As a trained nurse I had the pleasure of taking care of family members. My grandma for 10 years then my husband for 17 years. I'm 71 years old now and could use help. Office of aging help me find an aide to come 2 hours 2 days a week. It helps and I have someone come clean once a month. Hang in there. I live in Pennsylvania but if you have something like office of aging call them for help.

I feel for you.❤ I have my Mom, who is 91 . I love her with all my heart and will do anything for her.. But yes, my day out is the same. The market , errands. I just turned 60 and I wonder how much time do I have left on this earth myself to do fun stuff, things i enjoy. Makes you think for sure. You need to take time for yourselves. I have been telling myself that for years.🙏

Truly understand your dilemma. My husband and I spent 13 years taking care of my father in law. My husband never would leave him. My husband had a stroke and cancer during this. The last year of his life we received part time help. He had dementia also. It took a toll on our marriage. He passed away in his sleep in October at 103. I hope things get better.

I know where I live we can go through the county to have people assessed to see how much help they need. Can you get respite through the county that will be paid for by insurance and goes through a company?

Oh Deanna... I'm SO sorry, but things happen for a reason. Maybe it's a good thing she's no longer around you. But, poor her to have to live like that with a man harassing her and being SO scared, etc. Probably why she feels so paranoid. Awwww... poor thing. You and Addy went above and beyond to help. Oh, my! I'm so so sorry you missed out on your 4 days together and camping... It just wasn't meant to be. Thanks for sharing with us. You are a HOOT and I love you. I miss you when I don't see you for awhile. You make my day girl!! Love and blessings to all of you. 🥰❤

I was my mother's caregiver for 2.5 years alone. I would have given almost anything for a break. I made it but it took me years after her passing to feel like a normal person again.

I'm so sorry. I was a full time caregiver for my father in law until he passed, my late husband until he passed and because my son is disabled I have cared for him since birth and homeschooled him. I have never had a single night away from my son, i qualify for respite funding but must find my own caregiver, then the pay is less than minimum wage. So you can imagine the types of people that attracts and I don't feel comfortable as a single woman having them in my house alone. I get a couple of hours a week when i go out to the store and the cafe with my mum. But it is hard when you never get a break. I hope you can find someone worthy soon.

Awe Deana I'm so sorry grandma's caretaker didn't work out, be glad you didn't leave yet or she didn't leave grandma alone all weekend.my mom was a caretaker for my step aunt aftermy step-dad passed away, & it was getting to be too much for my mom, so they started having nurses aids come and swing shift, none of them slept while they were caring for my step aunt. I had cancer at the time so I needed cared for myself and I wasn't any help. Maybe check into finding several people that would be moving in? I took a caregiver job for a neighbors mother (before I got sick so about 20 years ago , they would only pay me for 4 hours a day, I don't have kids so the only thing I've rea.lly cared for was my pets and husband!( no nursing credentials or anything) but only $9 a hour back then it's too bad I live across the country in Ohio! I would love to give you and Addy a break! So sorry I hope you find a kind caring,"Mrs. Doubtfire, Mary Poppins" type person soon, you deserve a respite soon and every week for your own well being! I love your channel! I wouldn't be able to edit. Myself because I cuss like a pirate truck driver with Turrets especially when I'm mad!!! Lol Ta Ta lady hope you have a great rest of your week!

Sorry this happened to you. Maybe try to talk to a clergy person. Times are hard and there are good people that can benefit by helping. Good luck.

Don't worry about keeping some words out, I always add them in for you. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Consider yourselves lucky that she didn't harm Grandma or the rest of you in the house. I'd do it for free if I weren't so old myself. I think you should let the people at the food bank know what happened. They know caregivers who shop the food bank & might be able to recommend someone. There was talk during the election of adding some, in home, elder care to medicare. Maybe I just wished for it??? For the time being, find a day caregiver to see how everyone gets along. Get rid of the turtle & burn some sage throughout the house. There's definitely bad juju with you falling down the stairs. Take care Ms Beautiful. ♥♥♥♥♥

My husband is fast becoming a 24 hr care need. He can still dress (although shirts are quite often on backwards or inside out) he still toilets himself. Showers are needing supervision as he falls frequently. He cannot prepare meals or clean house or laundry. (He always did his own laundry before getting sick) His disability has him using a walker now and mentally he is approx. 10 years old

Dearest Deanna, I'm so, so heartily sorry that you, Addie, and Grandma were betrayed. I took care of my Dad, but only every second or third week because I had two siblings to share in his care. Although looking back on the fact that caring for him was one of the most personally valuable things that I ever did with my life, I know that I could never have done what you do/did/have done for Grandma all of this time with only an occasional respite for a few hours now and then. And most all of that time away seems to have been spent making life better for your family, not for YOU or for you and Addie as a couple.. It is a f****ing disgrace that our country does not provide the means for our elder citizens to live out their lives comfortably and with dignity, especially after all they've given. We were getting closer it has seemed, though now I will probably not live to see it happen. When I despair of this reality, I will remember your wise words, "You'll get through it." We will! Together! All of my love and concern and admiration, Carol

So you have a very large home that houses multiple people ,you obviously get money from your tenants AKA S.S.payments ,so why do you go to food banks ,I know all is welcome to food bank hauls ,but it takes away from people that live well below poverty. You make a lot of money taking care of grandma .
