I had to return to the place where I saw Puha and I used it in the food that I had planned to make & I thought it was a good combination.
I hope you enjoy the video. I was so happy to cook Puha for the very first time.

thought I could stay away from my kids and my grand childrens life but I couldn’t
I needed that time
away to know
That I really needed them in my life
But it’s good to take time off away cause us mothers we give our all to our babies and husband
We need to pull away
And take care our selves
It can be overwhelming
I got on the plane and went
back home
They said it was hard
Not having me as well in there life and my husband was so happy
time away made us all realize
We can’t live with out each other
And life was better
I left because I was feeling so overwhelmed and needed a break from my family 🥺
This is exactly why my husband wanted to leave Australia and my dear kids 😢
He is overwhelmed and is worried that he could’ve pass away and never get to relax and go fishing. And though I lost hours of sleep over the fact that I agreed to him, my heart was aching and crying myself to sleep thinking about missing my mama and my kids.
My husband kept saying “Please let’s go, I don’t want to be here”
I gave in.. I had to think of my husband’s mental health & also he’s getting sick almost on a weekly basis. I couldn’t live life with guilt if he suddenly left us and he never got to have his time to fish (in NZ)
My husband is in Australia sorting things before he joins me in a few weeks.
I’m with my nephew and he’s my brothers son. I get to cook for him and I appreciate that he enjoys my cooking 😂
Before I made the hard decision to move, I prayed on it. I had to ask God, if it’s ok to move…

It’s not because we lost love for our family (Far from it)
We have to make decisions to fit the current situation.

All of that patch was Puha, the whole garden & the other weeds are dandelions which is also nice to cook with puha. Pick it all

What are the greens you're cooking? It looks like watercress which in the South in Virginia and North Carolina we call it creasy greens And the way we cook it is is that we wash it real good like you did. We put water in the Pot and we put either bacon grease with it or smoked turkey Pieces such as the neck And we let it cook until it's done and mingled in with the meat is delicious.
I was reading your comment and all I could say was yum.. as I’m reading what you all add in with your greens.
That was my first time picking that puha plant. I was curious and yes it has a slight taste of spinach but it’s not watercress.. I hope there’s a creek around here that has watercress growing. I wasn’t sure if I picked the right leaves? But it’s the next day, so it’s good. 😅👍🏼

@@fayevids7391 Yes it looks so much like watercrest. I hope that you can find some watercress and try what I told you. Get you from smoke turkey or smoke Neck bones and Let them cook with your watercress or you're Puha and see how it tastes. It's delicious. You just add some salt and pepper. It's a great meal. You can cook some of your biscuits or corn bread to go with it. By the way you do cook delicious food. The chicken looked good with the cream.

Hi Sally, I miss my mama so much. My kids too. My kids, they call me and we talk. And I see some of them on the phone call chat thingy 😅 but I’m waiting on Sharon to go see her grandma so she can FaceTime me so I can talk and see my dear mother… 😢
I’m currently staying in Hamilton. I passed by Hamilton about 5 years ago and I liked it. It kinda reminded me of Wellington. It’s nice and quiet. Only an hour and bit away from Auckland. So once we’re settled and have us a vehicle, God willing, we will visit families. And go fishing 🤞🏼😂

It's ok to cry when you miss your family in Australia my mum lives in Perth been there for a while she has three kids we all live in Auckland NZ I remember one Christmas day mum came over to say goodbye to me my brother and sister we all cried but we are all ok Faye btw your hair looks very nice tied up

It was my husband who wanted to move away and I was devastated 😅😢
But I remember my mother telling me, that I must care for my husband as he’s worked hard to make sure that his kids. Plus, I think my older kids, will always be there watching over the younger ones. Especially my eldest son. I am forever grateful to God, for blessing me with such a hands on considerate child as he is.. He plays his role whether they like it or not haha he does his part as older brother. He’s not bossy, he’s understanding and talks to them with respect and I think that’s why they tend to listen. And so they SHOULD! 😂😂

But hey Faye I make the same mistake when I go pick taro leaves lol the blinken white lily flower with that yellow stalk in the middle, I get confused with that plants leaf being Taro leaf cause they look the same.
Taro leaves don’t have lily flower stalk.. run away it’s not good.. that plant is a distant cousin of the taro but we don’t eat it.. 😅

hahaha, I laughed when you said that lu'au from Samoa tasted better than here. I too believed the same thing, so when I asked my dad about it, he said it was because lu'aus enjoyed plane rides...(I believe him. I was about 8 or 9 yrs old at the time). Anyway, thanks for always being so positive and making us laugh, even though you're so far from your beloved family.

When my sister inlaw was here, I told her about the puha up the road and being Māori herself, she will know. We had planned to walk up and get some but we forgot and I only remembered when she left 😅
It’s the next day now and Thankfully, the puha was good 😊

That’s not puha. Puha is more round leaves. You would normally find it growing near water. Not sure if you ate rocket lettuce or weed from outgrown plants lol nevertheless good efforts

Yes I would like that. However my husband has been wanting to return to NZ to have a break from working & enjoy what he’s been yearning to do for years. And God wiling, I’ll visit my mama & kids whenever possible. As long as my siblings are visiting our mother to check on her 😢
I say this with kindness but No one is in any position to tell Faye or anyone for that matter, what she should or shouldn’t do.
Faye is putting her husbands needs first. They’ve done the hard yards and deserve to live their retired lives however fits. Faye has a strong knit family and I’m sure it was heart wrenching for both Faye and her husband to leave the life they built together in Australia to now start a new life for themselves in Aeoteroa.
