The disrespect for NFL receivers is crazy. It’s not just about being athletic and fast. You have to know how to get out of breaks and not be stiff, you have to know how to beat press, know where to sit down in zone coverage, have late hands, track the football. People don’t realize how good NFL corners are and how hard it is to run good routes.

    • @ceejordan9649

The main thing is actually getting off the line. That shit takes years to master, there are WR's who have been playing football their entire life and still have to work on releasing. I don't think these basketball players realize that an NFL CB is literally one of the best athletes on the planet. They are asked to run backwards as fast as a guy running forward at full speed.

@josephtanner3929 The crazy thing is that people can simply look at what happens to actual NFL players when they miss extended time. Martavious Bryant is a perfect example. Big tall WR running 4.3. The dude had elite physical gifts. He didn't get injured. He got suspended for 5 years. He came back last season, spent a year on the practice squad, got cut twice, and now he is looking for another opportunity somewhere else. Football is a sport that u have to play on a regular basis to get good at it. If you take 2 years off, your skills will diminish. Now imagine not playing since high school, thinking you can go try out and win a spot over other Elite athletes who never stopped playing.

I kinda agree with Austin. Just not on the quantity, maybe like 5 NBA players. First person that came to mind was Zion Williamson, then maybe Aaron Gordon or Anthony Edwards. A prime LeBron for sure, but like LeBron's living proof of human evolution so that goes without saying! The fact that Antonio Gates a college basketball player made it to the NFL without ever playing college football. I can't think of a case where the opposite's ever happened; a college football player with no college basketball making it to the NBA.

LeBron James who was timed at 4.60 in the 40 yard dash at age 28 would be a fantastic TE. Ja Morant with his leaping ability and speed would be a great WR or CB. There are many NBA players that could athletically play in the NFL. It would take some time to get accustomed to the physicality and at least some NBA players would be able to get accustomed to the physicality and some would quit. It would be easier for NBA players to get accustomed to the physicality of the NFL than it would be for NFL players to develop their skills for the NBA.

40 times are worthless unless they are official laser times. Im skeptical of that 4.6 at age 28 years old. That time he ran came from himself and we know Lebron lies a lot to boost his PR. It means nothing.
With all that said, I agree with you on it being an easier transition for any athlete to go into football then it is for another sport. Football has too many positions that require a few selected skills, while other sports you need to be more well rounded.

Why do people keep bringing up NBA players flopping? They’re not doing that because they’re soft, they’re doing that to get a favorable call from the ref in order to help their team. Good lord I didn’t think I’d have to explain this to grown ups.

i think both sides wouldn’t be able to last strictly because both sports make your body structure change. NBA players’ bodies have never been hit by a NFL defender, and NFL bodies have never been forced to cut/explode on a dime the amount of times NBA players are. I think people largely underestimate the effect that playing a sports since you were kid has on your adult body and what it can withstand. As an ex cfb player, i’ve seen new high school recruits have to medically retire due to the physicality of the college game and they’ve played their entire life, just hit a brick wall.

Jimmy Graham played college Basketball for the University of Miami and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints!! He became one of the NFL'S best TE'S during his time with the Saints. Antonio Gonzalez and Antonio Gates also played Basketball. But what I will say is those guys were exceptions to the rule. Although you may find a few on one hand that could play in the NFL, your not going to get 30 that can or want to play. A lot of These NFL WR'S and TE'S have played basketball before to some degree. So it's not impossible by any means. A lot of these guys have played in multiple sports as kids. From Track and Field, to Baseball, Basketball, Soccer.

College and high school you start at the 3. Those are just the rules. Some of the positions change dramatically from college to NFL. Like running back, tight ends, and linebackers, to name a few.
