If you do get multiple, you should really aim to get a Citi Rewards plus card. What's better than getting 5% on a category of your choice? Getting 5.5% back on multiple cards in categories of your choice.
We’ve had a Sears card for like 20+ years, that’s Citi. It’s only 1% but Unlimited. Is there a way we could upgrade that card to like a 2% double cash or whatever their best Citi card is, and keep that 20+ years of Credit age? Or should we just apply for other cards to use primarily and keep this one open just for the age?
I would first try calling Citi to see if you can product change. I’m not sure if you can with that card, but it would be the easy way to do that. Otherwise there’s nothing wrong with applying for a double cash as well and keeping the old card open so you keep that credit age growing.
The Lowe’s credit card earns 5% back on spending at Lowe’s which is definitely decent. The Home Depot card is not so good. But I would go with the Citi Custom Cash if you spend $500/mo or less on home improvement stores, and just make that your dedicated home improvement card.
i’m stuck between the capital one savor or the blue cash everyday or chase freedom flex lol , this is my first credit card since i found out my debit card is useless because im not getting anything back when i spend , i usually do grocceries & utilities
Chase always comes first in my book. Lots of upside with Chase, and very little downside. Plus it keeps your other options open with Capital One and Amex.
@@EthanPatrick_CreditCards i ended up going with the capital one saver one , got approved for 10k on it but i’m sure chase will be my next option, thanks for the great video!
If it’s with a major bank like Chase, Citi, AMEX or Capital One then you can often ‘product change’ to a different card, yet keep the same credit history. Even if it’s not a major bank you should call to ask if there’s an option that you can downgrade or product change to a different card. Just make sure it will keep that same credit history. Otherwise the options are to cancel or keep paying. Canceling isn’t the worst thing ever but it’s definitely not ideal. That’s a tricky situation
Just an aside....If You cancel the card with zero balance, it will stay on Your credit report as a plus for 7 years. The problem is when 7 years is up and it drops off....THEN it could hurt length of credit score or average length. My secured canceled Capital One still shows but when it drops off I will lose one year total and some time in average. Google to check but I think this might be correct.
What are your thoughts on a Team Cash Back Citi trifecta of Double Cash and Custom Cash and Rewards+? The latter for the 10% bonus TYP when redeeming and 10 point round-up on purchases
It’s not a bad setup at all. I would still rather earn 5% back at gas stations and grocery stores with the current Chase trifecta card bonuses, but for a no annual fee setup that’s pretty good!
I realized this was a no annual fee video, but I wish you had mentioned that you can upgrade from the AMEX blue cash everyday to the blue cash preferred, and the amount of spending that would make it worth it to get that 6% on groceries instead of 3% (basically maxing out the $6,000 spend.)
For Food definitely the capital one savor one or one of the Chase freedom cards unlimited. For gas and marketing you could look into the Wyndham Earner Business card
@@EthanPatrick_CreditCards also for dining or restaurants. Does that include fast food too? I was always confused on what they considered “restaurants” or “dining”.
I’ve been using a credit card with 0 rewards for years. People tell me that I’m dumb, and they’re right. I’ve probably left tens of thousands on the table
It’s never too late to get started. Pick a card that will at least get you something in return! Applications usually take about 5 minutes and any card on this list could suit you well, but I like the Chase cards most.
@@TomTomXIV no, reread what I wrote. 25 minimum means each redemption must be AT LEAST $25.00 but it can be more. It cannot be less than $25.00 per redemption so if you had 26.00 you could do a 26.00 redemption however if you did a 25.00 redemption you would have to wait until you had 25.00 in redemptions available to do another redemption
Thanks for watching and let me know if there are any other cards you would add to this list!
Still waiting on Chase to change the CFU to a 2% back card! Great video Ethan!
Haha that would be SO awesome. Would probably be too good if it was though haha!
Great video! I love the citi custom cash, but never thought about getting multiple, that's very interesting!
Yeah it’s a great card! Especially if you have a couple, it can help you get closer to earning 5% back on everything. Thanks Olivia!

Like amex customer service. Don't like how they change their terms and conditions on their cards every 3 months😮
Yes exactly. And chances are they will continue to increase fees and coupon books.
My oldest card sucks and has an annual fee. Closing it isn’t an option cause of the credit score hit what can I do ?

Sounds like you had something very specific in mind! It’s hard to cover all the details in one video but you bring up an interesting point.
The citi double cash is just a must have card
It’s an excellent one, especially with the bonus!
what software do use for your video edit?
I have a video editor and I’m not sure what they use!

US Bank makes redemptions 25 USD minimum so though that’s a major downside of the Cash+ card
That’s true, thank you for mentioning that! That can make the redemption process a lot less flexible.
