This helps me see my lovely departed wife every time I hear it. Thank you, David Childs, you make heaven visible through these earthly clouds. And thank you, Karl Jenkins, for composing it for him and all who perform it.
I once played this piece with my local orchestra. I practiced it with my grandmother who I had a really strong connection with. At her furneral, we heard this. Still gives me goosebumps
The euphonium is such a beautiful instrument. I'm a saxophonist, but the euphonium is my favorite solo instrument hands down. This is simply beautiful!
I heard him play this piece in person when he came to america this past fall. and it was the prettiest thing I have ever heard. Being a euphonium myself I was deeply moved and in awe of what he could do. At the end I was crying and cheering at the same time. In two years I do believe I will play this for my college senior recital
Oh My God !!!! i got to play this piece in the Spa in Scarborough. this recording makes it sound so good. i just hopes it goes well lol !!! this is amazing
Ive never heard any thing that sounds remotly like David Childsother than George who also played the euphnium for Cory Workman´s Band in the late sixties and seventies.
You are correct. However, we are encouraged to learn both at my school just to extend our musical fluency and also in case we go to our concert festival and they give us treble sight reading music. Also, a professor that I have been in contact with at the college I hope to attend says that even as a tuba player he will occasionally be given treble sheet music.
I would LOVE to hear the Santa Clara Vanguard, Cadets, or Phantom Regiment put this on the field (the section at the 3 minute mark WAS in the Vanguard's 2011 show)
I forgot to say hello to George ,from janice, you´re greatest fan ever, ever. living in Denmark now love you and you and you´re music George. Did you have a hand in teaching David he sounds like you did.
realy realy beautifull!! i heard this piece for the first time yesterday, it was played by the belgian navy band, with a mixed choir, on the occasion of 90 years end of the great war. das this piece exist in a arrangement for a quintet? greetings from belgium ofcorse 5 ***** !!!!
We have seen each other in Oudega W, where he was playing together with the lokal Brasband and i spoke with him.i,m a trompet player. He is really some one
Never heard of this band type, but i do like it. By the way, Alto Horn and Tenor Horns are the same instrument, just by different names. Like, in America, it is Alto, but I'm pretty sure that in England, it is a Tenor.
This is the strangest ensemble I have ever seen. They have everything brass, including cornet and alto horn, yet they have no French horn. Very strange, but I like the groups rich, dark tone! Very nice.
So a simple “yes,” or “yes that is” would suffice. No one cares he earned his doctoral in music and if he’s asking if that’s his dad, I would surmise he already knows his name... . .

So lovely to read your post. My best wishes to you and yours. God bless you.
Your kindness is appreciated. Thank you for caring.

jelmer351 I may not know you, but I feel that you are a wonderful person.
2:55 goose bumps every time! Absolutely wonderful

Euphonium literally means "Heavenly sound"
Euphonium it's a world! ❤

Wow, what an incredible sound. The euphonium is such a beautiful sounding instrument!
Sometimes I think the mellower tones of a euphonium are a bit too mellow though. David definitely lays it down thick.
heard him perform this recording... at 9.35am on a frosty November morning in Newcastle... warmed me up for the day. simply awesome!!
Trop magnifique et cela me donne la chair de poule a chaque fois.
La classe David
Absolutely beautiful sound David! You make the euphonium sing! Tremendous!!
Sou apaixonado pelo euphonium, esse timbre é verdadeiramente um som de alma.
This is a very touching and memorable performance of a great piece of music. Thank you.
thumbs up if you turned the volume all the way up because it was so quiet, and then got the crap scared out of you by the percussion at 2:55 ;)
Heel mooie serene Hemelse klanken . Zeer ontroerend en innemend bespeelt.
Lovely. Harrogate Band played this at my wife's funeral. There couldn't have been a better send-off.
Tone quality 10/10!!! Keep up the inspiring work!
I'm
Beautiful, Magnificent, wunderschön ❤️
This is an amazing performance and gave me a great understanding in stage presence for mor serious peices
Oh My God !!!! i got to play this piece in the Spa in Scarborough. this recording makes it sound so good. i just hopes it goes well lol !!! this is amazing

Esecuzione stupenda bravissimi, felice di aver condiviso questo video
Thank you. Beautiful.
Fantastic :) such a warm and rounded tone and really well together band accompaniment which gives space to the soloist, beautiful
Beautifully played
Absolutely beautiful. I am in awe! Usually I buy albums by tuba artists - but I must add one of David's albums to my collection :-)
That is how the instrument was meant to be played... euphoniously! (Sweet-sounding, with a subtle hint of passion) Very nice, Mr. Jenkins.
absolutely breathtaking performance dave. x
Exceptional playing !!... practice...practice....practice Looks like it pays off!!!
@fattyfattybumbum1
Doesn't hurt having two of the best euphoniums ever as your dad and uncle! There's some AMAZING euphonium playing in that family.
Don't forget his grandfather.

I would LOVE to hear the Santa Clara Vanguard, Cadets, or Phantom Regiment put this on the field (the section at the 3 minute mark WAS in the Vanguard's 2011 show)
You ending up getting Carolina Crown all of these years later, did that satisfy you enough? 🤣
made me cry
beautiful
I like this piece !

beautiful...............:)
Very Inspiring to Young Players
That tone...
French horn players usually would play the tenor horn in a brass band, (you can find them at 1:06 behind the soloist, they look like a baby euphonium)
realy realy beautifull!!

Wow you are missing out, brass bands are extremely popular in the UK, search for them there are plenty on UA-cam.
French Horn is an alto voice, in the brass band setting the Alto Horn holds the alto voice.
Perfect
I have them on right NOW, as a matter of fact!

I listen to mnozil all of the time.
I love how most euphonium players make the same faces when playing.
they are tenor horns, no alto horns in a British brass band set up
Goos job!!!
This is fantastic playing by David and the band.
For those that gave this brilliant performance a thumbs down.
GET YOUR HEARING AIDS CHECKED 🤣
@pepedropo20
Go to Musicroom website and type benedictus for euphonium x
I play this solo in my band
@fattyfattybumbum1 David doesn't need to practice! He's that awesome!
You must be joking! How do you think he maintains the highest of standards in his playing?
i've got it! are you stlill interested?? (sorry, my english is not really good) you mean the solo voice??
i want this piece! you can send me? :)
Look up Mnozil Brass....3 trumpets, 3 t-bones, 1 tuba.
Who did the Euphonium & Brass Band arrangement?? Was it Tony Small??
Where I can find sheets this piece? please help
im interested...can you send to me?
Which band is David playing with on this piece?
Cory I think
This is the strangest ensemble I have ever seen. They have everything brass, including cornet and alto horn, yet they have no French horn. Very strange, but I like the groups rich, dark tone! Very nice.
A very British n European thing, known as a brass band. Also around other parts of the world such Oz/NZ.
is that his dad conducting?
Yes it is....Dr Robert Childs....
So a simple “yes,” or “yes that is” would suffice. No one cares he earned his doctoral in music and if he’s asking if that’s his dad, I would surmise he already knows his name... . .
@@scotrule6128 Well, I found the answer very helpful - so there!
how hard is it to pluck a string? -__-
dont forget about the tuba
I realize now that this is a European Brass Band, and I am ignorant to European music.
Cory Band from Wales...
Harry Walker - Literally the best brass band in the world, Cory.
Harry Walker - Also did you know the conductor is his father, Robert Childs?
Cory
Euphonium Swag :)
