Originally the dent looked pretty bad, but as you progressed with the process there was a vast improvement. It seems like almost everybody that has that type of refrigerator has a ding or two, they don’t make things to last like they once did. I personally think you did a great job ! Thanks for sharing your experience and I hope that you are satisfied with good job you did. At one time in my youth I was a fanatic about things like that, as I get older I try my best to keep things looking good, but if something happens I don’t stress out as I once did. I just try to move on, life is too short and things are not worth the stress in my opinion.
These expensive refrigerator manufacturers should really use slightly thicker sheet metal, or a more robust backing because these things dent way too easily!
Yes I wish they would do that There is a small dent in my 2 week old fridge.Easy to get scratched and dented by curious toddlers walking with things in hand.
You want to make sure you place the two sides of the puller as close to the ding as possible and you may have a shot at reducing it. Good luck and thanks for watching!
As someone who does pdr, this was entertaining to watch and listen to. Anyway, you can always use your knock down and hammer to get rid of that high spot after you glue pull it. Having a light would be handy too.
If you call the manufacturer they may have a small circular flat stainless steel like sticky that goes over this. its about the size of a penny and is hardly noticeable and definitely better than looking at a dent. i would fill the dent with a little bit of putty and make sure its flat and dry so the sticky will lay flat.
In theory that would work, but as you keep using a smaller and smaller pull head, it sticks less and less. If it doesn't stick to the metal with the hot glue, it won't work.
This is a good example of what not to do. While you changed the appearance of the dent, you actually made it worse. Now, you not only still have a dent in the middle, but you also have highs pulled up all around it. It's what is called the volcano effect. If you're happy with the results, then I suppose you did well. But, if you want it done right, a good PDR tech could have made it go away. you got what you paid for with that kit. A dent that looks different, but not gone.
+Dent Maestro --- > Thanks for watching. It's a very common thing to get dents in stainless steel appliances. People post nonsense techniques like using cold and hot, which has no chance of working. If you watched the video, read the description, and listened carefully, I stated that the results would have been better if I setup the tool different and I advised people NOT to do it like I did. Thanks, and looking forward to learning a better way to do this....
Well that saved me a lot of time. Thank you for the video disproving this method. It was both informative and amusing. I bought a second hand fridge freezer off Facebook and have decided I would rather live with the dents.
May help if you add a little heat so it can conform a bit. It may push in then.

It looks like it did make the dent smaller. Not sure if my idea would help or hinder but here goes, drill a hole in a piece of plywood a bit larger then your puller attachment that your gluing onto the fridge. Sand down the edges of the drilled hole that faces the fridge so if the puller pulls really hard you don't end up with a circle kink around the dent. I think I would fill just the dent with the hot glue instead of putting it on the puller. This way it's only attached and is pulling just on the dent instead of possibly pulling on part of the surrounding metal. I know it will affect the surrounding metal to an extent but just having the glue perfectly in the dent and having the hole in that plywood just the size of the puller attachment might reduce your chances of affecting that surrounding metal. Just an idea!
I think the video was helpful. Thank you for posting! I however do not see why some people feel the need to be so rude. If you cant say something nice then keep your unkind words to yourself ....no one wants to hear it
If you have a ding in the top or bottom corners just add a Samsung, LG, GE, Frigidaire, Kenmore factory emblem and it looks new again. Only if your fridge doesn't already have one. If your fridge already has one then its a no go.
If you push with your pinky through a trash bag enough to cause a small bump, you can't fix the bump anymore. I'm thinking same goes with SHARP (1/8 or more) deep dings in the fridge. I might be wrong, most of the time I'm wrong. Thanks for posting.
The actual and best fix will be to contact a mobile PDR Specialist and a service tech for the fridge and have them inner panel removed or a way into the door created so the PDR guy can give it a shot. Not saying glue pulls won't work but you're going to need to use a smaller tip on that size dent. Once the high-spot is created you'll still need to then use a plastic punch and knock it down. All risky on such a surface. If you're going to replace the panel anyway, you have nothing to lose I guess.
This has to be the funniest video I have watched in a long time especially with the comments!! OMG you guys really made my day!!!!!!.....lolololololololololol

You are almost there. First, use a rubber mallet instead of your fist. Cleaning the whole fridge would not hurt and keep that OCD under control. Thanks for sharing.
My Uncle was a metal model maker. Ever see a truck where the sides were all wavy? He would flatten them out by heating the metal with a torch and then quench them with cold water, actually shrinking the metal. That ding stretched the metal. There's no way you'll get it back by force. Try a heat gun and quench it. Becareful though. Don't put heat on it and walk away. It'll discolor. good luck
Thanks Mike. I understand the concept behind that method, however I have yet to see it work. I would actually love to see someone make a video successfully fixing a ding with that method. Thanks for watching!
jakeguitar01 i appreciate your video... candid, precisely what one feels and want to say. The idea is that you have created a special video that is satisfyingly good to veiw, learn, laugh...thank you for sharing
You have to do what auto body dent repair technicians do, you have to get BEHIND the panel. They use long spoon and bent spatula type tools to push the dent out from behind by prying. They also have little punches to tap the dent back from the front side after popping it out until they get it perfectly flat. It's basically an art form when done well. When they are done you can't even tell a dent was ever there.
I swear this was so darn funny! I was hoping so much to find a solution for my stupid fridge but at the end of the day this video made me care less about the fridge!!! I cannot stop laughing...🤣😂😂🤣You are so funny!!!!! Lmao 🤣😂😂😂😂
+theoracle42 --->Hi. I think that this technique probably will work but don't do it exactly like I did. Make sure you place the two sides of the puller as close as possible to the ding so you don't cause an outward dent in your sheet metal. I had the two parts of the puller way too far apart. The truth is that there really is no better way to pull a dent from a fridge than like this. The other guys using hot and cold techniques is totally useless. This is your best shot at removing or reducing a ding, if done right.
I am sorry, but I am laughing. Sorry bro. I am OCD with this kind of stuff, I totally understand how irritating this is. But, this is what a comedy is, you laugh at another persons unfortunate.
+Nathan Robinson ----> yeah, the problem is that the aluminum is way too heavy of a gauge for it to work on a refrigerator door and especially on a ding which has sharp edges. Sure.... and make it more expensive, heavy and hard to move in..😅
That’s the point. They can but they won’t. They know that you will buy another fridge or buy a new panel door. It’s an extra revenue for them.
Yes I wish they would do that
There is a small dent in my 2 week old fridge.Easy to get scratched and dented by curious toddlers walking with things in hand.
Put the glue directly on the dent and avoid getting it beyond the dent. Then place the puller on. This way you’re only pulling on the dented area
It's really helpful to see all the attempts because you explain how to do it better each time. Thanks.

@@float32 dude it’s stainless steel and it’s probably a basic 304 which is totally non magnetic.
@@davidmcwhirter1121 so you’re saying you need to add something sticky to the back of the magnet? Seems easy enough.
The proper kits come with a mallet and rubber pieces for tapping the raised parts down after dent is pulled. It is easy with those tools.

This made me realise that little dent ain’t so bad and not to touch it anymore!
When all else fails, those good old technical taps come in handy.

Too much glue. Needs to focus more on the center of ding and less on the surface. At least that’s what worked for me.

ANY dent into thin metal sheeting stretches the metal and when you pull it out like this you will have a slight raised area.

You have to use a hammer and tap it ever so lightly to get it back flat. Been there done that
