The narrator could be attempting to pronounce Li Long's name with the correct tones.

My first fighting game ever put me on to fighting games period! My favorite fighting game still. The soundtrack the gameplay characters all perfect soul caliber could never pull off what this game is. This game made me not like tekken 2 at first. Love soul edge

I heard something about the "edge" word was copyrighted by someone I can't remember right now
there was a company when soul edge came out called edge something, so they renamed it to soul blade
I feel like Cervantes' theme in soul edge/blade is one of the best soundtracks in this game possibly in later games too. I don't know what it is. It feels nostalgic with a smile on my face

Roshea That’s not true tho man, he always talked about how much he liked SC1 and 2. I think 2 is one of his favorite fighting games. He’s played 2, 4, and 5 on the channel. You must be pretty new or something. Lol
"Edge of Soul" is like an early 90s English anime intro, which kind of sets the tone for Soul Edge in general.

The edge of soul is like the best game opening song ever! Would rate it second after Tekken 5 which in my opinion is the best game opening ever!
One of my favorite PS1 games of all time. Loved the three different soundtracks, the Edge Master mode, the alternate story endings, etc. My brother and i spent so many hours playing this and collecting all of the weapons as a kid. THIS is where the series started youngsters, lol.

Aah, the sound effects and music is such a nostalgic trip. Also, the characters in this game had a lot more moves and options than I remembered. I always remember it being very limited like Tekken 1, but it's not that bad.
Hearing Cervantes's stage music start still sends chills up my spine all these years later. Lol. I HATED playing against him when in was a kid and I'd her stuck forever trying to beat him! This was great. I loved Soul Blade so much back in the day. Thanks for posting!

Hours upon hours of trying to beat Cervantes' blatant input reading (which was lessened in an arcade revision). It gets stuck in your head along with the Bravely Folk Song (such a great BGM that is)
Best opening not only of the Soul Series, but also, one of the best in ps1 era. Glad you did this video, this game deserves more justice. I was disappointed it was almost ignored in Namco video of Swords and Souls.
So Li Long is basically original Maxi.

*There are alternate endings if you press the controller left of right at the right time after beating the final boss. I'm sure everyone knows this. The alternate is he grabs the sword and it saves his life by giving him power.*

+Wannabe_Baby Mitsurugi's one was badass and pretty difficult, if memory serves. Essentially you had to dodge bullets in First Person View. Pretty sure Siegfried's Alternate Ending was the canon ending for the game too.
Not true. Soul Calibur III had this feature, they just haven't used it much besides that.

I have fond memories of Soul Edge playing it as a kid especially Edge Master mode like...
1) Having a hard time with the special matches like only beating enemies via a throw, air juggle, time limit or being poisoned
2) Getting massacred at the Coliseum
3) Inferno raping me time and time again
4) Not knowing where to get the ulitmate weapons for each char except Siegfried and Cervantes lol...
I remember I used to stuck at the special matches where you need to do the critical edge to kill them.
Cervantes is not evil, he's just misunderstood and wants to serve you fresh gagh.
God, They need to bring back The Edge of Soul theme in 6.

The Soul Edge/Blade intro theme was so good, why did they ditch that style of music for SC
Soul Edge was so friggin good for it's time. It had a very lengthy "campaign" mode as well where you'd go around the world map doing missions. I'm glad they kept that in for most Soul Calibur games.

This and Tekken 3 are the best 3D fighters the original PS has to offer. The gameplay, music, and all extra goodies totally exceeded expectations and set the standard for home ports. I played this in both the arcade and PS as a young teen and loved every second of it (and Darkstalkers and Cyberbots and...)!!!

I've got love for Maxi but Li Long was the man. I miss Hwang too, Li Long and Hwang are my two favorites from the franchise.
Yeah man, Li Long was my main before Maxi came along. I hope we see him somewhere in the story mode of SCVI

This game has an amazing soundtrack, doesn't it.
1 of the 1st games i ever played in the arcade, i remember walking in and seeing that intro & i just remember being stunned by how beautiful it looked and the fact that everyone had weapons was the coolest shit ever.
loved the variety in the soundtrack, every song is distinctive; i feel like the latest games just throw some generic marches in ... not to mention this one had an arranged version and a completely new and funky ost as a third option.
That's classic Namco for you. This and Tekken 2 had incredible soundtracks. Rock's stage theme is amazing.
Plus namco add 3rd outfit for characters . tekken 3 ost good too. Ridge racer type 4.
Li Long is the coolest Soul Series character. I want to see him as SCVI DLC. Not just a Create-a-Soul like in SC3.

I'm quite pissed they took out Li Long for Maxi, took out Rock and Hwang. Didn't even have time to establish all the core Soul Blade characters before replacing some. Rock over Astaroth (although I wouldn't mind both in SCVI). Would've loved to see every character in Soul Blade stay throughout the whole series

Being 14 I can proudly say this game was my childhood.
Man this brings back memories. I played this before I even knew there was a Soulcalibur trilogy, and I'd play the shit out of this game. The music, the SFX, everything just takes me back.

I saw the length of the video, and thought, there has to be at least a mini boss rage because I dont recall Soul Edge taking half an hour to complete if you beat everyone on the first go.
Well, during the stream he accidentally had it on a really high difficulty and got stuck on Voldo.
The Soul blade soundtrack is still one of the best in the series.
Still the best music in the series Imo, Especially the psx version with the alternate soundtracks.

I dunno, I like guest characters in soul calibur but the anime cartoonish ones are odd.. like when they added link it didn't really fit and broke immersion.

First time playing this game was a demo at Funcoland. Li Long was my favorite character from that moment on. Many good times at home with this game
Soul Blade here in the UK I loved that game so much I got every weapon for every character during there story mode it was difficult but God what a game, the worst fights in each story are the ones where you have to kill them with one move or throws only etc, the music in this game is amazing. Shame they wouldn't do a remake of this one I found this one to be the best before the Calibur games

Awesome game. Love that cutscenes. My favorite game from the series is Soul Calibur III. I wish they added Dante like they were going to originally. Soul Calibur IV is crap though.
