Cracking vid.... Glen Coe is where we laid my dad’s ashes...... Always emotional to see that beautiful Glen....... Looking forward to the next one..... Miss Scotland so badly.....
Lucky enough to live up in the Highlands and drive the roads out of season when they are quieter by car and motorbike. Great to see you enjoying yourselves up here.
Brilliant NC500 videos... You've captured our country beautifully... Especially with the sun shining (most of the time). Absolutely beautiful line up of cars also... Well done 👌
Hello my friend, well, I have never said ‘bloody hell’ so much. Amazing. Have postponed until March/April next year instead of beginning of December, just so we have a chance of getting through some of the routes and also, we can admire the stunning stunning scenery.
Glad you enjoyed my old stamping ground. When I lived there, I covered the entire NW Highland road network dozens of times for work and leisure. It was always best in a good turbo-diesel like My Renault 19 that romped up hills and returned an easy 55+ mpg.
My absolute favorite kind of drive, twisty, turnys up, down and around the mountains/hills! Whoever is doing your drone work is to be commended. It really gives a far better perspective of the elevations. I remain envious.
When the US Naval base was there in Dunoon, there was a Dunkin Donuts shack just before the ferry entry...always a must with the kids for the journey home...last time we was there waiting for the Donuts, out of the Sea mist glided a US nuclear sub to moor along side the service ship...cherry on the cake...epic roads that side of the country.
Excellent video, I love seeing people's reactions to the amazing scenery on the west coast - when it's not hidden by clouds! Bet the cars felt very wide on some of that single track!
I like how you really stay focussed on the cars, the drive, and the scenery, but if you're gonna tease us with a suit bag, I'd also like to see some of the places you eat, stay, and drink! I think it would really round out getting to share the full experience with you.
They are the most nonchalant coos ever! Went up there many years ago on the motorbike, full camping gear (weather was a bit kinder, shat myself several times on the tight corners). Amazing place. Thanks, Pete. Good memories.
Great video, great scenery. I drove the Applecross road many times in the late 80’s early 90’s. Was in the RN and we had some trial areas up there. Think I was told it’s the third highest navigable road in the UK. Not sure if that’s true.
The names General Wade and Major William Caulfield come to mind. Roads built by the English army to keep the locals suppressed after the Jacobite rebellions.
Done this with 17 Cars in our party all the same make. It was brilliant and around 24c Blue Sky. The coast road just gets better and better. Did it with this party all the way past Durness to Tongue and back. Done it many times to the point I know every twist and turn. Take it lunch was at the Inn 😁 Just watch out for the highland cooos 👍 Cows are so used to it. Shame the weather closed in. I’ve always been lucky but the very first year we did it the four days were a heat wave or In scotland when we get two weeks of stunning weather Summer 😁 But the Road from Ullapool to Durness is stunning as well.
The last time I drove the Applecross road coming down the road with all the twisties I met a local coming up who regarded the road as his and was not prepared to give way to our 15 car convoy. I take you had lunch in the local inn which is fabulous
Great video! I did the Applecross Pass a few years ago in a 997.2 Turbo. I was a little frustrated with the traffic and lack of hooning opportunities. However, once I slowed down and started taking in the views it became one of the best drives I ever had. I firmly believe the Highlands offer the best views and touring opportunities anywhere in the world.
Mega vid, thanks.Reminds me of my trips around the highlands.Glencoe is fantastic,as is Skye.Glad you enjoyed your trip around the wonders of Scotland.Hope the midges didn't bother you too much.
Hi Ped Excellent Part 2. Love the scenery up there despite the weather. Drone shots really added the pro touch. Have not made it to the Skyfall location, but Mrs P managed it before lockdown, and was equally impressed.🍷🍷
Applecross is stunning and the road and views are lovely as well but that road can be the most frustrating road ever. So many camper vans. Believe it or not petrolheads. But the best time to do a road trip in Scotland is Jan/Feb. It's usually too cold for rain so the skies are clear, the sun is beaming with heat and the roads are empty. It can rain and when it does, it's usually a storm but it's actually really rare up here. The one thing is the roads are obviously cold. Jan/Feb, it's generally below -5 at best so ps4 s tires aren't the ones to go for. Get very good winters on
Hi Peter we did it in September in my 2018 skoda superb 2.0 190 tdi dsg sel executive estate, and it was the most rewarding and relaxing drive I have every done ,as you know I have sold the skoda because I have ordered a brand new t6.1 lwb highline kombi swamper camper from van haven. Bloody hell Pete, congratulations, think it is your most beautiful vid up to now,you have blown my mind away...what scenary,my goodness...and the cars well...thank you so much, amazing!!!!!
We drove a very enjoyable 1500 miles in August 2020 around beautiful Scotland and Skye in my 2010 MX5 with Roof down everyday except for when we reached Glasgow because it hammered it down! Although we didn’t do the full NC500 we did touch on it in places. Awesome
Brilliant watch, also hilarious. I passed all of you on the way to the ferry in Dunoon (Home town). The road you went with the slow car is my go to road in the M2 on a summers night after 7pm you wont find a single car on there, just need to watch out for the deer and pheasants. Ah, the old Western Ferries. I've seen a few sports/super cars get a little jammed up during low tide. Loved your videos, brings back memories of a few years ago when my father and I did the NC500. I hope you took the coast road (turned right) after getting off the ferry, there are some epic roads as you head south through Ayrshire and into Lanarkshire (depending on your route).
Stayed in Plockton for a week in May this year, left at 4.00 AM for the run back to Bristol, 455 miles, Bank Holiday weekend. Hit Glencoe as the sun was coming up on a glorious cloudless sky. Pink purple blue orange. Saw two vans and a car. That was breathtaking. (SL400). Subscribed. TonyS

Epic scenery, beautiful drone shots and a fantastic GT4….hope you had a nice holidays, I saw you having a well deserved rest on your guest appearance on Stef’s 24 hrs in a smart car.

Had a passenger with me in my Mk2 TT 3.2 and we were accompanied by a Ducati 1299 Corse which you can imagine struggled at times on some parts of the West and North Coast. Stayed in Ullapool and two days in my home town of Wick and we had a blast. Will definitely do it again. Lucky to have it on my doorstep. Enjoyed your footage 😉👍
Do you know what those tall poles are for next to the road? I do. There for snowplows. Look up the heights paved road in America and it will be Trail Ridge Road in Colorado. Your music gets real loud between bits, too loud at times. Nov 6, 21 and we have good Scottish weather this weekend.
Cracking vid of one of our favourite routes, been doing the NC500 long before it became a tourist route, your vid has probably only made it even busier! Thankfully I only grew up there and I am a West Coast boy unfortunately Africa not Scotland but having spent the last 21 years in the West of Scotland I agree with you the scenery in the middle to west is probably the best Scotland has to offer and if you ever make it out to the Western Isles they are off the scale for scenery. Another cracking film showcasing Scotland and a very good selection of cars. Keep them coming. P.S. we did the pass on our long weekend in August in a thunderstorm with pebbles being rolled down the road by the water, safely encountered courtesy of Land Rover.
Just look up the Nc500 There’s really only one route (With a couple of loops you can choose to do or not ,applecross being one, drumbeg being the other ) Personally I’d just go as far as Durness ,gets less epic after that

Why do people bang on about the applecross road? It’s a scenic road, very pretty but not a drivers road. The road from fort William to mallaig! Now that is a drivers road
I have got to agree with you that is my No.1 route in Scotland followed by The Snow Road then Inverness to Ullapool which I did regularly when I lived in The Western Isles.
Now you have done it in a car, do it properly on that shiny new push bike of yours. It will be interesting to see if you can beat doing it in 3 days like GCN did.
Great video, but dam you Petrol Ped all I want to do now is jump in my Boxster and drive the NC500 again. There are simply no better roads or scenery in the UK, if there is please let me know as I need to go there.
Oh yes! Indeed some really do 😬 However, presumably it is the Scottish Government who put up all the signs for the NC500 (if not the local authority) in order to encourage tourism. So The tourists cannot be blamed for being there Therefore complaints about tourist numbers should be addressed with the authorities and not by getting annoyed at those visitors who genuinely want to explore the beautiful Scottish countryside What is *important* is that visitors treat the area with absolute respect. Hopefully then there is no justification for animosity.

However, presumably it is the Scottish Government who put up all the signs for the NC500 (if not the local authority) in order to encourage tourism. So The tourists cannot be blamed for being there
Therefore complaints about tourist numbers should be addressed with the authorities and not by getting annoyed at those visitors who genuinely want to explore the beautiful Scottish countryside
What is *important* is that visitors treat the area with absolute respect. Hopefully then there is no justification for animosity.
It was a shame that you had rain and mist…I have been lucky to do this in wonderful sun…and plenty of rain…but sun is best… very very best!!😅😅😅
