careers. Up the irons!
@@vbassone Dennis is touring (2020/2021) with our tribute band named Maiden Division. He told me that, actually, some of the songs from the upcoming album he've already learned, but he never got in studio for the recording session.
All of the songs off of Killers (except Murders In The Rue Morgue and Prodigal Son) were already written and most were performed live before Maiden recorded their debut album in Dec.1979-Jan.1980
Sadly, Prodigal son was never performed live. It's such a great song and would have worked very well live. On another note, during the sessions for the Metal For Muthas compilation (recordes in Nov.1979 with Tony Parsons as second guitarist and Doug Sampson as drummer) three songs were recorded: Sanctuary and Wrathchild, which made it to the record, and a third song, Burning Ambition, which became the b-side to their first single, Running Free. Burning Ambiton and Invasion were the only two original Maiden songs that were not released on any pressing of the two studio albums fronted by Paul di'Anno. Some people who went to their early club shows with Dennis Wilcock on vocals swear their repertoir featured many original songs that were never recorded, and which seem to have been discarded when di'Anno joined in mid 1978, probably because Wilcock would not allow the band to continue using songs with lyrics penned by him.
yes, maybe MOST, but not ALL. There were a few songs that got written by Steve Harris which appeared on Killers AFTER Adrian Smith had already joined, and they did NOT play at least 3-4 songs that appeared on Killers live BEFORE the actual Killers tour in 1981.
Eli Malinsky you seem like the person to ask - was Burning Ambition ever done live and is there any recording of it? Also, what’s your favorite live boot of early Maiden with Paul? Been trying to find some I may not have heard.
awesome live kick ass live bootleg album, from iron maiden. at the rainbow theatre london england, friday june 20th 1980. this rocks and paul di anno was the singer here the 3rd iron maiden singer. this rocks what a live performance the feels are insane. and the biggest new wave of british heavy metal band. #nwobhmforever

Good job! Greetings from Poland. I lived behind "iron curtain", but at 1981 I had heard of Iron Maiden music from governmental communist radio. IM reached everywere!!!
Maiden @110% percent live absolutely raw metal that is lifting the amplifiers and the bass drums and cymbals are firing for sure and Paul Dianno lifting the roof with all guitars in the air Thank you Steve the chief 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🙋🙋
10:59 this is crazy…. I heard this when I was 12y… I have 25 now… best band ever. The first two albums were the best ones! Nothing equal! Ty for the upload. This is a gem!
No problem, :D ! Yeah probably, these are songs that they had already composed in their first album era and they modified them a bit for Killers album.
thanks uploader! awesome! by the way i never heard these lyrics from Killers and the ides of march without guitar solo, maybe it just didnt have one yet at the time..
I laugh at how every source labels this as a soundboard recording when it's very clearly a decent quality audience recording, given how clearly you can hear the crowd at times. Still probably the best early Maiden boot from before Adrian's addition in place of Stratton in October of '80
Brilliant! Thanks for the upload! I have been looking for bootlegs from this tour. Do you mind if I use some of the songs on my channel? I will credit you :)
@MaceIII I also thought it, but you can listen audience getting crazy at the end of the song (like as the band goes in the stage 1:05 ) and even the overall sound at 1:20 becomes more powerful (you can hear one guitar fading in (the same that starts Sanctuary), like turning up his volume to create a decent mix from the intro. Anyway, even if it's not played live, it's still a raw recorded version of The Ides of March (with Dennis Stratton!!), so that sounds also pretty interesting :)
33:20 you can listen to something very close to Where Eagles Dare .... Clive Burr was AWESOME. I believe he would have made Maiden much better than it is! Nicko drumming is boring....
personally, i think maiden was at their best with di anno and burr, including stratton. those three were the item that really contributed to their early greatness. dickinson was great, but i think maiden and di anno fit together big time, the real maiden.
Paul Di' Anno and Dennis Straton at their best...and Dave, and Clive amazing...all the band at their finest time...this is a jewel...
It´s super awesome to see Dennis playing songs that would later be attributed to Adrian Smith, such as Killers, Another Life, Drifter, Wrathchild and Ides Of March!! Awesomeeeee
@@Leatherjacks awesome...lol...
Dianno years are fantastic! Iron maiden debut album and Kilers are Masterpieces!
Clive burr... R.I.P.
God I prefer this version of the band with Paul DiAnno on vocals so so much more than any other version of the band they were just perfection to me

This version of Killers kicks ass. Listen to Clive at the start of the bridge. Unbelievable

Electric, roar metal. Di`Anno was the man, back then. My favorite Maiden singer.
Yes, Di'Anno was definitely the best Maiden vocalist and frontman.
Those first two albums will always be their best. Long live the prodigal son. ✌
Their energy just cannot be replicated, kickass albums
This is the Motorhead version of maiden! Dianno rules
this is gold.
.......treasure........
. priceless.
Paul Di anno Very true Vocals on the Iron Maiden the Best Classic on heavy metal
Paul's accent is great
After 40 years I can listen to this again the first I was there saw iron maiden 4 times that year
Cool. An actual live version of "The Ides of March" not a pre-recorded intro. Very rare.
OMG, the drumming of Clive on idles of march is out of this world
Clive Burr to Nicko McBrain is one of the biggest downgrades in metal history.
@@JoeyArmstrong2800será muy técnico Nicko McBrain, pero sinceramente era mucho mejor baterista Clive Burr qué McBrain...
