Love this album
This album gets too much flack it’s a great album Bruce’s playing shines
I liked it at the time as I was very young and it sounded like all the other rock bands everyone was into, motley Crüe, def leappard, whitesnake, poison, Aerosmith, Europe. In recent years I don’t listen to it at all, it’s too soft for my tastes now haha.
I saw them on the Crazy Nights tour in Stockholm 1988. My first consert. I was 13 years Old and they played loud as f**k 🤘
That's awesome!
Interesting. Saw them on the Asylum tour. First time without makeup. Loud as hell. Crazy Nights is.badass, but Destroyer is the pinnacle, just diggin' the vibe 😎
This is their best look up to this point without the makeup
"Crazy Nights" is a masterpiece.
Crazy Nights was really poppy sounding album but it's a solid record. If the producer would have included "Sword & Stone" and "Hide Your Heart" it may have been the best Kiss album post Destroy
So true ❤❤
No most debated was HOT IN THE SHADE, awkward & Weird.
Crazy nights is what renewed my love of kiss
Yes when I got that album, I though bof what they would do, then surprisingly surprised
A great album.
Synth ? Yes ! And so what ???
Stanley is on fire.
The only thing bad is " sword and stone " who unfortunatly never make his way to the album...
I Love ❤️ Crazy Nights! 🎸⭐️
Well said. True great album.
Easily their worst album
Saw this concert at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Florida.
Ron Nevison by this time was a highly in demand producer after record successes with Heart and Ozzy Osbourne.
This venture into pop metal finds Kiss in new territory and Ron brings out Kiss with a very polished 80’s rhythmical synth sound bordering on sterile, however the new sound fits and suits Kiss very well especially with their title track and power ballad “Reason to Live” to this very day I’am still perplexed as to why that song wasn’t a top 5 billboard song?!…
I digress;
In my subjective opinion,
One could easily argue that Crazy Nights is a hybrid album of a the mega hit soundtrack of “TOP-GUN”…
It wouldn’t surprise me that this was Gene and Paul’s approach from the beginning, however they didn’t have the recording skills to blend such contrasts if you will, granted I’am speculating some aspects of this commentary..
But the parallels still cannot be refuted the military font of the Crazy Nights logo and to the color scheme of both albums the photography is strikingly similar as well, I truly believe that Kiss was attempting to “fly behind” and capitalize on the success that sound track at the time, regardless Crazy Nights certainly didn’t out sell the Top Gun soundtrack, although the album was an underrated and a qualified success…
Most talented lineup!
Klsssic kiss album
No Make Up era
1. Lick It Up
2. Revenge
3. Crazy Nights
4. Carnival
5. Asylum
6. Animalize
7. Hot In The Shade
“Hell or High Water” is one of Gene’s best songs. Definitely a hair band sounding album, but I think post make-up era is one of their best. Recording sounded very good
This album is what got me into KISS .. always special to me ..
When Kiss really exploded in 1976 there was no more rabid fan than I was. Followed them their entire career. It was so bad that I never got to see them in concert until I was an adult. My mother would keep track of their tour schedule (I didn't know this until after I graduated high school) and I would always be mysteriously grounded on the days of their concerts. Saw them an even 50 shows throughout the 80's to present with the final show being at MSG for the final show. The number associated with the word "Pantheon" is twelve. From that standpoint, Kiss would make anyone's top 12 list.
I LOVE Crazy Nights!
Crazy crazy Nights has to be my favorite non-makeup songs. I remember cruising through my small town and jamming that song on my car cassette player with the windows down
The last Kiss album I bought. Then I was finished. After "The Elder" they wished no experiments. No instrumentals, no intros, no speed changes (except in "Nowhere To Run" which was first meant to be on the "Elder"), no sound collages, nothing aside the usual song scheme. This is what you got: Straight songs mostly about love with a short guitar solo after the second chorus. Thereafter you could skip for the next song. Well produced boredom.
I turned 13 one week before this album came out. I used whatever money I got in my cards to buy it. I still have it. I use the rest of my birthday money to buy a ticket to see them in December. The concert was moved to January of 88. And they filmed the turn on the night video there in Worcester mass. It was my first concert. Used some Christmas money to get a Tshirt which I also still have. Great memories.
Whats to debate. Either you like it or you dont... ps. Why are you talking like that? CRINGE
This album was alright. Maybe a tad too poppy and trying to appeal to mainstream radio at the time. Still some good cuts on the album.
what was unheard ????
The song writing on Crazy Nights is fantastic, and it's refreshing to see a positive opinion about it. Most people who put this album down can't appreciate the songs, and get stuck on the production, or the band's then-image.
The songs are utter dross.
❤
Besides the "Exposed" VHS, this was my first KISS album. I absolutely love this album and very much cherish the "Live At Budokan" bootleg album that I bought soon after.
The only debate around this album was about what bin to dump it in.
It’s one of my fave Kiss albums and I know that’s not the general consensus. I think Paul’s vocals suit the sound of that era, and nobody ever lost anything by adding keys to it.
Fantastic album.
great lp
When we were kids my oldest friend and I hadn't heard of that many bands, but KISS was a band that everyone knew. My friend had MTV and we were absolutely digging Crazy Nights. I think the album sold well in general. Then a couple of years later, opinions had apparently shifted, and I was surprised to find everyone hating on this album.
I hated this album. I loved the Asylum album & the previous albums & was very much looking forward to this when it came out. I bought it the day it came out. I should've known what to expect from the Crazy, Crazy Nights single/video but I still had hope. It remains my least favorite KISS album to this day.
No one paid much attention to them at this point. It was pure cheese.
As opposed to all their other songs? Give me a break!
@@jondaniels3774 Oh shut up. Their popularity was waning. After Lick It Up and Animalize their popularity started dropping off again. GnR had released their debut earlier that year and people were moving in that direction. The big 4 were also popular. Master of Puppets had been released the previous year, and while this was going on Kiss was trying to jump on the glam thing. Yes, Kiss were always cheesy, this was just worse.
@@sunnibird so you AGREE with me? Make up your mind! Typical Kiss fan, a bunch of geeks who were in some cult that was called an “army” worshipping some guys who played cheesy music while wearing makeup, platform boots and and utilizing every gimmick in the book to fool their rubes into believing they were “awesome.”
Again, give me a break!
@@jondaniels3774 You sound like a real pos. Have a nice day Dick.
I like The Elder 10 times more.
Yuck 🤮
This was the first tour I saw them on, so this album still hold a place in my heart.
@35 seconds when you called it a Masterpiece I dropped my phone from laughing 😂
Why?
@@tobattotunesBecause it is easily one of the worst hair metal albums of all time.
Love Kiss, but this album sucks! 🤷🏻♂️
I’m sorry dude but, NO. This was an attempt at Bon Jovi hair metal crap. Ron Nevison was a terrible producer. Keyboards suck. Lame ass cover. No tunes whatsoever. Evolve? Seriously?
Lmao
lol worst album they ever made
Wrong, it's one of their Best ❤❤
