  • In this video I take a look at the classic TV series I Dream of Jeannie and it's goofs, bloopers, and amazing facts that you won't believe! As usual, some of these goofs from I Dream of Jeannie will point toward how the show's special effects were done. Some bloopers or goofs that made it to the final cut might have you scratching your head, and then there are those cool trivia facts you may have never known before like how many sets and backgrounds the television series shared with Bewitched.
    Find out how star Larry Hagman's future on Dallas was predicted in two different episode of the 1960's I Dream of Jeannie, and what relationship in real life was the actor who played the Blue DJinn to the star of the show, Barbera Eden.
    Also, see Jeannie almost hit the Bewitched home with Tony Nelson's awesome car a 1965 GTO.

    I have never heard of different shows sharing sets like that before except Star Trek, but they were all Star Trek shows. This is wild. In all the years I worked in TV I never saw it happen. When we were done they would strike the set and most of the walls hit the dumpster - sad to say. Some were kept and trucked to storage units off lot but this is blowing my mind.

    I've always enjoyed thinking of various classic tv shows being apart of a shared universe due to the reuse of sets and locations. I love that you do that in your videos. And, I dream of Jeannie is one of my favorites. Watched reruns back in 2000 as a nine year old and I still watch it often.

    Sad news, the entire street used in this show, Partridge family, The Middle, Bewitched, Hazel, Christmas vacation, and many more were destroyed a couple of weeks ago. This includes the pool used in so many shows and movies. The fountain used in Friends as well. All the houses were leveled and office buildings will be put up.

      @@tvcrazyman Hollywood saves very little. I went by the construction last Wednesday and the buildings are super old and sound stages and facades are barely anything to being with, plus Burbank has a real issue with termites and that might have played a role in tearing them down too. It looks super different on that back corner of Verdugo and Pass now though. You get used to seeing sound stages your whole life somewhere, then they are gone. Strange feeling actually.

    When Jeannie was in the back of the station wagon, they most likely had the back seat folded down. The back seats would fold down in those station wagons. My dad had two different station wagons. We used to fold the back seat down a lot.

    Most of the goof in this video were missed by me, especially the background part of the movie set building. And I never noticed the houses being used for more than one family. But it made me wonder, do you watch these shows in slow motion? I’d have to, to notice the differences in the shows. Either way, GREAT JOB.

    In Season 4, Episode 10, "How to Marry an Astronaut," there is a scene where Jeannie is on a backyard swing. Tony gets knocked down, and the camera assumes his point of view, looking up at Jeannie on the swing. However the angle is so angled the the top edge of the sky backdrop and the studio wall above it are clearly visible.

    The Bewitched house appeared in a few more shows of that time! The Baxters on Hazel lived next to it and a few times in the openers and in episodes they would show either Hazel or George Baxter driving by it! Eventually George's associate Harry Knowles moved in to the house when he got married. The Partridge Family also lived down the street from it and it would show up in the background several times!

      So it's on the Warner Ranch lot where they shot the fountain scene for Friends then? If it is, they are tearing that place down right now and rebuilding it again. Pretty wild. As for the name "ranch", well maybe 80 years ago it was a ranch.

    There were "series continuity" errors for sure! Like how it was originally said that Jeannie was not *_born_* a genie, but was turned into one as a "young girl" (by the Blue Djinn, we would eventually learn), which Tony reiterates (and Jeannie alludes to) in the season 2 episode "How to Be a Genie in 10 Easy Lessons".. Indeed, in the season 1 episode "What House Across the Street?" Jeannie's mother (played by Lurene Tuttle) showed no indication of being a genie herself. But by season 3 Jeannie is apparently of a "genie family", like Samantha's witch family on _Bewitched,_ as we see that her sister is also a genie, as is Jeannie's mother in season 4 (now Barbara Eden herself). Speaking of the house across the street, it's also the house of Hazel's new boss *_Steve_* Baxter that same year, and would turn up next season as the house Endora conjures up as Halloween approaches.
    Furthermore, when Jeannie blinks up the house, we also learn that the address of the lot is 1140 Oak Grove, that number being consistent with the _Bewitched_ house down the street on THAT side being 1164 (which it was except for one episode of that series, where the number was different for no apparent reason, before changing BACK to 1164 later still!). In an outdoor scene when Dr. Bellows sees the house on the vacant lot he just bought, in a bit at Tony's front door we can see the number above is 1137 (also consistent). Later, in the episode "Jeannie Breaks the Bank" (filmed at the end of season 1 but, being in color, aired in season 2) Tony's "account card" at the bank shows his address to be 1137, but now on "Macy Street" in "Coco Beach".Then in the season 3 episode "My Double Crossing Master" his address is now 811 Palm Street. Finally, in season 4, starting with "Invisible House for Sale", his address has become 1020 Palm Drive!
    In the season 4 episode "The Case of My Vanishing Master", part 2, the "Bell in Hand Tavern" wall decoration, that had been there for some time between the bedroom door and the front wall disappears in some scenes; in subsequent episodes it's replaced with a relief sculpture.
    And then there's the fact that in the season 1 episode "The Moving Finger", Tony and Jeannie visit Hollywood, where they kearn that genies cannot be photographed, a fact reiterated as a pivotal plot point in the season 5 Wedding episode. But four times in between those occasions, Jeannie IS photographed: season 2's "My Master, the Spy" (the back of her head is in the foreground of the photo of Tony in Paris), seaon 3's "THe Econd Greatest Con Artist in the World" (picture in the newspaper), and season 4's "Used Car Salesman" episode (her image picked up by TV camera) and "Biggest Star in Hollywood", where they DO recall her having been to Hollywood once before, way back in season 1, when we learned she can't be photographed,, but again have her picture in the newspaper!

    • @tvcrazyman
      @tvcrazyman  8 місяців тому +1

      It's kind of like they made up as they went along just to fit the particular episode's story and not the bigger continuity of Jeannie's world. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't fit the larger picture. Part of it may have been because they were in such a big hurry to put out new episodes every week.

      @@tvcrazyman They also didn't have VCRs, DVD's or Streaming for people to find the errors by checking. If you only got to see an episode once or twice a year, and that's it, continuity flubs are easily forgiven. Now, it's a nerd's paradise to trash any microscopic booboo.
