- I had so many people suggest I visit A&J Games when I was in Los Angeles that I had to check it out. I'm glad I did! This place has so many video games and everything that goes with it (consoles, manuals, just 'stuff') that had us hang out for a while. Here's what we saw and what I picked up.

A & J is a gem. I’ve been going there for over 20 years. The only store with that kind of inventory in Southern California.
This is one of my favorite stores in LA. It’s on my way to work so I usually stop by to see anything “new”!
This store looks incredible! There's one here that's similar and kinda unknown. You know it's the real deal when it's just stacks and stacks of games! 💜

I'm 35 years old and this is in the neighborhood I grew up in. I pass here everyday and I haven't stepped foot in here since at least 2002. I have been wanting a Sega Dreamcast so bad so I can play Jet Grind Radio. Lately I have revisited FFVII (og and Remake) playing on my on PS4. I need to go to A and J!!!

I have a love/hate relationship with stores like this. Usually, I find they have good prices, but finding anything specific can be a challenge and it likely won't be clean. This one isn't too bad, but holy cow I have seen some stores that are basically a pile of whatever and if I find something, I need to ask prices.
I am currently re-organizing a game store I am working for, as the previous owner gave zero shits about testing games he took on trade, or cleaning them. Now we are going through around 10,000 games and it will take months to test, clean, and price. I think I just have a touch of OCD and prefer to have things as organized as possible. In alphabetical order. Maybe I am just slightly bitter, but also I want customers to know that they are getting something that works and is clean and that I cared for.
His prices are way too high and they always have been. Im surprised Jon put out this video after going and filming there. He routinely doubles ebay/pricecharting for most games that are priced, and most games that arent priced he looks up on ebay then adds on $5 or $10, even if its loose and the price he sees on ebay includes manual and box. This place just sucks.
The rarest item you saw in there and missed is the orange 2nd player gun to Leathal Enforcers on the Sega CD. It was in the glass case.

The store changed so much😢, I remembering the early 2000s ditching school amd walking to AnJ games. Place had about 5 tvs with about 5 systems each, if any game in he's inventory was USED you could play 50cents for 30mins. 😢😢😢😢 miss those days
I took an Xbox for them to repair. I callled them a week later for an update and they just kept brushing me off. I came in two weeks after that and Gary told me that I had “lost my console” and said they’d give me another one w a discount then brought me my console out of the glass case. Check the reviews man. Plus he abuses his technician verbally and physically. I feel bad for anyone who supports this scumbag. Good video John

I went there on a visit from the UK back in 2017 and loved it. It was like an Aladdin’s cave of retro goodness.
I like seeing wall to wall stuff like that.
i can be found at A&J Games any given weekend flipping through the boxes of old manuals.
In the case at 1:11 there is an NES Videomation in a sealed package that might go for a hefty price.

I actually went to this store when I went to LA but all I bought was an extra battery and a charger for my PSP
You spoke of the Nuon, etc. I have the Nuon and five of the seven games, as well as the entire library of Xavix games. If you ever wanted to check out the Console Purist Museum, please let me know.
I've been here before and I see he still has tons of stuff everywhere. Last time I was there he had a PS2 Tool Developer System. Looks like it's gone now. I was curious to see how much he was asking and he didn't have a price for it. I also HIGHLY recommend Tito's Tacos down the street from here. Best cheese tacos in town. Usually a long line around lunch time though.

John, can I ask you a quick question: I live near Los Angeles, and I have fairly large pile of video games from the DS, 3DS, Xbox, Gamecube, PS2 era that I am looking to sell, and I was wondering if there is a certain store in the LA area you recommend I take them to? I am not looking for who is going to pay the most money, I just want to go to a place where the people working there are nice (i.e. price things pretty fair for the customers), and at least will offer me a fair deal (i.e. won't completely take advantage of me because I will be coming in with lots of stuff and am willing to sell it all at a discount for one price instead of item by item). Thanks in advance for any advice.
Oh, I'm not sure as there are TONS of video game stores in the LA area.
Better just taking a few in at a time to different stores and seeing which one you like

Go in best buy and look at what they have done with video games. If you have any games, SELL THEM NOW, the value is absolutely about to be dumped. That market is about to crash.
The modern video game market that you see at Best Buy is about to crash (if it has not already crashed), but the retro video game market is very different. Completely different type of customer looking to buy older video games versus modern video games which are transitioning to download only.

That copy of Arkanoid is a 5-screw copy I can tell because it has no clips on top I used to have a 5-screw copy of Arkanoid but I traded it for a 3-screw copy because I like the look of the clips same with my copy of Mario Bros. (not Super Mario Bros.) I had a 5-Screw copy of Mario Bros. but I gave that copy to a buddy of mine and then I got a 3-screw copy because I REALLY like those clips on top which the 5-screw games don’t have I know there are some games that only come in 5-screw so if I see a game I want that only comes in 5-screw then so be it but I want as many of my NES games as I can to be the 3-screw copies so they have those clips on top that I like even though I know the 5-screw version are more valuable but I’m not too concerned about value I just think the cartridges look cooler with the clips even though I know a game plays the same whether it has the clips or not but like I said I just think the cartridges themselves look better with the clips
