Bernie's door never opened. Caspar knew it was a waste of time. Caspar refused to wake Petra due to still being scared of her. Lindhardt never woke up no matter what Caspar did. He's used to it by now. Dorothea threw a book at him and he woke up to catch and examine the book.
Ashe probably doesn't even remember he did that by the time he wakes up and spends the rest of the day trying to figure out why Sylvain is so scarred of him.
Do people forget that Ashe was literally a criminal for a few years and stole to feed his siblings? Hell one of his built in skills lets him unlock stuff without a key and I’m fairly certain his family does not have any lock smiths in it. Kinda only one reason to have it outside of that…
If you think about it he didn't fall asleep while reading. Being from the streets you have to protect your precious items from being stolen the most effective way to do so is to hold onto your items while sleeping. If anything ashe is protecting his book from getting stolen from him.
