  • ICON Airflite Helmet Review
    www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/i...
    One look at that face shield, and the Airflite had your interest. Yes, that’s a massive full-length shield with badass intentions and plenty of visibility. Those chin vents aren’t just for looks, as they can blast air into the helmet for unparalleled ventilation. Fear no sun with a drop-down visor hidden away in the shell. For the full Airflite effect, you’ll want to look at our face shield options as well. In the safety department, it’s DOT/ECE rated. Oh, and everyone will be looking at you. What’s safer than that?

    Everyone forgets to mention that these Icon helmets have a halfway-lock position for the internal sunvisor.
    Which is a huge selling point, it means you can essentially have a sun-block while the road ahead is still 100% clear.

    Love the helmet!!! It just saved my life after I hit a guard rail at 30+ mph in a curve. When I say saved my life I mean if I wasn’t wearing the helmet the my vertebrae would be broken instead of a fractured.Ventilation does its job in semi warm days, if it’s too hot the secondary visor helps. Looks super cool! Got several comments about it. Only drawback would be the helmet has a lot of wind noise. Ear protection is recommended. Overall love the helmet and wouldn’t be here today without it highly recommend!!!

    I've put a couple hundred miles in with this helmet over the past week since it arrived. I have two gripes with it so far. The first one being the size, when you head turn at speed (60mph+)its like sticking a cardboard box out of the car window doing 60+mph, you just catch a facefull of air that wants to push you off the bike. Also when wearing a backpack the neck cutouts seen 3:05-3:20 at are always catching on the shoulder straps for me. The other problem is the full tuck position. It's not very good at all, I have to adjust the helmet by tilting it back on my head to be able to see anything more than a barely-1-inch gap between my windscreen and the top of the helmet. I maybe could have gone one size down on the helmet and maybe that would help, but a Medium fits nice and snug and I can't squeeze any fingers in anywhere between the visor cutout and my face, I also have to push down from the top to get the helmet on, so it fits nice and tight. The forehead cutout could have been a bit higher to better accommodate a full-tuck position.

    It may be just the nerd in me, but with the right tint on the visor and the helmet color you can look like a spartan from halo, or the closest thing to power ranger you can get. Either way it’d put the biggest smile on my face to see it

    So glad to find this review!!! My husband just surprised me with one of these that I'd seen, tried on, and fallen in love with.
    Pro: It's gorgeous!! I got the "Blue", which is a graphic of an underwater scene... swirling seaweed, bright orange octopus tentacles, fish, seaweed, etc. I love it!
    Con: It nearly takes my ears off when I remove the helmet. It fits great; it's just the way it's made.
    Thanks again...I look forward to shopping with you guys. My grandson swears by y'all!

    Bought one about a month ago, did about 400miles with it. The sealing around the inside of shield is not there at all (more on the top forehead area) therefore when going normal highway speeds the wind noise was extremely loud, and whistles. Also no matter what position the face vent was on there was still an uncontrollable amount of air flow coming through. Fit was good but whole face/shield area needs A LOT of work, would not suggest.

    I settled on an icon airflite because I couldn't afford the full carbon helmets that I wanted. Helmet I received was beautiful. It was really hard to put on, but once on it was snug and comfortable. It provided very loe noise and I soon forgot about the Ingress and egress because what's important is when you are on the bike. Highly recommended...

    After owning this helmet for about a half a year i bought myself a cardo packtalk bold and i installed everything. When i was riding at full volume i wondered why i cant understand anyone but my friends can hear me... it turns out the cutouts for the speakers are about 2-3 inches behind my ears. I don’t know if i have a weird head or ears but its a deal breaker. I cant mount it further up because the cheek pads are in the way then... too bad

    I have the Airflite Blockchain 2022 model, and i dont have the same issue with the cheek pad. In fact, I don't have exactly the same cheek pad model.
    I only have velcro without the plastic border which seems problematic in your video. Have they changed the cheek pad for 2-3 years?

    I've wore this helmet for my first 400 miles on my new bike and I like it so far. When I'm under 55 mph I just use the drop down sunglasses, but anything higher I use the face shield, and it's not too noticeably loud until you're like 70 mph+ where I have to crank up the audio on the helmet speakers I installed. Air flow is really good.

    So, i previously had the Shoei Qwest.
    Now, i know that theres a lot more going into windnoise than just the helmet, obviously but, very generalized, would you consider the Airflite to be on the quieter or louder side in terms of windnoise? i wanna use my Sena with it and also use it for touring, two things where i would prefer a quieter helmet.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 роки тому

      The Airflite is louder than the Qwest, and it has a very different fit as well. The Qwest had a bit rounder fit, while the Airflite is a much narrower fit. The Shoei RF-SR is the successor to the Qwest, but of course it doesn't look like the Airflite. -DrewZilla

    thanks for the video. but I need to ask is Dot and ECE able to be worn at a track where you are from? Here where I live in Indiana we must wear Snell at the track. again thanks for the video.

    • @patrickmchugh8039
      @patrickmchugh8039 6 років тому +1

      It all depends on your track day organization to be honest. Since a lot of MotoGP and WorldSBK racers are out there racing at the top tier levels with ECE helmets, it is tough for track day organizations to say that that standard is not good enough and SNELL is mandatory. It all depends on your local organization but a few in our region have no issues with ECE only as long as the helmet is still within its factory lifespan.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  5 років тому

      There's a good chance this helmet will be too narrow for you. I have an intermediate oval head shape, and it is too narrow for me. If you size up to get more width, the helmet will likely be too loose front to back. If you want to try, though, you can try size large. -DrewZilla

      Generally, you match the crown circumference to the helmet size and then get thinner or thicker cheek pads if necessary. At 23 inches, that would be size Large. -DrewZilla

    Hopefully someone can answer this? Does the helmet come with a faceshield that is pinlock ready? Or do I have to purchase a second faceshield AND the pinlock shield, both separately? Which obviously would mean about another $80 or so I'd assume.

    • @Njubish
      @Njubish 4 роки тому

      The visor that is included is not pinlock ready, but the included visor has anti-fog and I haven't had any issues with it fogging up. There's more than enough ventilation, and if you avoid having your visor down constantly there isn't any need for pinlock really.

    Just got this helmet. Not sure if I should exchange it. Once on, it fits perfectly - only problem is putting it on and off. Putting it on is hard but doable, but taking it off is when the problem arises. It's just sooo hard! Ears are getting folded back and hurting when taking it off. Should I exchange and go up a size?🤔🤷‍♂️

      It's completely normal for it to be hard to put on and take off. It's the same with the Airmada and Airframe Pro. If it fits good and snug once on, then that's the right size. Don't go up a size. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla

      Due to the big neck notch at the back of the helmet, a PackTalk Slim is unlikely to fit. The battery needs to sit flush along the backside, and the neck cutout won't allow the battery to do that. -DrewZilla

      It depends how well you take care of the helmet and/or how often you ride. If you're a weekend rider, a helmet will last longer than if you are a consistent commuter or do a lot of long distance touring. I've seen Icon helmets easily last 5 years, while I've seen others that are used frequently enough that they need to be replaced after 3 years. -DrewZilla
