    UConn football won 2 championships in 10 years in the Big East power conference. They drew 40K. 25+ million people in their TV market from NYC to Boston.

    UConn wants to play football in Big 12 immediately...it is the Big 12 that wants to delay football entry

    I think u guys r missing the football angle. UCONN wants to move all sports because the BIG12 makes more money & football independence is unviable for them. The BIG12 schools haven’t wanted them in the past because they don’t think basketball is profitable enough to help them much & the football team will water down the conference. UCONN has responded by offering to just bring basketball & Olympic sports in the short term & invest some of their extra BIG12 money into football which will eventually make them competitive enough for BIG12 play. They suggested this would be around 2031. The fear is that UCONN will just siphon BIG12 football money for the basketball program that won’t add much money to the conference but they’re promising they’ll invest in both

    "If the premier program you are after doesn't even want to play one of the sports in your conference."
    What? The whole reason UConn went to the AAC was for football. If UConn football is in the Big 12, they will be respectable in five years.

    I suspect greater media rights value in next decade for hoops in general. With revenue sharing and NIL you will find better NBA talent, including European talent, playing, and staying in college basketball longer. This will increase viewership as more generational type talent ops for college hoops rather than G league or euro. Plus, there’s been a huge uptick in women’s basketball by viewership. I think this is a brilliant move by Brett Yormark. Get into the New York/New England markets, solidify the conference as the SEC of college basketball, and get the most amount of money than any other conference for a decoupled, basketball deal, and UConn FB won’t move needle (won’t hurt or help in the long run) either way as prolly not gonna decrease the overall conference value but will ad value in hoops and market. Plus this opens up the door to other Northeast teams from the ACC like Louisville, Pitt Syracuse, etc. Yormark is a visionary and people have to give him the benefit of the doubt given he single-handedly resurrected the conference from ashes. Sit on your hands like former PAC commissioner George Kleokoff (and soon to be former ACC commission Sankey) and your conference is devalued or gone. The only conferences that can rest on their laurels right now would be the SEC and the Big Ten.

    You dudes have to be kidding. UConn in the Big 12 would be so far ahead of the Big 10 and SEC in basketball that it would be embarrassing. Really...... those 2 conferences haven't won an NCAA title sense the 90s or something. What are y'all even talking about?

    There has to be a supermajority of 16 members which means 12 Presidents/Chancelors must agree to admit. This is far from being decided, I don't think UConn has the votes.

      Who's 1? The SEC may have better football. But the Big 10 is a far superior brand with the #1 rivalry in all of college sports. So is the Big 10 #1, or the SEC?

      @@lorenzohaynes3886 SEC is number one and it’s not close. The only thing you can say the Big 10 has an advantage in is one rivalry.

    • @lorenzohaynes3886
      @lorenzohaynes3886 17 днів тому

      @Jmay51 The Big 10 has a better product by a mile as far as conference brands go. They make more money, have better contracts, far better brands, far better academics. And they do it without ESPN hype. The SEC couldn't ever do what the Big 10 does. The SEC is on a hell of a run. The Big 10 has been better and will remain better. CFP titles or not. Not even Texas could put the SEC on par with what the Big 10 is now.

      @@lorenzohaynes3886 what’s the margin of national championships in the revenue generating sports (Men’s basketball and Football)?

    • @lorenzohaynes3886
      @lorenzohaynes3886 17 днів тому

      @Jmay51 You can't be serious, right? Either that or you can't be talking all-time. Even though neither has been worth a crap in Men's basketball, this mellinium. The Big 10 current brands are far superior to the SEC. What, the SEC has Kentucky and a title by Arkansas...... Who else has even 1? Meanwhile really look at the Big 10 brands. Maryland, UCLA, Indiana. Michigan doesn't even have a title in basketball and is worth more than any brand in basketball in the SEC, including Arkansas. And historically, Big 10 football has more national titles than the SEC. Don't let the Saban run fool you. Even Minnesota has about 6 national titles and a 3peat. Washington has a title. Penn State, Ohio State, USC, Michigan, UCLA. Rutgers was the first school to play college football or something. Are you trolling? You SEC fans have no clue how far ahead the Big 10 is. And it's funny. The SEC partnered up with the Big 10 thinking they're screwing everybody. When all they did was ensure a bigger, better brand conference finally got a leveled playing field. Instead of continuing to get half the playoff field to the SEC and the other conferences, fight over a few spots. The SEC may clearly be better than the ACC and Big 12. But they're definitely in the rearview of the Big 10 in every metric.
