As a Floridian there are other place that don't have the high HOA and no ccd and maintenance fees that villages has plus most of the medical is in Tampa . The other place have same things as the villages but with out huge fees which go up every year. Pasco or Polk counties have much more to offer.
We pay $1,800/yr for home owners insurance on a 1400 sq ft house here in NH, plus almost 7K in property taxes on a 0.21 acre lot. Thanks Jerry and Linda.
Hello Jerry and Linda so glad you were able to spend time with family and make lasting memories. I don't like the cold weather and hope we don't get a bad winter. Yes I agree with you Linda when you do or say something wrong you need to apologize because its the right thing to do.
Love the Out And About segments. My favorite go to sandwich is the Reuben. I love Reubens. Corned beef Ruebens, pastrami Ruebens, turkey Ruebens. I love them all ❤
Your insurance cost sounds really good to me. I'm in Louisiana and a lot of folks are getting bills for $13,000 and more. People are losing their homes because no other companies will write the insurance in our state, so you cannot shop for lower premiums. My Homeowners is over $4,000 a year and I'm praying it does not go up. My Flood is around $2300 year. Your cost sounds very fair to me. Great video!
I read recently that insurance companies are not paying claims for wind damage, saying that the damage is from the water from hurricanes. They are not paying, and Florida's who own their homes are dropping coverage. I'm not sure how mortgage companies are handling insurance companies on this issue.
Also, we live on a Golf course (Hawks Landing Gold Club) and have for 24 year. Our house has never been hit and I have kept every golf ball I found. Thus far I think I have found about 1200.
Being married for 62 years, in just about 2 weeks, my husband never ever apologized. But you know what, I say it was the way he was raised, and never learned anything in all these years, even when I apologized he never responded.
Great video as always. Glad you could get it back up! I’m so sorry to hear about your Brother-in-Law’s cancer. Praying for him and your family. Linda, I liked your little dance, lol That Cuban sandwich looked really good Jerry.
Homes are depreciating in Florida. Thousands of homes are on the market. Insurance rates and taxes. Insurance companies won’t insure you if roofs are old.
Hey Jerry and Linda, last month Coyote’s tour apart my sisters French Bulldog. She has a small farm in Louisiana and 3 dogs who went out together. A Rhodesian Ridgeback, a Pit bull, and Piggy her Frenchie. The coyotes lured Piggy away into the a fenced pasture. By the time the other dogs got around the fence, Piggy was torn in half. The fought the pack off but it was too late. The other two dogs needed stitches but survived. This whole episode was less than 5 minutes. Tell your viewers to keep their dogs close with Coyotes around. They can and will kill them.
Jerry that was a question about the weather in Florida! Beautiful grandchildren.I have a birthday & my one daughter has a birthday In December. Will be with her in Florida to celebrate her 50th!💓
I am someone who also watch your show for entertainment. Love your videos which makes me very curious about living in the Villages. Recently retired too.
Wow on that insurance premiums 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️. I keep telling myself I won’t have to pay state taxes anymore and that’s about 10 thousand a year so hopefully it all evens out 🤷♀️
Reality check for people like myself........Florida is pricing people like me right out of the market. You folks got in at the right time. For the foreseeable future its just too expensive.
Amazon has all kinds of car seat pet carriers for the smaller dogs. Mine has a zippered front to stow the collapsible water dish, dog bags and leash, and a hook inside to attach to the harness. It is real snazzy and only cost about $20.
I bought a new car 9 months ago, car insurance $980. My property tax is $1200 a year. Of course, you get what you pay for. I don't have the nice weather you have. I am sorry to hear about your BIL. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Blessings to your brother-in-law. My family has had to go through two members with pancreatic cancer in the last year. Thankful we celebrated every day, laughed, and lived life to the best we could. We even took my dad on short day trips along with the box of medication and all legal paperwork for the hospital, if needed. Keep your head up and keep fighting. FAITH
At an golf outing one time , one of our foursome hit his drive and it bounced into a fenced in yard. We started to walk that way when the owners dog ran over and picked the ball up and ran away with it. The owner did throw it back to us. Jerry I'm sorry to hear about you brother in law, I think his name is Tom? I will include him in my prayers.
We are loving the events @ The Sharon!!! We bought tickets to see The Kingston Trio, one of Jim’s favorite vocal group!! We always look forward to Mailbag Monday’s & stay caught up with The Village’s weekly updates‼️We will get out a get well card for your BIL Tom in the mail pronto & prayers too❤️🙏
Awesome show ! Loved ya all going start to finish , coast to coast baby !! Thank you as always for the great information. Thoughts & prayers to Tom & Dottie, we know they will come through this challenge together !
Great video. Not all houses on a golf course are in harms way of an errant golf ball. It depends on where the home is situated in relation to the tee box and fairway. The back of our house is directly beside the tee box. Not likely to be hit by the golf ball. However, houses down the fairway are more likely to have a ball hit their house or bird cage or roll into their yard depending on how fast the ball is going when it gets there. So not all homes are in danger just because they’re on the golf course. Thanks!
I am finally getting caught up and watching all of your great videos! I am in So Cal now, just listed my home and The Villages bound!!! Can't wait to meet you nice folks!
I was wondering when you went. I had watched this afternoon and went to tell my husband about the insurance and boom you were gone. lol Anyway. I think the answer you got in Florida is generic, because we got the same exact answer here in NY about our car insurance going sky high. Between Ny and our home in Leesburg. Omg. It’s scary they just do what they want. Afraid to change insurance incase they tell you need all these things done. Glad you video is back was a good one as always.
In the 5 years we lived on the "Historic side" we saw 2 Coyotes. One on our own street and one near Spanish Springs trotting along El Camino near Morse (near the two small lakes). Lots of large slow birds, rabbits, rodents and so forth as food for these Coyotes. by the way, Cuban Sandwiches have yellow mustard mixed with mayo as the "Special sauce" for the most part and served with a sliced Dill Pickle as part of the sandwich.
I use the same insurance company. I pay $1600 per year for a $700k home here in KY. Insurance cost is one of the reasons I am hesitant to move to Florida. We want to see how things go in 2025.
For people planing to move to Florida, one should plan for your insurance cost for auto and homeowners to double from what you are paying up North. More if you live in a low cost insurance states like Ohio and Maine.
We live on a golf course in Va. our windows get replaced for FREE anytime a window is broken. It’s a policy through our company that installed the windows. And yes, we’ve had several broken windows. Replaced for free!
We live in St Louis, and are looking at the Villages, and other locations in FL. We hear all the stories about homeowners insurance in FL. Every estimate I have received is less than what we pay in MO. We pay $2600 yr. Cost hasn’t been below $2300 a yr in over 10 years. Granted a $1000 deductible. No storm exclusions. Living in FL and or at The Villages must be about the worst place to be today except for maybe going to college in South Bend Indiana. That would suck pretty bad too.
Our homeowners insurance in a small rural area 1 hour north of San Diego is $5227.00 per year. Regular gasoline is $4.70 per gallon. For your type of home, that's not a bad insurance bill. We have a small ranch style house, and the bill last year was $3,600, up from $1,800 two years ago. The Villages Agency was able to get me more coverage for $2,200. If you take a big hit, check around. Also, when we lived on a golf course in MA, I investigated who is responsible and it is the golfer. If you can catch them great but it isn't worth putting in a claim as the cost of the repair (3 times) was always less than the deductible.
I’m not sure about the golf ball thing! Maybe it’s different in Florida but around here it’s the golfer who’s responsible for any ball that they hit! Check with your lawyer friend.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Pretty sure you're right about this. When I studied common law many years ago, I thought it was strange that golfers would have no liability even if there's no "normal" way the ball should have hit the house/window. I think the law is pretty settled on this. I guess there can be exception for gross negligence or something but hitting a bad shot doesn't seem to rise to that level.
Courts (in the USA) have routinely ruled that a golfer cannot be penalized for a bad shot. If you’re aiming at the house, you’re responsible. But they’ve consistently decided (again, around the USA only) that if you slice one 80 yards through a window, it’s not your fault.

Why do you think Doctors are leaving Florida insurance rates double other places. My Doctors have told me that if prices don't come down soon there group is leaving. In different areas citizens have stopped taking new accounts. There the insurer of last resort. Our governor sign a bill into law you can not self insurer so if like me i paid cash for my home you can not be without insurance.
I would increase your deductible to get your HOI premium down. You really don’t want to make a claim unless you have a catastrophic issue. We raised ours to the max. allowed with our insurance company, $10,000. You are basically then just self-insuring should you have say an $8k issue/claim. The chance of a real significant claim is very low. Bob S.
I clicked on this video to find out why there are so many homes for sale in the villages only to have to wait through 19 minutes of stuff for not much of an answer. One thing I’ve learned is that there is no way I will ever want to live in the villages. I’ll stay in my home until I’m ready for a box.
The golfer is responsible for their actions. Your comment of “well you knew you bought on a golf course “ does not fly. That would be like saying you knew there was a road there therefore the car that just drove into your house is your fault. You break a window, you should pay to replace it.
First Progressive is pulling out of Florida market. You house insurance is 1000 more than mine.. yikes. I live in north end of the villages in a 4 year old 3 br 2 b 2 car home. Maybe you are over insured.
