If you have $1500 - $2000 a month in the Philippines. You are financially in good shape and much cheaper if you live in the countryside. Filipinos are friendly and they take care the old and disabled people.

Deborah -- several US expats I know are reasonably 'comfortable' on $800 -- $1000 / mo. in Lipa City and Trace Martires.

Hey, Americans, for those of us not educated in USA, _N grade_ isn't familiar. It just doesn't mean anything internationally.

I was in Bayawan in September and I would like to know if there’s any good restaurants there? There’s no fast food restaurants yet. I stayed at what I guess was their best hotel and the breakfast was good but other than that I didn’t see any restaurants. Pure Gold store was very nice tho. I’m moving to the Philippines in February as I will retire there in the Dumaguete area but will return to Bayawan as my girlfriend’s family is in Basay up the mountain.

Good Interview, but you didn't ask a lot of questions most of your viewers wanted. Like his age, where he's from, his career background, does he have kids, what brought him to the Philippines etc etc. Have another interview with this guy cause he's great. Thanks

When you go to a different country, I suggest adapting and respecting their laws and cultures and trying not to compare.

If you need help ask and tells it frankly don't be shy then they can help you for free if you don't have any money to pay atleast you'd tell it frankly.

There are lots of organizations willing to help in the west. Salvation army, lots of food banks, lots of soup kitchens, the government etc. It is not right for a westerners to go beg in the Philippines. Plus majority of those people, not particularly this one, can still work at least part time
