It's great to see Welch and Rawlings performing in public again. They are a remarkable duo, every bit as accomplished as the Beatles as vocalists, musicians, and writers. Welch and Rawlings walk among the greatest of the greats in popular music.
😂 WTF do the Beatles have to do with it?!
@@lowellcalavera6045 Beatles but not the Ants
Every bit as accomplished? No. Greatest of the greats ... in popular music? Again, no. But I get that you like them (they are very good).
@@lowellcalavera6045 It's a fair comment, as not a lot of people know that Dave is the bastard child of Paul McCartney. Or maybe it was Ringo....I dunno, one of them, whatever.
Yes they are very good. So are the Beatles and Elvis but that stage is effing disgusting.
A blending of voices like honey and whiskey, goes down smooth with a lingering warm feeling. Well done, angel voices are jealous.
What great talent, wish they would tour again!
she's more beautiful than ever
Seriously!
You're just older.
If you can see this duo live in concert, see them! Great musicianship, great voices, a great show.
If they ever come back to England, I intend to.
Phew! Goodness gracious! Brings tears to your eyes that one. Stunningly beautiful.
David's guitar solos are a gift.......
We've missed you two...
Their voices are so beautiful together....
When a harmony can't be separated, it becomes heavenly.
What superb musicians. Words can’t express how great these two folks are. I greatly appreciate their sublime music.❤👏👏
She's such a goddess, what a lucky man.
I love them both..god bless them ❤
Saw them play this in 16 at the Ryman with no mic's just the church acoustics and you could hear a pin drop.
...just - wow...what I would give...just - wow...
I was at that show. Travelled from Toronto for it.
more people should know these two it's all ways a little magic.
Love these two great musicians❤❤
Simple, hauntingly beautiful version of this great song.
That is just brilliant!!!
We were lucky enough to be there that night for the John Anderson tribute. I've watched the video of the whole show so many times it's ridiculous. David's guitar solo on this song and Sierra Hull singing Down in Tennessee were special highlights.
I have my father's 1935 Epiphone Olympic but I couldn't make it sound like David Rawlings in a hundred years. Makes you wonder if you should keep playing.
Still got it ✨
i got chills listen to this...to them......
such a beautiful dress...
Super talented, I'd love to see them in person!
I fell in love with somg listening to my Dad's Johnny Cash albums.
Be still my heart ... ❤️
This is an old great song. And Gillian, Justin, Ryan and David have written some more masterpieces x
They age like fine wine. I just wish they'd do more.
Great to hear a new take on the old Lefty Frizzel song
It’s been a while and I have missed them both. my favourite version of this song has always been the one by The Band. And I’m sure I remember GW and DR doing a brighter more up tempo version in their set many years ago. Anyway this performance is sublime. Dave’s harmony lines come off like a whole other song in itself
Gorgeous
I was lucky to experience the David Rawlings experience, and can't wait for more
Still kickin' it.
Ten years ago, on a cold dark night
There was someone killed, 'neath the town hall light
There were few at the scene, but they did agree
That the man who ran, looked a lot like me
The judge said son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else, then you don't have to die
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life
For I had been in the arms of my best friend's wife
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
The scaffold is high and eternity's near
She stands in the crowd and shed not a tear
But sometimes at night, when the cold winds blow
In a long black veil, she cries ov're my bones
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
Songwriters: Marijohn Wilkin, Danny Dill.
Simply wonderful! Thank you guys.
Absolutely fantastic...
What a great interpretation!
Beautiful blend of voices.
Genius
Best version I have heard since Big Pink!
Super
Sacred
I hate the America of today, I adore the America of the past.
near the god thx
One of the damn saddest songs that I have ever heard!
Where's that beautiful old Gibson J50??
Gilly is now playing an old Martin! No more Gibson?
Cold woman...she stands in the crowd at the execution of her lover and sheds not a tear needless to say doesn't say a word. I would say the man was framed.
cumberland cap
Too slow .... Man she's a knockout with grey in her beautiful hair! Wow 💥
Ehhhh... This version was just too slow and drawn out for me. The harmonies of course are great, but it the tempo just felt like it was trudging.
Yawn.
