I think you and your mom handled it correctly. It shows a lot of maturity and class that you wanted the situation to be handled civilly. You’re in the public eye and young girls look up to you. Loved this story time and hearing how you are always aiming to live by example ❤️
Isannah Challinor that’s exactly what I said her acting correctly in this “#beasavage” time she’s showing these girls how to act shes unlike ANY of the other influencers... much better Imo. She’s teaching these girls class & how to act in public which some of us weren’t taught & were 20 somethings! 🤷🏻♀️
I’m a licensed stylist myself, and also have been the client in the chair devastated over a bad haircut. So understanding both sides of the coin, I think you handled it in a very gracious manner. I think it is very hard for a client to be sure how bad their hair really is until they are home and style it themselves (as your mom did) and because she called so quickly after realizing how bad it was they should have -wanted- to make things right with you. Usually the procedure is to ask you to come in and have some free work with another stylist and if you’re still unhappy, then a refund. The fact that they are making it so hard on you guys tells me this is a regular occurrence they are used to. I’m sorry for your mom!! :(

hey nikki im a hair stylist and you handled this situation very well. the business is in the wrong due to them not giving you a refund even though you were not happy with the services provided. but in the future I say if something happens like this again stop all services. ask to speak to a manager, supervisor, master stylist or director immediately; let them know whats going on and that you are not happy with services you are receiving. Tell them you are not paying for the services but in a respectful manner so their business and youre image isn't tainted over a incident like this. some people cause a scene and the company will be waiting for you to act a fool. if they are rude and inappropriate and the manager or whoever isn't helping you go to HR immediately to resolve the issue. I hope this helped :)
I was a hairstylist for years, before I became disabled, but I never had a client not happy with their cuts & styles. However, if I ever saw someone who was upset (because u can tell by their vibe or body language or look on their face) I would ALWAYS ask if everything was ok. If they were not happy, I would always tell them not to pay. Especially because I know that feeling. And as for the stylist, if he was worried about making her happy, he would have noticed that she was not happy! If ur gonna be a hairstylist, u have to not only talk to but pay attention to ur client, because that's ur job and every stylist knows there are some people too polite to say what they're actually feeling! Poor mama Glamour! She's so beautiful!
First off , your mom left the salon with the thought that her hair was fine, because she didn’t see the full damage done until after she showered and blow dried it herself. Whenever people are in uncomfortable situation we don’t speak up, and that’s fine. We don’t wanna be embarrassed or anything. You and your mom were def in the right !
Completely agree. Especially with curly/ wavy/ textured hair, it is so hard to see what actually went on until your straighten it
I would have created a scene right then and there. I will tell the Glamazons, "Girls, watch and learn." Then give the hairstylist and manager a talking to.

Iam a hairstylist and have been for 15 years. So the rule we go by is you have a week to call with any concerns and have anything “fixed”. Being that your mom could not get her sideburns fixed, she definitely needed a refund! Also very classy and tasteful to keep it together at the check out. If they do not take care of it, I’d let them know you will go ahead and Yelp a review. Hopefully it works out!!! 😘

I think you acted much more respectfully and maturely than a lot of people would have. I also applaud and envy this type of handling of conflict from people, because someone like me with severe anxiety would probably have had a panic attack in that situation.
I think if I were a fan standing outside the salon waiting for you, I would have wanted you to confront the problem there and then even if I was there. But then again, to me, I see it as, okay they’re dealing with some stuff right now and they don’t look happy with the situation. I’ll just leave and hopefully run into you later cause this ain’t my business. I’ll let you handle your business and I’ll come tell you I love you later 🙆🏻♀️

Maybe you should have just quietly explained to the cashier your displeasure and if she started to move funny you make them know where you stand . At the end of the day you asked them to do something for your hard earned money and if you felt displeased then they don't deserve it.

Honestly Nikki, in that situation, I would have done what your mom did. But now knowing that their directors/management would pull that card of “well you paid and tipped so no refund”, from now on I would not pay. Regardless on the fan base I have, this is a personal matter. I would tell those fans, “hey I’m dealing with something right now, give me one second I am so sorry” and proceed. You couldn’t have anticipated them to not give you a refund. You did what was best at the moment.
You handled this situation so perfectly! I honestly look up to you so much your like a role model for me on how to handle situations assertively because I’m a very anxious person and I struggle with confrontation and standing up for myself. You always show me that being assertive is ok and sometimes a little bit of confrontation is helpful if you do it correctly

I haven't had a professional hair cut in 3 years because I'm never happy with the end result. I cut my own hair unprofessionally but at least I'm the only one to blame + it's free. I probably would have asked to speak to the cashier privately but take it as a lesson learned. I guess sometimes it's not right to be gracious.
I would go back and talk to them in person because over the phone nothing will get resolved. There’s nothing wrong with what you did because your mom thought it would be okay but in the end it ended up being worse than what she thought. Don’t let these people get away with bad service because they will end up doing it again to other people. But I hope you and your mom find a way to get this resolved, however you guys do best of luck! ❤️❤️

You handled it well. I would of been pissed. I had a experience where I wanted my hair red. Showed her my red hair in the past she said she could do it. Long story short it was magenta. We fought for a refund I got half back.

The worst part is some people may be suffering with social anxiety and shouldn’t have to face a situation like that! I know if it where me then I wouldn’t refuse to pay I would phone the next day and complain! So I think you done the correct thing! I wouldn’t let it go and I would phone trading standers.

When I was 14 I went to the hair dressers to have my LONG brown virgin hair dyed red, no cut at all, NO CUT, and this man did the exact same thing with spilling the tea on his life, straight up telling me about his suicide attempts outta nowhere and how his brother saved him and all the rest, he had eventually dyed my hair and I loved the colour, and to finding with a trim he told me he had a vision for the style..... this man cut 12 inches of my hair off at the back without telling me, no warning, no asking, just did it, he showed me the mirror and said “how do you like it?” And I started crying, I left with the shortest hair I’d ever had in my life and I’ve never felt so insecure, I still think back to this day about how horrific it was and my hair has never grown long again :/ so so scary what can happen when you unfortunately end up with a crazy stylist, makes it so hard to trust them!

I just have to say. You're mom is a real G for sitting there and being as calm as possible. I think that you did handle this situation as best as possible because if you were to have refused payment right then and there, knowing how cruel some people can be, you would end up the bad guy. You all handled this with such care , it is embarrassing having to show off what you don't like to people just to justify yourself. This is why I love you and your ways girl! Also.. Hmmm i understand your position in terms of trying to solve issue like this civilly and i think its very admire both you and your mum did what you did then. However, i think i would IF IT'S ME, my temper is not as well controlled as you so i most likely would wish to have the situation solved on the spot immediately and after it's controlled, i would ask the glamazons around you then to make sure to learn that they should voice out such issues out on the spot as it happened instead of just keeping it to yourself and go home feeling depressed over the bad hair cut.

I say refuse to pay. Because at the end of the day that's her hair and her money. It doesn't mean it needed to turn into a big hoopla, but she could have calmly explained the situation and refused. She would have been well within her right to.
Now if that man had any integrity at all as a hairstylist, he should have comped her service. A good hairstylist cares about what the client in their chair wants, and he missed it by a long shot.
